How to change startup programs, as MSE disables Defender?

Separated from this thread.

In order to access the startup programs, Vista seems to need Defender.  However, since installing Security Essentials, I not was able to use Defender even temporary or offline!  How would I disable Security Essentials to proceed?

Hello

It is not a good idea to go in this direction:

'How to temporarily disable Microsoft Security Essentials'

Instead of disable MSE to use Defender, use either of the following methods:

To now change the Vista startup programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:

Or the program Autoruns for FREE:

The message means there is a bad path value (probably is something that must be enclosed in quotation marks). The problem is finding * that * one is bad. Try this way:

Click Start, and type Windows Defender, and then the . Click on tools, and then click Software Explorer. It opens for you? First of all, note that you should be in * all * the programs that start automatically, not only with those who are in the system tray. Not all the programs auto-start manifesting by an icon in the status bar.

On each program, you don't want to automatically start, check its Options to see if she has the choice to not start (make sure that you actually choose to not run, not simply a "don't display the icon" option). Many can easily and better be arrested like that. If this does not work, run MSCONFIG from the start. Run the line and on the Startup tab, uncheck the programs that you do not want to automatically start.

However, if I were you, I wouldn't do this just for the purpose of the minimum number of running programs. Despite what a lot of people tell you, you should be concerned, not with the way * a lot * of these programs you run, but * that *. Some of them can seriously affect the performance, but others have no effect on performance.

Don't stop all programs to run willy-nilly. What you need to do is to determine what each program is that its value is for you and what the performance cost is running all the time. You can try searching the Internet and ask questions about the details here.

Once you have this information, you can make a smart informed decision on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of.

Using various hacks registry posted on various sites to redirect the default program installation folder to another drive is not supported by MS and can cause problems.

Most of the programs when you install them have the option for a custom install, where you can specify where / which drive to install, but not all programs have this option. Even if you install a separate drive various files/folders will be written on victory drive.

If the drives D, E & F are separate partitions of a disk, you will need to modify/extend partition in win

  • Satellite Pro C650 - what startup programs I can disable?

After about two weeks with a new Satellite Pro C650 that I bought for my wife, a light user, she is about to pounce on me.

Everything runs slowly. Click Start: wait. Open the control panel: wait. The time-out period is of the order of 20 to 30 seconds. Internet is often more slow - especially Internet Explorer, which often goes in a State does not. (Google Chrome run better even if it's not great either) Measures taken up to now include a defragmentation of the C: drive, which was 5% defragmented. I did a scan troubleshooting out of the control panel and it informs me that I have a lot of programs that run at startup and suggests that disable some. I had read previously that there is a problem with this Toshiba.

The question therefore is what to disable? I don't know what most of the programs are or what they do. I'll list the programs here and then gladly take suggestions. Furthermore, BitDefender has ranked three times in the startup list. I have two of them disabled for what it's worth.

The only apps I downloaded were BitDefender and Adobe Acrobat. McAfee antivirus has been removed. Other laptops in the House work fine with the same broadband wireless connection. Hoping someone can help and tell me what I can disable.

    The startup list:
    SAIICpl Application
    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
    Message Center
    SmartFaceVWatcher
    Catalyst Control Center
    Nero BackItUp
    Default handler
    BitDefender 2011 (figure three times)
    Adobe Acrobat
    Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager
    All of these Toshiba applications:
    -Power Saver
    -Zoom utility
    -Flash Cards
    -ReelTime
    -TEMPRO
    -HDD SSD Alert
    -Volume regulators
    -Computer laptop registration
    -Gas station
    -Application of web camera

    Thank you.

    Hello

First of all, you can discover yourself how unique and applications that are controlled by these applications use google for more details.

But Nero BackItUp, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager can be disabled wihotu having issues with the laptop

TEMPRO is a tool of Toshiba which analyzes systems and provides information on the new Toshiba driver updates
It s your own decision whether or not you want to use
Registration for laptop helps you to register the warranty of notebooks and Station Service provides an option to optimize the performance of laptops, but it s nice to have, but it of not very important

  • Try to change startup programs, but a problem with Windows Defender gets in the way.

