How to copy outlook express email and files from one account to another

Outlook Express

My husband & I share a computer. It has 1 side and I the other.  Until recent Outlook Express has been available on its side of the computer.  It is the primary identity and I hace an account out of it.  Recent updates have allowed to have Outlook Express on my side of the computer also.  How to copy all my files on his side of the computer & bring to my side?  I am old and computer illiterate...  Also, I don't understand the questions they ask me when I try to open Outlook express on my side of the computer... What is a pop3 server?  How can I know if this is what I have?

  1. What is a 'Party '? Different user profiles?
  2. You have your own e-mail address?

You must copy the entire message of his profile store and put it on the desktop of your profile and then in OE, import from an OE store directory. You can import only the records you want.

    Open the folder in OE and highlight all messages (Ctrl + A) and then just drag them to the folder.  You can drag the in a WLMail folder later if you wish.

    If you want to do more than a record of messages...

    Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

    Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

    In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

    In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

    Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

    Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

    How to transfer files as music from one account to another? my old account has a virus and it got currupted and I want to know how to put my old files in my new account.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

    "Fix a corrupted user profile.

    Try this method.

    To copy files to the new user profile

    After creating the profile, you can copy the files from the existing profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to perform these operations, including the new account that you created.

    1. Log on as a user other than the new user that you created or the user that you want to copy the files.

    2. Open Documents by clicking on the button start , and then clicking Documents.

    3. Click on the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.

      If you don't see the Tools menu, press ALT.

    4. Click the view tab, click Show files and folders, protected the clear theHide operating system files check box, and then click OK.

    5. Find the C:\Users\Old_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed, and where ancien_nom_utilisateur represents the name of the profile you want to copy the files to.

    6. Select all the files and folders in this folder, except the following files:

      • Ntuser.dat

      • Ntuser.dat.log

      • Ntuser.ini

    7. Click the Edit menu and then click on copy.

      If you don't see the Edit menu, press ALT.

    8. Look for the C:\Users\New_Username folder, where C represents the drive Windows is installed, and New_Username is the name of the new user profile you created.

    9. Click the Edit menu and then click on paste.

      If you don't see the Edit menu, press ALT.

    10. Sign out and then sign back in as a new user.

      If you have messages in e-mail, such as Windows Mail, you must import your e-mail messages and addresses to the new user profile before you delete the old profile. If everything is working properly, you can delete the old profile.

    If the steps above don't fix the problem, you should contact your provider of customer support for assistance. To find more information about customer support options that apply to this computer, click the button start , click Help and Support, and then click the ask someone or expand your search link at the bottom of the Help window.

  • BSOD after copying the large number of files from one disk to another

    Hello. I hope you can help because this issue is very frustrating. Just built a new PC:

    System can work very well for everyday, but when I copy large number of files from one disk to another (i.e. 70 000 files, 80 GB), shortly after (10 to 30 minutes), I get a BSOD bugcheck.

    I ran MEMTEST86 for hours without error. I can run PRIME95 with max heat without error. And as I said, it seems to be fine until I do a copy of large files. It seems not to matter to this disc, I copy to/from. Start WIndows, I see no activity CHKDISK. Ideas?

    If all else fails, there's only so much you can do with an error like this, checking until it boils down to a faulty processor that needs to be replaced. Start from 1 and work down:

    1. make sure your temperatures are the norm and nothing is overheating. You can use a program such as Speccy if you want to monitor the time - http://www.piriform.com/speccy

    2 clear your CMOS (or optimized load BIOS default) to ensure that there is no parameter incorrect BIOS - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

    3. make sure that your BIOS is up to date.

    4 if all else fails, the only one left to do is replace your CPU because it is defective.

    8.3.4 Renaming a Datafile in the Primary Database

    When you rename one or more datafiles in the primary database, the change is not propagated to the standby database. Therefore, if you want to rename the same datafiles on the standby database, you must manually make the equivalent modifications on the standby database because the modifications are not performed automatically, even if the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter is set to AUTO.

    The following steps describe how to rename a datafile in the primary database and manually propagate the changes to the standby database.

       1.

          To rename the datafile in the primary database, take the tablespace offline:

          SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tbs_4 OFFLINE;

       2.

          Exit from the SQL prompt and issue an operating system command, such as the following UNIX mv command, to rename the datafile on the primary system:

          % mv /disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_4.dbf
          /disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_x.dbf

       3.

          Rename the datafile in the primary database and bring the tablespace back online:

          SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tbs_4 RENAME DATAFILE      2> '/disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_4.dbf'
            3>  TO '/disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_x.dbf';
          SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tbs_4 ONLINE;

       4.

