How to attach a time capsule to a fios router

I have a mixed system of computers (Mac and windows os) and I use Verizon FiOS router G1100 of quantum. I want attached to my time Capsule 1 TB to the router to be used as a NAS (attached to the network storage) device, but do not know how to proceed.

All of the suggestions.

Not really recommend that you do so with a time Capsule of the 1st Gen... If that's what you have... like the reset back to the default settings, the new settings, restart, etc. may not happen with such an old device.

If you want to try this in any case, we recommend that if you have not already done so... that you first back up the data on the Time Capsule to a USB drive that is formatted as Mac OS extended (journaled) using the archive feature in AirPort Utility.

Next, we need to know what kind of computer you will use to set up the time Capsule and what operating system it is running.

  • Cannot delete files from USB HDD CCC attached to Time Capsule

    Hello

I use an external DRIVE (WD MyBook Studio) disc that contains two partitions: "CCC-Backup' (where Carbon Copy Cloner stores its backups/clones) and 'Media' (for my movie collection). This HARD drive was attached to my iMac, but now I have the seal to a Time Capsule via USB. Both partitions appear in the Finder and I can see all the data. So far so good.

Now, I want to set up my backup of CCC from scratch. To free up space, delete the contents of the old 'CCC Backup' partition. First of all, I see a message like "XXX.XXX current objects of deletion":

But then, after a while, I receive a message telling me that the deletion failed because I do not have the appropriate privileges (I am admin on my iMac, however).

I have no idea if this is a related question CCC or if it could be due to the fact that the HARD drive is now connected to the time Capsule? Could someone please give me a tip how I'll be able to remove the old CCC where backup files?

When the hard drive is plugged into the TC it indeed belongs to the TC. You must create a directory on the drive of your computer to be the owner of this particular directory. But what you do when the drive is connected to your computer is ignored when plugged into the network, it is owned by the network device.

So the solution is very simple... Plug it into your computer, wipe the partition and then plug it into the TC.

You must use sparsebundle then CCC for backup. It is important to understand that the CCC as Time Machine backup impossible similarly to a network drive.

  • How to connect my Time Capsule to a WiFi network?

Happily, I use a Time Capsule for years as a WiFi router connected as a bridge to the router provided by my supplier.

Now, I'm moving to a place where internet is already provided by an access point in my new apartment and included in the monthly cost of the facilities in this village. The access point is hidden behind the ceiling of my apartment and doesn't have any port ethernet except the one used to get the internet. WiFi which will be available for me is configured by an administrator with the name of my apartment.

My internet needs TC that the ethernet source and I wonder what I could do to work around this problem. I don't see any option in the settings of TC to connect to an existing WiFi.

While waiting to move to the new apartment, I did a test by trying to create a scenario similar to the House, for example by using the wifi router of my provider to create a wifi network, then using an extension of WiFi that is connected to A WiFi network and connect my TC via ethernet connected on WiFi extender set up my TC as a bridge and the creation of a WiFi B with my TC that I can use with my devices. It works fine, but I wonder if there is something I'm missing or a better solution or possible issues related to this configuration.

    Tnxs.

My internet needs TC that the ethernet source and I wonder what I could do to work around this problem.

In a Word, nothing. The TC must connect to a network by using a wired Ethernet cable connection. The only exception to this would be a Workbench where you already have a router Apple providing a wireless signal, in which case the TC can connect wireless to "extend" the network.

This is how the TC must be connected to the network of the apartment. If your extension does not work with the network of the apartment, an AirPort Express could be used to 'join' the network wireless of the apartment, and then provide an Ethernet connection to the Treasury Board.

  • How to make a Time Capsule external hard drive backup

Hi I just got a time capsule airport which I backed up on my iMac.  I have an external seagate HD plugged on my mac via USB.  I have a catalog photo large library and adobe lightroom on the external hard drive I use and change almost every day. These files are NOT stored on my computer because they take so much space that I would like to keep the separate external disk.  It was my hope to keep a backup on my time capsule on a regular basis with my backup of the iMac.  I have time machine configured to backup from my mac, and then under options, I have seen the drive seagate showing as excluded.  I removed excluded readers and click Save. However I don't think during backup that he actually saved these files because the capsule still shows as have plenty of available disk space.  When I opened the options again shows seagate always excluded.

so question is can I save the iMac and the external hard drive at the same time?

If this is not the case, what is the work around for this thing saved?

    thnx

The Seagate disk should be in Mac Mac OS extended (journaled)format, also known as HFS +, if you want that Time Machine to back up your Mac.

Do you know how the Seagate drive is formatted?  If it isn't... . Right click on on the icon of the Seagate drive which is mounted on the Mac desktop, and then click read the information. In the window that appears, look for the Format.

What do you see when you check the Format?

  • How to set my time capsule from apple for my external hard drive backup?

I installed a Time Capsule from Apple on my network.  It seems to work very well.  I need to use it to back up my external drive (if possible)

    Can someone give me directions?

    Thank you

    Jean S

If you use Time Machine, open the system preferences pane, click Options, and remove the external drive from the exclusion list. It is not possible for all formats of volume.

If you use a different backup product, see its documentation.

