  I have a monitor Samsung SyncMaster S24B300EL I want to use with my HP all-in-one.  My operating system is Windows 8.1.  I know that I need a USB VGA adapter.  I tried two so far.  The first was J5Create, but constantly caused my PC to freeze.  The second one I bought is a cheap generic, but I think that it only supports Windows 8.  I asked a driver 8.1, but have not received.

  No recommendation for a reliable card that will not cause problems with the PC?

  I wonder if someone could help me with this. I tried to connect my Satellite A40 to my LCD TV using the external monitor output. However, it seems that the only available screen resolutions are all for 4:3 screens. I checked using "List all Modes" on advanced options, but there is no large indicated resolutions.

  The laptop has Intel 82855 chipset and I tried to update the drivers, but the update process fails saying the drivers is updated.

  Does anyone know how I can add the widescreen resolutions, mainly of 1366 x 768, so that I can use the LCD screen as a monitor.

  You may not use a screen resolution wide if the graphics driver does not support your favorite resolution settings!
  Some external wide screens are supplied with an additional CD and drivers.
  It allows to include the resolutions that are supported by the external display.

  But note; The GPU must support this too. If the graphics card does not support this resolution then it will not be possible to select.

  Then one more again; to use the preferred resolution the GPU + GPU driver and external monitor must support!

  Since you have an HP computer, I would say that you uninstall to level 3.

  Level 4 uninstalling will remove all traces of the HP software, which can eliminate more than you want to, especially if you have an HP computer. I suggest you do a level 3 uninstall as follows: load your driver CD and navigate to the directory util\CCC on the CD. There will be a series of commands, uninstall_L1.bat by uninstall_L4.bat files. I suggest that you run uninstall_L1.bat, then uninstall_L2.bat, then uninstall_L3.bat.

  I suggest that you do not run the uninstall_L4.bat file.

  Looking at your specific model, I think you can try to connect an external monitor via the VGA port.

  Once you have connected the secondary monitor using the VGA port, press control + p and main Windows logo if you are able to extend or clone your desktop.

I tried to print photo 4 x 6 a day. 2 first impressions were good, and the third image has begun to fade from the half. Documents not threatened by more than a few pages. I tried to uninstall/re-install, printing via USB, set static IP address on the print and followed by other solutions on this forum. I was lazy to lift a question myself on this forum. Now, I'm totally frustrated and disappointed by this product, I wanted to just try my luck.

  Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.

  I understand your ENVY 4500 HP e-all-in-one printer is not printing documents to the end and there is a print quality problem when you print photos.  I would like to help.

  I have some suggestions that can solve these problems.

  First, I recommend that you only perform a "hard reset":

  1. press the Power button to turn off the printer.
  2. unplug the power cord at the back of the printer.
  3. wait 60 seconds.
  4 reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
  5. press the power button to turn on the printer.

  Click on the title of the following article:

  Try Solution two.

  If this clarify two questions, great!  If this solves the problem of document but still the problem of print quality with photos, click on the title of the following article:

  Printer prints a blank Page or does not print black ink color for the HP ENVY 4500 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540 e-all-in-One Printer Series

  Work your way through the Solution one and go until you are satisfied with the print quality.  Test photo print - does clarify the issue of the photo?

  Well there is only one monitor on the laptop, the HDMI port but we USB 3.0 to HDMI adapters that work quite well and will allow another monitor to add.
