How to cancel a surreptitious transition from Outlook Express to Windows Live.

Hello people.

Can someone help me change my Win xp H.E.  default for mail to Outlook Express?

He has been 'hijacked' when I installed the webcam Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000, which has installed a load of bumf Microsoft and now when I try to 'Save to disk' of my Web-based e-mail account, Outlook Express has been usurped to Windows Live Mail... and I can't put 'Open with' Outlook Express even if I search in 'program files '.

See if one of these ideas to help you. How you saved as eml files should be good, that's how to open them now.

1: open OE and slide a .eml recorded you message an OE folder. (Maybe create a new folder in OE to avoid confusion). This message is now open in OE?

2: create a file association.

1. you saved eml files.
2. right click on a saved file.
3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
4. click on: choose [default] program.
5 select: Outlook Express
6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
7. click on OK.

3: Remove Windows Live Mail, as appropriate.

4: Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 may be the culprit. What you can do to make the rule in or out? I'm not experienced with this program.

  • Import e-mail messages from Outlook Express in Windows Live Mail?

I have recently moved to a new PC with Win7 and have been using Live Mail - more often with success, I thought with the exception of one or two faults, but I'll probably post a question on those.
On the audit of my old PC today, when I open Oulook Express have been downloaded more than 100 emails that have not appeared in Live Mail - dating back to the time I went.
I tried to export these messages of OE, put it on a USB key and then import in LM LM do not seem to recognize them - these are the dbx files. Suggestions anyone please?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jeff.

If both computers use the same e-mail address, you must do this to get the messages on both.

On both machines: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server.

On a single computer only, make sure to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space that you get from your server.

  • Import messages from Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail Inbox

I can't import my Inbox of Outlook Express to WIndows Live Mail.  I saved my OE Inbox to a file .csv to a flash drive.   I then copied the file from my desktop flash player.   I open Live Mail, import, Microsoft Outlook express and stressed the desktop icon of the file.   I get an error that no message is available.  What I am doing wrong?

Contacts can be saved on one. CSV, no messages file.
OE contacts are stored in a .wab file. You can import this (or a CSV file)
in WLM. Just open WLM, open Contacts, do a file-import-etc.

Your messages in OE are already stored in .dbx files. Copy all the .dbx
files on the XP computer in a temporary folder on the Windows 7 computer.
Be sure to include the folders.dbx file.

then open WLM and don't file - import - etc.

  • How to remove the Inbox of emails in Outlook Express after Windows Live?

I get the persistent messages to compact my emails.  I noticed that 2007 emails are be compacted.

I went from Outlook Express to Windows Live a few years ago and thought I had disconnected from Outlook Express.  Obviously not.  I think that each email in Windows Live, I got also went to the Outlook Express Inbox.  I was able to remove all the "sent", "draft", emails, but was denied access to the Outlook Express Inbox.  Therin find hundreds of emails.   I want to stay with Windows Live, but I sure I want to delete 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 email in my Outlook Inbox.  What should I do?

I don't understand why you would be denied access to the Inbox, but that following and you will end up with an Inbox again and empty.

My new computer has Windows 7 and, of course, Windows Live Mail.  My old computer has Windows XP and Outlook Express.  I copied my file OE that contains all my USB key *.dbx files.  On the file menu of WLM, I then selected "Import Messages" and then indicated the location of my OE files on the USB key.  When I clicked to import the files, a small window with a green status bar that showed all the imported files.  I then clicked on "Finish."  My problem is even if the import seems to be successful I don't think the imported files or folders in Live Mail.  I tried twice with the same results.  Did I miss a step?  My just OE files seem to have not gotten in my Windows Live Mail program.

Look in the imported folders under storage folders. If you do not see the storage files, in the Menu bar: view | Page layout | The folders pane. Check: View the storage folders.
