How to clear search words to search for office files?

I moved a bunch of files into a new folder on my desktop and then used the search box of the file to search for key words.  Now the search words appear whenever I'm looking for anything in any folder.  How can I clear the search history?  Using Norton to erase files Temp of Windows does not seem to do.  TIA.

You're comfortable with changes in the Windows registry, this place where we are warned that we might accidentally mess up the computer with one false move?  If so, the fix is not difficult.  In any case, here are my notes on the subject:

When you enter search terms in a search box of Windows 7, they are stored in the Windows registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\WordWheelQuery and appear as suggestions for further research.  To remove the terms stored, remove the whole part of the registry.  (Search terms are stored in hexadecimal code and therefore are not recognizable as regular text here.)  To prevent the storage of search terms, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer, right-click on Explorer, right-click again and click on DWORD (32-bit) value, type DisableSearchBoxSuggestions and press ENTER.  DoubleClick DisableSearchBoxSuggestion, type 1 for the value, and then click OK.

How can I search in Windows 7 for all files not containing a speific (_) character in the file?

I have two files with about 50 000 files in each folder.  There are many copies of the same file (only one folder contains photos, the other file has data files.  In the two files copies have the same name as the original file, for example IMG01, but identified for example IMG01_1, IMG01_2, etc..)

I would like to find all files that DO NOT have a _ in them.  Can I do this?  How?

Or I have to search for all files that have a _ by searching for * _ *?  Delete these files?

I tried, but program trotted for 2 hours.  Just take a while?

I thought that if I could search only files without the _ it would be more effective.

Less than 20% of the files in each folder have not a _ in them.

You should be able to use a? or * to replace a number of characters that are either unique or variable.  * book would find both book and facebook, or? ook would only book.

Anyway, there's probably not a way to identify the files corrupted by a search.

  • How can I search for all files that begin with "~" with a tilde

With Windows XP, it's simple. I would like to do a search for "~ *.» ' * ' and I want to find all files that began with a tilde. That no longer works. My computer is full of unnecessary files that I want to delete and they are not getting cleaned by the utilities that I have. Thank you

If you actually surround the search term ~ *. * with quotes "~ *.» ' * ' it should work here.

  • Search for all files? Search by creation date?

How can I search within all files?  I know that the files are there and contain the words I'm looking for, but Windows cannot find them.  Some files do not have extensions, some have a .bak extension and some have various other extensions.

Also, I see an option to search by modification date, but not created.  How can I search for all files on my hard drive, created on a particular date (including the .dll, .exe, etc..).  I'm trying to find all the files that were installed with an application.  The files have different change dates, but all have the same creation date (when the application has been installed).

I do not understand how that returns results for all files (including non indexed files).  Can you please explain?

The search interface has been simplified at the request of the overwhelming majority of users. Until a more sophisticated user, you liked the very high amount of control WHAT XP gave it. The new interface 7 has fewer orders. When the research opens, you will see an "additional search... "Computer" and other. Since you are obviously in control of syntax, the interface for non indexed opening files is quite simple. There is always the option to expand the index to include everything. (Control panel/Indexing Options)

If your index still don't "look in" a file, you can try to assign an 'association' for the file type. I have no idea what the .xyz file type might have as a native association, but you can associate this notebook. (right-click, open with, choose default program..., see the box always 'use..')

  • How can I use windows search to search for pdf files containing a specific word?

I have a folder with several pdf files. When I use windows search for a word that I know exists in one of the files, I get no results. It does not work when I use the content: either.

How can I use windows search to search for pdf files containing a specific word?

Do I need to install something to activate search within .pdf?

If you use Win7 32 bit, the iFilter is bundled with Acrobat Reader 9. On Win7 64-bit, you will need to install it separately.

  • How can I search for hexadecimal number of 32-bit in .csv file

    Hello

How can I search for 32-bit in .csv file usinf labview 8.6.1 hexadecimal number

    Mathan,

This post was not really a solution.  He just ordered Sandy to post in the appropriate forum, which we now know is LabVIEW 8.6.1 LV.

    Sandy,

You want to read the text file, then use the search/Split String function to find the matching characters that make up your hexagonal pattern.

What you ask is a little strange wordly since .csv files are text files, and you ask a "32-bit hexadecimal number.  Can you give an example of what you are looking for?  My response assumes you have a 8 string that consists of the characters 0-9, A - F for catch the 4 bytes.  Maybe you are dealing with just 4 bytes that present themselves as ASCII characters in a text file.  In which case you wouldn't have one. CSV file.

If the response of research/Split String is not useful to you, you will need to provide details about what you are looking for and also an example of your. CSV file.

Try a smart album with the constraints "matches all of the following conditions.

    • Album is an album

    File > new Smart Album:

If you do not find all the videos, videos "MOV", includes "filename includes MOV.

    OT: Help search.

Hello, I want to seek a photo (.jpg), photography is as the name of 5225.jpg, which consists of four digits. How can I search for all photos that have names composed of four numbers? Thank you

I don't know how to search only images that carry the 4 numbers, but I know how to find a file that is exactly 4 letters long and ends with ".jpg".

To do this, type this in your search box (exactly as it is, including quotation marks):

    "file name:"? "jpg"

It will search for all files that have exactly 4 characters followed by .jpg at the end.
