How to change back to SSD HARD drive?

My mcbook pro comes with the original 500 GB of HARD drive. When he ran with a problem, I went to an apple repair shop. Problem was in the charts, and he suggested the HARD drive to be replaced by a 120 GB SDD. So it has been replaced, but the guy on the left HARD drive as a storage device. Moment where DDI is left with small space and when I update to OS X El Capitan of OS Sierra, it had to be installed in the HARD disk drive. Could someone please give instructions to install the new OS to the SDS to lose all my data and the current configuration and it is also possible to install windows XP on the HARD drive and 10.  Either by the way, I got Windows 10 and XP shared with the SDS via parallels. Thank you

I think this can be useful for you:

How to use an SSD with your HARD drive

If you want to use an SSD as boot with your existing HARD disk drive, as the disk 'data', here is what you can do.

After installing the SSD, you need to partition and format the SSD using disc utility disc. Then install OS X on the SSD. Once installed OSX boot from SSD. Startup disk preferences to set up the SSD as the boot volume.

Open the preferences users and groups. Click the lock and authenticate you. Or CTRL - RIGHT click on your username account list in the sidebar and select Advanced Options in the context menu. You will see a field called "Home dir: ' on the far right, you will see an Edit button. Click on it. In the file dialog box, navigate to the location in house now located on the HARD disk (disk HARD/users/user_name /.) Select the folder, click the Open button. Restart the computer, as shown. When the computer starts, it will now use the home located on the HARD drive folder.

Another more technical method involving the Terminal and the alias is discussed in depth here: using OS X with a SSD and HDD - Matt Gemmell configuration. It's my preferred approach because I can choose which records of the House, I want to on the HARD drive and I don't want to. For example, I like to keep Documents and library files on the SSD because I frequently access their content.

Make sure that you keep the bootable system entirely on your HARD drive where you need it.

Hi, I would like to change the hard drive of my computer (Pavilion 15-ab057nr) for one ssd and also add another module of RAM. The problem is that I've never opened a laptop before, and I don't know where to start, or what should I do after I opened the computer. I don't know if anyone could help me by giving me a guide on how to perform these upgrades, every little detail would be useful. Thank you.

    Hi @IYMF,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab057nr and tried to help you! I looked in your question about upgrading the internal hardware. I understand that you are looking to upgrade your hard drive to a Solid State Drive, as well as adding another module of RAM.

Here is a link to your Service Manual. You can find the specifications for compatible discs on page 49. Please note that this laptop model doesn't support that type hybrid Solid State Drives.

Maintenance manual, page 55, there will be a list of the size of RAM supported, but also a guide on the replacement of the RAM. Up to 16 GB of RAM may be supported in a 8GB x 2 configuration.

On pages 46 to 50 of your maintenance manual, you will find instructions on how to remove the rear panel of the laptop, as well as, instructions on the removal of the original hard drive.

I also found this Vidéo Guide giving visual aid on the replacement of the hard disk. The model of laptop in the video is not exactly the same as the model that you have, but it can provide assistance, however.

Please let me know how it goes.

  • T61p how can I back up my hard drive

    <->Hello

My laptop out of no where would not turn on and exposes the 1 long beep and 2 short beeps with a white screen. He is 5 years old and started to act a little, so I had to replace anyway, but my question is how can I save my drive hard if I can't turn on your computer?

I read somewhere there is some type of adapter under $ 10 that plugs directly into the hard drive and then I can plug in my desktop computer... anyone know if this is true and this which is called the cord I need? Or how I could do to get my files on my hard drive?

    Thank you.

Note of the moderator; subject published

Will need you a 2.5 "USB to SATA external enclosure. You can buy some fees at most computer stores, for example the selection to computers Canada. 2 USB works perfectly although you can spend a little more for the newer and more fast USB 3 which will be on your new computer.

Once you have moved the disc again case simply plug into a USB port as if it were a USB flash drive. The operating system will recognize it, install the necessary drivers and allow you to access the help of Windows Explorer or similar.

(Note that this assumes that you does not have a hard drive on the old disk T61p password.)

  • How can I back up my hard drive?

I can't find the command for the backup of my hard drive.  I have an external hard drive ready to receive content from my pc.  I can't find the command.

It seems that you are referring to the native backup program in Windows XP. Do not use! It is very problematic.

