How to change the boot order in Windows 7.

I have a 64-bit operating system and I'm trying to remove windows 7 and install Vista. When I press F8, I take to a screen that does not allow me to change the boot order. If Windows 7 keeps on loading and the DVD are never read. How can I change the options, then the boot order is changed and the DVD are read and I can install Vista.

Help please.

Hello

Check with your system manufacturer support, their books online and ask in their forums (if any).

Configuration/settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 as you start then look at the screen that will tell you how-
the order of boot on CD/DVD drive everything first. Some systems use F12 or other keys to allow a time change
in the boot order.

I hope this helps.

  • How to change the boot order, XPS 13 (9350)?

New XPS 13 in front of me. I want to clean install the OS on this machine. In my XPS 15, (L502X), the BIOS has been designed so that even I was able to understand things, such as changing the boot order so that I can start off the coast a USB. But in the 13 I'm not finding it so intuitive. I'm sure it's me, but I had rather not fuss around and screw things, so I thought I would come here to ask: what are the steps to change the order of boot on this machine? Thank you.

Recovery settings, update. Or let tapping F12 boot menu access, as soon as you restart the system. No need to start Media bios changes. Not a good idea to clean install windows on a new computer. This procedure is old technology and not necessary on new models of uefi and can cause irreparable damage. Windows and all the rest is a single image file not installed piecemeal, as years ago. You will screw things if you apply old procedures to a whole new operating system.

  • How to change the boot order in the BIOS?

I have a gateway computer. I recently bought a WD My Book Essential external hard drive. It took me a while to change the setting to get the computer to boot with the connected outside of the bios.
WD has maintained that the hard 'C' drive must be the first point for the system to look for, now it's third. I entered the BIOS and highlighted the 'C' drive, but I can't figure out how to move it to the top of the list.
I entered both boot menu and I have the same problem, how do I move the 'C' drive to the top of the list.

If anyone can help I would surely enjoyed it.

First of all, 'you' here are just a bunch of volunteers with varying degrees of knowledge and expertise - we are not Microsoft.

The "IBA GE SLOT" is the option to start on the network.  This should be the last for most people.

You don't need really SmartWare of WD.  It is an automated backup solution.  Once you have performed the initial backup, SmartWare runs in the background, automatically update your backup, you change files on your primary hard drive.  It's a good thing to have, but if it does not work, you can perform backups manually (or in a variety of other ways).  The important thing is to actually do the backups, however, you choose ultimately make.

I don't know anything about SmartWare, then I can't recommend against her otherwise than to suggest that you look in Event Viewer (start > run > eventvwr > OK) application log for any errors that have come from SmartWare.  If you find something that could help you - or WD support - to understand what is happening.

I wouldn't worry too much about a 30 second delay between the Windows startup screen and go to your office.  Now that you mention it, I sometimes feel a significant delay subjectively, but I never associated with the My Book - maybe it is linked.

I'm trying to install a new copy of windows 10 but currently it does not show an option to boot from usb. There are only two options i.e. BONE Boot Manager, BOOT from the file of EFI. I need to go into BIOS to change the boot order, but it asks for administrator password.

I don't remember set the BIOS password on my laptop, and yet I've tried some of the passwords mentioned on the forums but none of them worked. I can't remove CMOS battery, which is part of the solution, because it requires for me to disassemble the laptop.

Please suggest me any solution that I have not been able to understand all other sources.

  • Re: Satellite A210-10 has, crashes when you change the boot order

    Hello

I have a serious problem with my computer Toshiba laptop, Windows Vista 32-bit, clocked at 1.8 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, AMD Turion 64 x 2
There is only a single disk partitioned into two drives of 75 GB (C and E).

The problem is that whenever I enter the start menu (for boot from CD), or if I change in the BIOS boot order and restart, the computer hangs (power cut off suddenly).
So the only way to recover, is to connect the AC/DC adapter, wait 5 minutes and repeat. Then, everything lights up normally or launches of Windows system recovery, after what he will restart and work very well.

It would be important to know that I partitioned the drive to have 30 GB for installing Win7 later. The problem is that I've never tried to change the boot order before repartitioning, so I don't know if it has something to do with the problem or if it was there before.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

It seems that the issue related to the Bios. Have you tried to put update or reflash?

Maybe this has happened before, but you don't check.

  • Elite 8000 LTS: can ' t get into the BIOS to change the boot order

I want to change the boot order to allow booting from the ISO disks.

Keyboard F10 doesn't bring up the BIOS screen, and the machine starts just in Win7.

What works is by exchanging the mouse and keyboard usb for mouse and existing keyboars.

Looks like that the installation of Win 7 bothered recognition of USB designs.

  • Satellite R630-141 - cannot change the boot order

I have a Toshiba R630-141 and I'm changing the boot order in the Bios, but the Bios does not allow me to choose my cd drive or a USB drive as the startup disk.

I've updated the Bios today to the latest version, thinking that I need the latest version but still the Bios allows me to change the order.

The problem is the screen flashes only when I'm in the form of change of boot order. When I select the upper and down arrows to select an option in the box just blinks and does not allow me to select any option.

I tried the tab key, the number keys basically all of the keys that I on the keyboard, and still, I can't select usb or cd drive so I have to quit and restart.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi scarpentier,

You can change the boot order in the BIOS and booting from another boot device? Go into the BIOS and change the boot order. Enter a startup disk (e. g. Toshiba recovery disc), save & exit the BIOS Setup. The computer will restart and should boot from the CD.

    Check this box!

    Hello Susan

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop you have. By the description of the problem, it is always useful to know the exact model of laptop.

When you turn off your laptop, press F12 and let us know exactly what is happening. By the way: can you explain what happen when you try to change the boot order in the BIOS settings?

How to change the tab order of an array of clusters?  I have the cluster arranged into a table in the front panel.   The element of the cluster passes horizontal and array element passes vertically.   When I press the tab key, the cursor will move to the item next to the table instead of the next item in the cluster (down to the place overall).

so you have an array of clusters or cluster and the separate table?

  • TravelMate 2480. I can't change the boot order.

    Hello
I thought I posted this before, but I can't find the post.

I have two laptops from Acer 2480.
    2480-2943 and 2480-2247.
The 2943 is my laptop everyday.
    I keep the 2247 as a backup.
    Both running XP Home.
I used the 2247 to clone my desktop hard drive.
I need to change the boot order so that I could reboot from the hard disk and not get hung up on the USB hard drive.
I put it to boot from USB before Primory hard disk a few years so that I can boot from a USB key.
In the BIOS, when I try to change the boot order by moving the internal hard drive upward, using the ' Shift + ' I hear a beep and nothing happens.
I changed the front boot order but now I can't.
    There is no password.
So I tried e the same on the 2943 and found I have the same problem with that.
I changed the boot on this one before order.

    Any ideas?
    Joe

Instead of pressing "Shift +" to change the position, use the arrow keys to highlight the item you want to move and press F6 or F7 to change the boot priority.
