How to continuous shut down Firefox update

So I tried to disable updates via settings, and without fail a day or two later it is updated to the latest version once again. Any thoughts?

And before everyone starts saying that I need to be updated to the last and largest, please tell the Western Australian Government. The only reason why I need the old version is access to some government resources that are not accessible through new versions of firefox.

Hi condonmj, I I had sorted it in the end. Try this:

Download the installation program downloaded to which version you need.
Deconnecter disconnect completely from the internet unplug the cables and turn WiFi as needed.
Install Firefox.
Open Firefox, disable the auto update and never check the value.
Reconnect to the internet.

It turns out the problem was that in the second half, or so it took to tell him to never update, he was already download and install the latest and best (supposedly).

Hope that helps.

  • HP 430: frequent how do I shut down my PC?

    Hello

    I hope you don't mind me asking this question. I could not help but know, using PC (laptop) is part of daily life, it is sometimes more than 10 hours should continue to work one day. So a lot of stress on this issue. In general, I'm used to shut down my PC each night before going to sleep and start the next day morning. We know all that I have a few other options available like keep my PC in standby or hibernate instead of shutdown. Now my question is what is the best practice of how to keep my PC in good health? Should I daily shout down and start again as mentioned above or I can keep it in sleep for a few days etc. Which is good for practice? My PC is HP 430.

    Thank you

              Log on to an administrator account or the account used to install Firefox.
            * 2

              Open a Firefox browser window.
            * 3

              Locate the browser's menu. Select "Tools" and "Options" and wait for the pop-up window to appear. Choose "Advanced" and "Update."
            * 4

              Find the portion of the "Update" section that reads "Automatically Check for Updates to..." and uncheck "Firefox." You also have the choice of deselecting "Installed Add-ons" and "Search Engines." If you decide to uncheck the other two, Add-ons and Search Engines will not be checked for updates, either.
            * 5

              Verify that the "When Updates to Firefox are Found..." section grays. A gray section means that the section is no longer relevant and that updates will no longer be checked.
            * 6

              Click "OK" and enjoy an update-free Firefox web-browsing experience.
            * 7

              Select "Help" and "Check for Updates" in Firefox's menu or visit Firefox's official website regularly to check for new updates. Firefox should always be updated to the newest build so that security features are installed and you and your personal information remain protected while on the Internet.

    I hope this helps!

  • How can I stop the Firefox update automatically?

    I tried all the options under tools options advanced updated and none of them NOT to disable automatic updates. One being selected at one time Firefox will improve without the approval of the user, which is complete and utter crap.

    I have to maintain an application that must run on version 3.6 of Firefox and may not be appealed to any later version is used only for access control application.

    I'm sick and tired of having to uninstall and reinstall Firefox, whenever he goes in direct violation of my settings and updates itself automatically. Why even have a setting for this if the setting is completely ineffective?

    You can install an older version of Firefox portable to access Web sites that do not work with the current version of Firefox.

    You can set the preference app.update.url an empty string on the topic: config page to prevent verification of updates of Firefox.

    Hello

    1. How did you shut down the computer?
    2. are - it stop with the power button on the computer?

    If so, this causes the computer in a standby / hibernation
    If you shut down properly by clicking on start > stop, then you must wait until the computer is shut down before you close the lid of the laptop.

    Firefox continues to try to update each time I open the browser, and it then puts a message saying update failed. It does this on both of my computers. We already have the latest version, the other does not. How can I stop Firefox to do this?

    If there are problems with the implementation at day then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to remove all remaining files.

    Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

    Uninstall your current version of Firefox, if possible.

    • Do NOT remove the data of a personal nature when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data, because all profile files will be deleted.

    Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

    Your bookmarks and other profile data stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

  • after firefox updated the last time, adobe as well updated, now when some loading sites, I have a program needs you permission to continue which is Adobe DLM. What's up with that and how do I stop?

    The problem started when firefox updated at startup. This screen is what vista puts whenever you are about to load something again. I have already installed the adobe update twice and it continues.

    The Adobe DLM is not required for Adobe products to work. You can uninstall it open the control panel and select Add / Remove programs. In the list of programs, select Adobe DLM (may be listed as Adobe Download Manager) and click on delete.

  • When I try to shut down my computer with Firefox running it hangs and stops the shutdown process.

    When I try to shut down my computer with Firefox running, it does not close properly during the closing. Instead, it crashes (as described in this article) and will continue to do so until I have stop the shutdown process and close it manually, where it will still not respond. There is the substantive issue. Here is the list of the relevant data to identify more precisely:

    On the list of programs is still active during the closure, the window of Firefox starts only appearing once as it should be, but a few seconds after starting to hang, it begins to appear a second time on the bottom of the list, with the specific name of the page is a duplicate of whatever it is on the original.

    This problem does not occur in safe mode, but it is not caused by one of my addons either, as I figured out after disabling all my addons with tools > Modules rather than the safe mode and still the problem.

    He is listed as that passes several times a week, but that is simply because that's how many times I forgot to close Firefox before pressing 'closed' and leaves the room without bothering to check it works. It happens whenever I try to turn off the computer with Firefox is running well.

    See this article--> occurs not in Safe Mode

    Check and say whether his work after turning off hardware acceleration.

    I am running Firefox 5.0.1 on Windows XP. DSL. Often, he uses a ton of memory, so I go out. However, it continues to run under the 'process' in the Windows taskbar, not to release memory.
