How to connect wlc 5508 on 2 switches for redundancy

Hi, I'm planning implementation of WLC5508, but in the documentation is not clear how to connect WLC5508 to two chassis for redundancy. I do it with WLC4404, where I have the opportunity to choose the primary and secondary port for the management interface. I understand that in 5508 management interface is not mapped to any port.

You can always set the primary/secondary ports as long as you have not enabled lag. If you try to use two different switches so you should not LAG have enabled anyway (unless it is a battery 3750 or vss)

You can always set several AP-managers as well.  By default, the management interface is an ap - manager, but he will not be an ap-Manager on the port of relief if you have a defined ap-Manager for the port...   Make sense?

Just think of the 5508 ports defined as a 4400, except that you don't have to have a Manager AP for each port, unless you want a...

  • How to connect a device to capture video for Satellite M30X 127

I'm going round in circles trying to find a video capture device that will work with a laptop computer and would be grateful for advice. For example, I am now looking to the ' Canopus ADVC-110', although still looking autour (but not Pinnacle, which seem to have a bad reputation for the elements of capture).

    Problems include:

    1. the main problem is - many video capture devices require a "line-in" for PC for audio transfer of good quality. This laptop is not a line in, only headphones and mike catches. In addition, I also tried a few RCA pins into the 3.5 mm headset jack, and they were too small. How to solve the problem of getting audio from the VCR to my PC?

    2. the ADVC-110 connects to the PC via Firewire (and S-video), but is a type of SIX pins. M30X is a FOUR pin type. There are adapters available?

    3. Some capture programs seem to require a huge capacity of RAM. A laptop will be adapted to do the job? (I just want to capture old VCR to PC vhs tapes, and then burn it to DVD with Nero 7 or similar).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

You are right! You must use an external device for the transmission of signals to your laptop. I put t know where you have this info but I have good experiences with Pinnacle product. I used the USB data transfer.

"Canopus ADVC-110 is not known to me, but I put t see why this shouldn't work well." Use made software for video capture and there should not be any problem.

The only thing is that, after registration of video equipment together must be prepared to burn and the unit need a lot of power to do this well und fast. When you buy it and to use on the way I recommend to extend the RAM to 1 GB.

Compatible memory modules for your Satellite M30x are:
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

    > The tab android supports miracast and the TV has Intel widi.

I m not very well, but I think that Intel WiDi version which is part of the TV does not support the Miracast. The TV is in 2012 and the Miracast was announced in 2013

To my knowledge the Intel new Wireless Display v3.5 support Miracast.
The first versions of Intel WiDi does not support the Miracast.

    Hello Meri_AOL,

Thank you for using Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

To connect your computer to a television, your computer must have a video port that matches one of the inputs on your TV.

If your TV does not have a VGA or DVI input that matches an output on your computer, you'll need to use cables S-video or composite video. If your computer does not have one of these TV-compatible outputs, then you might be able to install a new video card that has the right connection.

    1. turn off your computer and place it near your TV. Unplug the monitor, but leave the mouse and keyboard connected.

    2. connect the appropriate video cable from the video port on your computer to your TV.

    3. turn on your TV and set it to the input that matches the video port connected to your computer. You may need to refer to your TV user guide for instructions on how to do it.

    4 turn on your computer.

You should see windows displayed on your TV.

If please reply and let us know if your problem is resolved or if you need more help

  • WLC 5508 joined connected vs status

    Hello

What is the difference between the status of 'Joint' and 'Connected' AP on the controller of Cisco 5508 wireless in HA configuration?

I have two WLC 5508 in HA configuration. October 3 the controller switchovered with reason "Active controller failed" (attached file 1). I tried to understand why the controller has failed, but I did not find the reason.

Now, there are a lot of AP (not all) in the 'connected' State, not 'Supported in status' (attached file 2).

What is the meaning? and why in the details ' AP join stats ' (attachment 3 and 4) tha AP are well attached status? It's a licensing issue? I can solve this problem with a manual failover to main controller?

    Thank you for the help

You have a license for 250 AP on your primary controller and the secondary is a SKU or has at least 50 AP license to act like a HA.

As long as the main unit is available for the secondary unit (active) it will not perform the countdown. 90 days don't apply if the main unit is unavailable for more than 90 days in a row. If the secondary image (active) loses power and the principal is unavailable when it starts again, it will go into maintenance mode.

  • How to connect Cisco SG-300-10 L3 switch selector mode in Mode of L2 SG-300-20

Ladies and gentlemen, please forgive me if you find my question too basic. But, I would really appreciate your help. I have two Cisco switches (SG-300-10 and SG-300-20) and I am struggling to connect with each other.