  • How to move a Time Capsule backup to a new hard drive

I've been running Time Capsule on an external FireWire drive Yosemite 10.10.5 running on a MacPro to 2012. It will allow more to perform backups and disk utility fails to remove the disc. When I run the disk repair, either via the recovery disc or a USB flash drive, they are not able to repair the disc and gives me the message: "exit code is 8." The suggestion is to backup the drive and then wipe and restore. I tend to remove the hard drive because it is the second time this has happened; the first time I erased it and started the Time Machine backup everywhere with the same external drive.

However, I am about to upgrade to El Capitan and certainly want the option to return to Yosemite if necessary.

What should I do to transfer the contents of the hard drive damaged to a new drive and always make sure that my computer recognizes it as a backup Time Machine valid? I can clone it right on a new external hard drive?

    Thank you!

Yes, it clones if the drive is still ok.

On a MacPro, you have plenty of space for a real drive... or you can buy a USB key and just to make the clone.

However, my recommendation is to download and run Carbon Copy Cloner. You get free trial use 1 month anyway. Clone startup current Mac to a USB drive or internal hard drive. And make sure it is bootable... that makes it simple to restore a computer to your old operating system running. TM cannot produce a clone bootable... nor can utility that can clone a drive but not to create a boot disk drive.

Just keep the current firewire drive as that is the TM backup... I really doubt that you will get no improvement it cloning.

  • How can I configure Time Capsule 3 to and Motorola NVG589 to access the Time Capsule backup drive?

I have ATT Uverse service and am ok with the performance of the WiFi of the NVG589. I want to configure my Time Capsule 3 to extend the network and be able to access the drive for backups Time Machine. I think I am following the steps in Airport utility, but once installation is complete I can find is no longer the time Capsule.

I want to configure my Time Capsule 3 to extend the network

The time Capsule cannot "extend" the network Uverse using a wireless connection, if that's maybe what you're trying to do. The time Capsule can only wireless "extend" the signal of another router from Apple.

The Capsule can be configured to extend the network to Uverse if it is connected permanently... anytime... to the Uverse router using a connection through wired Ethernet cable.

Please specify on what you're trying to accomplish, so that we can provide the correct steps.

  • How to share a Time Capsule airport directory (/ Data / media /) with an OPPO BDP - 103 Blu - Ray player with Ethernet (no Wi - Fi) connections?

I have an OPPO BDP - 103 Blu - Ray player connected to my LAN via ethernet cable.  I also have an airport Time Capsule (APTC) connected by ethernet to my local network cable.

In addition to the use of PACT as a backup Time Machine for my MacBook, I have a few movies and photos in the directory/data/media /.  What should I do so that the law of the APTC as a media server to serve/data/Media/and the files in the hierarchy of files in this directory to the BDP-103?  I don't have a wireless adapter for the BDP-103.

Note that I use OS X El Capitan on my MacBook Pro, but I don't want to get involved them in this.  I want to just serve you directly the files on CLTS CLTS.

You can't do it unless the Blu - Ray player is a complete multimedia player.

Apple have no extension of media in a TC... No... nothing... zero... Nothingness... elodie... not a thing.

BTW, Apple do not support DLNA who need of most TV/media players... so they never get to add it in the future either.

To play media files on a TC you can use a WD TV live... because it's a media player... and he can read raw files... not only DLNA used media.

What Apple is nothing without iTunes.

  • How to set up time capsule and D-Link wireless?

iMac, Time Capsule, D-Link modem, internet broadband

Ethernet is the only way... the TC must be plugged into the modem Dlink... I'm sorry.

Apple created their routers with wireless links.

The way around it is ethernet... well the best solution.

There are two types of replacements of ethernet...

EOP adapters can also work if the internal power wiring matches the location. It is Ethernet over power.

Or you can add a second wireless apple plugged on the dlink router to provide a wireless bridge. It's a bridge transparent wireless with ethernet at each end.

  • More time capsules (or any Apple router) support VDSL2?

I change ISPS to fiber high speed (PlusNet, to the United Kingdom) and want to use my time rather than their router Capsule. They say that any router I use must take over VDSL2.

The older is (1 to 2012) Time Capsule - or do any of the current versions of the Apple routers - support it?

The older is (1 to 2012) Time Capsule - or do any of the current versions of the Apple routers - support it?

Sorry, but no. Apple routers have a modem on board, so you will always need to use a modem with a router from Apple with any type of DSL service.

  • How to clear a time capsule?

I saw an answer to this question posted several years back. I want to be sure to do it correctly with the new OS X.

I have a 500 MB of 2008 TC and he traded on my LAN for a TC of 2016. The LAN is now on the new TC.

I use El Capitan on a retina MBPro. I think that the procedure is:

    Disconnect the MBP

    Stop

Connect the old TC cable Ethernet the MBP

    Start of MBP

    Start-up of TC

Open the AP utility and erase the old TC.

    Shut it down.

    Fix?

I assuem I can then give or sell the old TC?

It's more complicated... but on the plan by making sure you don't mess up your network... it will work well.

You should do a deletion of a single pass (zero data) which will take a few hours... Quick erase is not secure.

Just check the TC in your airport utility.