Since you want to back up the entire hard drive, you will need to use a third-party software and an external hard drive as the destination for the files in the archive you create. There are a number of programs that create images of entire hard disk (or partitions, if you prefer). I've had positive experiences with Acronis True Image Home. Others have said positive things about Paragon.

Here's a tutorial on the use of Acronis:

    http://www.whatsabyte.com/P1/Acronis_image.htm

In here is a free (but limited) imaging program called DriveImageXML:

    @Lord_Nikon

In fact, this is not true. As long as he uses a large SSD enough it will be able to use the recovery media. I suggest using a SSD of 256 or 512 GB if budgeted for the upgrade...

He doesn't have to make a Windows 7 installation USB drive and use the activation key license on the certificate of authenticity from the PC Windows to perform a cleanup to install.

One of them should be on your PC. The Prodct key is what is needed for installation and activation online.

    Hi dezertdawg,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Msvcr71.dll errors are caused by situations that lead to the removal or corruption of the msvcr71 DLL file. In some cases, the msvcr71.dll errors might indicate a
problem of registry, a virus or malware problem, or even a hardware failure.

You can use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to ensure that the system files are intact and replace the file. Follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.

    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    3. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

  • Pavilion G-6 2209au: Pavilion G - 6 2209au exchange for SSD HARD drive

Hello I have this have upgraded with 6 GB ram and now want to replace the disc for one SSD HARD drive, I read in the forms some how you need to change the bios when you do so, what measures are necessary for the ssd to function? I don't like about backing up files, I'll use as an external HARD drive. Also I have the apu a4 4300 m and would like to get 10 4600 m cpu is this hard to replace or should I pay someone? Thanks for the support

    That's what you have:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03551667

    It is the repair:

    Manual

From the outset I see that you only have 2 GB of RAM. Very easy and inexpensive to spend at least 4 GB. See page 46.

The motherboard is the motherboard. There is no upgrade available. However, you have the CPU AMD A4 and you might fall into a 10 - 4600M. See page 83. It would be a major update and only would no treatment faster, but would provide a slightly better video chip since it is a "APU" with processor and video on the same chip.

Finally, you can exchange the mechanical drive to a SSD drive. The upgrade of the speed would be very noticeable.

That @banhien meant, however, the cost of this can equal or exceed a new laptop. and almost certainly will if you need to pay a technician to do it. The first update I is the RAM, then the SSD and then the last would be the CPU. If you need any help post more come back.

  • Replace T420s with a new SSD HARD drive

    Hello

I wonderd if it is possible to replace with a new SSD HARD drive, while putting the HARD drive in the Bay of Ultra-slot.

And if so, what SSD model should I buy, and how do I transfer the operating system and the data for the SSD?

This SSD model will be compatible?

Corsair neutron Series 120 GB SSD Sata III MLC 2.5 inches Retail

    Thank you very much

    Guy

Yes, what you are proposing is quite feasible. You will need an adapter Ultabay to organize your HARD drive in the Ultrabay housing on your system. These are available from Lenovo, but are relatively expensive. You can get a much less expensive (~ $ 10) a compatible version on eBay. It is not as well finished as the real issue, but it works well.

The best way to transfer everything on your SSD is "clone" of your HARD disk using a software as Acronis True Image. If your current HARD drive is made by Western Digital or Seagate you can get a free copy of Acronis on their Web site. Put the SSD in the SATA drive Bay and the HARD disk in the UtlraBay. Set the T520 to start from the Ultrabay, install/run Acronis here and make a clone for the SSD. Then boot from the SSD and you'll be all set.

With respect to the SSD, many people here have had good success with Crucial M4, 520 Intel and Samsung 830. I guess that Corsair works perfectly as well, but I didn't know all messages from people here who have done so.

Before ordering a SSD confirm if the HARD drive is 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick. Then order the same thickness SSD. This way, you will be able to use the metal rails caddy and rubber who now hold your HARD drive to contain the SSD.

  • 17i wanted to replace SSD HARD drive

I just bought a new screen Envy 17 t tactile image with a 1 TB HARD drive 5400 RPM. At the same time, I bought a new Samsung 840EVO 500 GB SSD with the intention to replace the slower HARD disk with the fastest SSD. I thought it would be a simple switch (I replaced the older drive in my laptop with no problems). I thought it would be a few screws and a small sign removed from underneath the laptop and everything would be made.