Requirements: Switch Cisco SG-300-10 which is in needs of L3 mode to send the traffic of VLAN tagged to the switch Cisco SG-300-20, which is the mode of L2

    What I've done so now

1 Cisco SG-300-10 (Mode L3) to the router directly connected and configured IP addresses, 192.168.0.21. The GVRP is configured for Port 5. Created the VLAN 1000 with interface IP (192.168.100.1) and configured the Port 5 trunk mode (1U, 1000 t)

2 connected Cisco SG-300-20 (L2 Mode) to the router and set up the IP address management, 192.168.0.22. The GVRP is configured for Port 5. 1000 of VLANS created and configured the Port 5 trunk mode (1U, 1000 t)

    What does not work

I can't access the address of management of the L2 (192.168.0.22) switch. Note that the L2 switch only on the uplink, which is to the L3 switch. Since the Port 5 also receives no marked traffic of VLAN1 (192.168.1.1), I'm assuming that he would receive the network management of VLAN1.

    Other Observations

When I connect the cable between the two switches Port5, I expect to exchange information of VLAN, by documentation. But the lights flash at all.

    I tried other things

I tried to connect Port 2 (1U) L3 Switch switch 2 L3 Port (1U). Yet, I can't access to the management of the L2 switch port. However, when I connect 2-Port L3 switch to my laptop, I get an IP address. That tells me that I have to solve the problem of management network pair before the switches.

    Hi Späti,

I think the confusion is the use of the address IP address to you and how you manage your computer.

    VLAN 1 = 192.168.1.1

    VLAN 1000 = 192.168.0.21

How I read that you connect layer 2 VLAN 1 on 192.168.0.21 switch to layer 3 of the same VLAN 1 interface to 192.168.1.1. It's confusing.

So first thing to do is this - change layer 2 switch network 192.168.1.x IP and confirm management works on VLAN 1.

If you want to layer 2 switch works on VLAN 1000, then you need to change the default VLAN 1000, then you can configure your uplink either as the way which you have 1u, 1000 t, or you can use 1000u.

Your management VLAN on the layer 2 switch is VLAN 1 still unless you changed it (which did you not?)

A next important thing for the layer 2 switch is going to be the default gateway. The switch of level 3, you need to specify the address IP of the VLAN 1000, which I think you did to 192.168.0.21/24. This 192.168.0.21 must be the default gateway for the layer 2 switch.

Finally, the computer you connect to layer 3 switch, what that either VLAN that you choose to connect to (1 unidentified), you need to set the IP and default gateway appropriate. So if you're going to VLAN 1 then your computer is 192.168.1.x with gateway 192.168.1.1

And for the comment extra, GVRP is a horrible Protocol and very pitiful, I don't recommend to use.

You can retrieve the RADIUS shared secret key as other passwords that are stored on the WLC by using the procedure at the following link:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/community/NetPro/wireless-mobility/begin-wireless/blog/2011/11/04/recover-wepadminguest-account-password-from-WLC

NOTE: WPA keys are not available through these methods.

Basically, you can enable password in clear text on the wlc with 'config passwd-cleartext enable' and then issue a "view orders of the running-config' - your RADIUS configuration command should now display the shared secret.

How can I see the modules of the line connected to this switch and how to connect the switch processor?

    Hello

Your switch runs hybrid, which means it runs CatOS on the SP and IOS on the RP.  You are connected to the RP to be able to use the hybrid you must first connect to the SP and then you can get the PR by issuing the command-session 15 that will register you in the RP that takes place in IOS. To return to the SP just type "exit" and it drops you to MS.

    Hope this helps. !

  • Interface WLC 5508 AP-Manager

Hi, I own a WLC 5508 and (probably), I do not understand the AP Manager interfaces. I have a laboratory with 2 x 1242AG and 1 x 1252AG connected to c2960. APs in vlan 10 (192.168.10.0/24, configured via DHCP), APs are connected to interface 'switchport access mode. C2960 is connected via a trunk to c4506 and WLC is plugged into article gi1/3 and article gi1/4 (both through twingig). The two ports are configured as 'switchport mode trunk ". WLC management interface is IDE oucederomsurlesecondport WLC 8 (linked to article gi1/4), and AP-Manager is on port 1 (connected to article gi1/3) WLC. WLC management interface has 'Management dynamic AP' set to off, and AP-Manager defined activated. The two are interfaces to management and AP-Manager tag, vlan id 12 and 13 (subnets 192.168.12.0/24, 192.168.13.0/24) respectively. APs receive their IP through DHCP configuration (server located in vlan 20, 192.168.20.0, in use ip helper-address) and try to discover DNS resolution WLC (CISCO-CAPWAP - CONTROLLER.some.domain resolves to AP-Manager IP correctly). But AP has the status "not connected" in monitor/statistics/AP join APs do not join to the controller, said WLC "Discovery request Ignoring received on the management interface".

But if I put management interface as "Dynamic AP activated" and change the DNS to resolve CISCO-CAPWAP... it's IP everything works well - AP is associated with the time. Please help, how to reach the KNEES a AP-Manager interface? Sign up for the Manager of WLC is simple, but my design requires at least 2 interfaces AP Manager.

If you have a 5508, why you have the AP Manager?
