I need suggestions for possible patches that will avoid the need to reinstall completely.

I wanted to reinstall Windows on the new hard drive because of the error on the old hard drive, but recovery disks did not work. I tried the method of recovery twice and they were mistakes out to 26% and 34% respectively unfortunately installation disks were not provided at the time of purchase.