But after I got the new machine, I got everything install and running and left information for the SSD HARD drive, I have everything off and returned the machine and unfortunately... There are no signs (as described in the documentation) that I expected. She only siingle piece!

How to HARD drive to replace it? Am I supposed to remove all the screws and remove the bottom or top (where the keyboard is) does jump off and you have access from above?

    Help!

This model requires the removal of the top cover to the hard disk:

-> Wrong question. The question should be:

What should I back up my hard drive?

Many people ignore the fundamental rule of computing: all important files should be stored permanently on two independent media. A lot of people suddenly changes his mind when something goes wrong. It can be a tough lesson to learn.

  • iMac mid-2010 for one SSD HARD drive replacement

    Hello

After reflection, (mainly in the meantime my principalement en attendant mon iMac iMac starts!), I decided to replace the HDD with a SSD. After having done some research and I watch YouTube videos, I'm not sure if I have bought the right tools for the job. Could someone please help me and let me know if I'm not on the right track here.

The iMac in question is a model 27 "2010.

Here's what I have on order:

I also ordered suction cups and relevant screwdrivers.

I intend to completely remove the current HD and its replacement by the new SSD. Am I right assuming that I will just remove current thermal sensor cable and replace it with the one OWC? I'm not 100% on this one.

    Cheers in advance

    Ian

Yes, you just remove the thermal sensor and place the OWC in line sensor (the sticker pad can be placed on the support of 2, 5-2, 5 (as the SSD will not have a lot of heat).  The longer a cable must be re-attached the logic board.

The only suggestion I have would be - it probably need not SATA cables for this-> upgrade SSD HARD drive, thermal line sensor is long enough - in fact, too long that I had to press them to be shaped in the iMac.  Unless you plan to add other SSD in the system, since the iMac 2010 with SATA 2 (3 GB/s speed).

    Good luck

  • External SSD hard drive not detected by Airport Extreme/Time Capsule

Hello everyone, I have the following problem:

    Framework

-J' bought a 1 TB Samsung SSD 840 EVO internal media.

-He is locked in a case of badges and used as an external hard drive

-J' have an Airport Extreme (5th generation)

    -J' have a Time Capsule (4th Gen)

-My MBP detects the SSD external hard drive when it is connected to the USB port and works fine

    Problem

-I connect the external SSD hard drive to the USB port on both TCapsule and AExtreme, but the HD is not detected directly (USD and with powered hub of USD)

-HD was formatted as OS x journaled Extended

-J' tried smb and cifs via 'connect to server', but does not work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Juan

Unfortuantely, Apple did not update the firmware on the USB key (it is still 2.0) port on their routers for a number of years.  As a result, new USB 3.0 drives may or may not work with airports.

Yes, we know that USB 3.0 is supposed to be backward compatible with USB 2.0 in theory, but theory does not always work in practice.

If your drive is formatted as Mac OS extended (journaled)... also called HFS +... .and you have tried the drive with and without a USB hub powered and the reader will not be displayed with you check using the AirPort Utility disks tab... then you have one of a number of readers who do not work with routers from the airport.

I just checked a new LaCie USB 3.0 drive I have here. It works perfectly with a Mac, but it appears not at all when I connect it to the USB port or a powered new AirPort Extreme or new Time Capsule directly, or by using a USB hub.

  • Satellite L50 - A-1 DG - with the new SSD HARD drive replacement

    Satellite L50 - A - 1 DG

I would put my SSD in the PC and install win7 on it. But it does not work.

I try to put the SSD into the DVD rom adapter. It can not been recognized in the bios.

I tried to replace the SSD hard drive. Then the pc cannot start up. And I can't get into the bios or adjustment.

    Someone knows what's the problem?

    > I try to put the SSD into the DVD rom adapter. It can not been recognized in the bios.

This does not work with all models of laptops.
As far as I know that the laptop must support Slim Select Bay and the BIOS should also support this hardware option. But in your case, it doesn t.

One possible solution is the use of SOLID-STATE drive instead of the HARD disk.

You said that you are not able to access the BIOS after these updates.
Well, before you do this (a SSD drive connection) you should access the BIOS and must disable secure boot and must set the start mode MSC mode.

    The comments appreciated.