I'm trying to delete a program to start automatically when my computer starts.  When I go to control panel and click "Edit startup programs" it tells me that Windows Defender is disabled. So I click on "put in operation and open Windows Defender" and get an error message: 0x800106ba

I found a page that step by step has attempted to resolve this message error, but when I got to the step 2, clickStart, click run, type appwiz.cpl , and then clickOK , Windows Defender wasn't on my list to uninstall.

Any suggestions? I just want to stop a program from starting automatically.

    Thank you!

    1. If you are using Vista, Windows Defender is part of the operating system. It can NOT be uninstalled. He lives and dies with the system.

    2. If you have the following antivirus (AV) installed, Windows defender is supposed to be stopped by the AV:
    Norton
    McAfee
    AVG
    Microsoft Security Essentials

3 here is another way to startup programs...
Start button > in the search box, type msconfig > press the Enter key > uac prompt > Startup tab > you can find the program it?

    4. If you have, see if you are able to activate Windows Defender long enough before your AV it stops again...

Start button > in the search box, typeServices > press the Enter key > scroll to find Windows Defender, click on it >...
topic status , it must be said... Has begun
under Startup Type, it must be said... Automatic
If it does not say that, right click on Windows Defender > click Properties > in the new window, make the necessary changes, as above > click OK when finished.

  • How to remove startup programs in "msconfig".

First of all, care. Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit.

I'm not having the problem to disable startup programs, but trying to remove them from the list available to a start-up program. Some of these programs (the executable file of the command and its location) no longer exist on my system. Is there a way to remove these items in the startup list, and if so, how?

Unfortunately the only real way to do this is through the registry editor.

If you look at the line for the entry to remove it will track the path of the registry which organizes the statement. You need access to this location and delete the entry.

As always sophisticated editing that the registry should be done with caution and a backup taken 1. If you are not sure then do not.

There is a caveat. If you deleted the line (not checked it) then it will not be there. In order to stop this loading MsConfig moves the entry to an inactive backup key. In order to find the location, you will need to make the current line.

Because it has been moved it not treated during startup so other than to try to keep well stored, there is no specific does delete the line. Indeed, if the line points to a nonexistent file or a path then there no same effect if left. Registry of treatment so much more optimized in Windows 7 and entered orphan have no measurable effect on boot time. Delays of timeout that occurred were resolved.

  • How to remove startup programs to include information system?

    I have two questions:

    1. how to eliminate some startup programs - that is to say small icons that appear in the lower right of the screen after the home screen?

    2. What does the following error message, and how can I correct: «entry point procedure RegSetKeyValue is not found in the dynamic library of ink ADVAPTI32.dll»

To answer #1 question, you can use the program 'msconfig' to Microsoft

    (Start-> Run-> "msconfig")

to toggle the elements that run at startup... but especially for diagnostic purposes.

A better way is to download the freeware from Microsoft "AutoRuns".  When you run it, it will show a list of items that run at startup and allow you to uncheck all that you desire.

  • Change startup programs cannot find c:\Program and NTDOSQ.dll

Original title: my computer has problems with programs and c: files... Help, please!

I have windows vista 32-bit. I want to open the start of changing the programs under control panel. When I clik above, it is you cannot find C:\Program said.  Also, when I start my computer and everything is loaded to the top, a windo error appears and says, he could load c:\users\Alix\AppData\Roaming| NTDOSQ.dll

Before to try this I'm about to tell you to set a system restore point.

Your problem seems to be an incorrect entry in the registry.  There is a startup item whose path contains a space (the space between "Program" and "Files" in "Program Files" and the path is not cited.  Press Windows key + R.  In the open field, type

    Regedit

Press ENTER.  In the left pane, expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then CurrentVersion.  Select run.  In the right pane, you should see the elements that run at startup.  Make sure that any value that contains a path containing spaces quotes the path.  Fix all the entries by double clicking on it in the right pane to open them.  You should check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE as well.  The same folder under this hive contains also start values.  You can even see the NTDOSQ. The DLL value it.  I searched this DLL and there is nothing I could find on the subject, so I don't know if his legitimate or not.