          Connect to the standby database, query the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view to verify all of the archived redo log files are applied, and then stop Redo Apply:

          SQL> SELECT SEQUENCE#,APPLIED FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG ORDER BY SEQUENCE#;
          SEQUENCE# APP
          --------- ---
          8 YES
          9 YES
          10 YES
          11 YES
          4 rows selected.

          SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;

       5.

          Shut down the standby database:

          SQL> SHUTDOWN;

       6.

          Rename the datafile at the standby site using an operating system command, such as the UNIX mv command:

          % mv /disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_4.dbf /disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_x.dbf

       7.

          Start and mount the standby database:

          SQL> STARTUP MOUNT;

       8.

          Rename the datafile in the standby control file. Note that the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter must be set to MANUAL.

          SQL> ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE '/disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_4.dbf'
            2> TO '/disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_x.dbf';

       9.

          On the standby database, restart Redo Apply:

          SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE
            2> DISCONNECT FROM SESSION;

    If you do not rename the corresponding datafile at the standby system, and then try to refresh the standby database control file, the standby database will attempt to use the renamed datafile, but it will not find it. Consequently, you will see error messages similar to the following in the alert log:

    ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
    ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock datafile 4 - see DBWR trace file
    ORA-01110: datafile 4: '/Disk1/oracle/oradata/payroll/tbs_x.dbf'

    Hope that helps.

  • Transfer programs and files from one computer to another

    My old computer is an HP ME edition. I transferred programs and files to a HP with Vista Home Premium. Will the old programs and files, my computer run more slowly, and can I remove the old ME programs and files without interfearing with Vista OS?  Thank you

    First of all, you can not transfer programs from one computer to another - well, you can try, but it almost certainly won't work because the programs must be installled to make sure that ALL the files and registry entries are added correctly and created.  Delete, nothing like you have transferred because it will be of no use and just take place.

    As far that range from data, you can transfer data and should not affect the performance of your system (unless you have a LOT of files - and I mean a LOT).  Move them to the appropriate folders in your user profile to make them easier to find (and backup).

    Certainly, you can delete the old program files and data that you have transferred without causing any problem for Vista.  Just be careful that you ONLY delete these files and do not delete Vista files accidentally while you do.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Moving files from one account to another account

    I need to transfer files on vista from a user account to a different user account. Is this possible?

    Sure. Do it from an administrative account, or even more simply - copy the files in the Public directory on a single account. Now, when you connect to the other user account, you will have no problem by copying the files that are in the Public access to Documents of the user, etc.. And for more information:

    User - recommended configuration (Vista and Win7) accounts

    You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all other Windows 7, Vista, and modern operating systems are operating systems multi-user with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

    In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges on Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it may require more work you want to do. Better not to get into a bad situation at first.

    The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

    If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

    Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
    Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

    Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • How to move the FILE from one place to another and keep "Indexing" have to move to the unknown location so you can't discover its full file path? Windows instructions provide information wrong re: how to do this!

    Make a bunch of audio files, placed in a folder on my desktop. Files initially sent to RealPlayer to burn, but when finished burning CD and went to read a CD, folder got seized by Media Player, 'Indexed' and disappeared from the office. I'm a relatively new computer user, and I need to learn more about file paths, how to view the path FULL of a file on my computer and how to type (create) full path when I need to. The "Indexing" feature seems to erase this lesson for me, and after having spent four hours trying to find Vista instructions on "How to move the file from one place to another", I gave up! Windows 'Help and Support' on my computer gives wrong directions. It states that if I right click on a folder > properties, a dialog box opens with a tab by which I can move my account. There is no tab location here. I found locations tab when right click on the "Mobile" folder, but still no option to "move file". No idea what is the folder "Roaming" or why it's on my computer. I want my audio files in the My Music folder, but this place is "access denied." Don't know how to get the audio file it in any case, but if anyone has any advice, I would be very happy! Thank you. PS - I had no problem moving folders in XP. I don't like the idea that a computer is to decide where to put my files. I want to control where I put my files. I don't like the way search works under Vista. I liked the XP search companion better because, for a computer fool like me, it was really easy to organize and find files and folders and had an option specific to find audio and video file TYPES.

    Here is an article on how to move your personal folders in Vista: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/moving-your-personal-data-folders-in-windows-vista-the-easy-way/.  If you're talking about the special folders (such as photos, Documents, office...), then here is an article on how to move: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/95/1/How-to-move-the-special-folders-in-Windows-Vista.html.

    If you have trouble with the search after you move the files, then rebuild the index: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2103/vista_rebuilding_the_search_index/.  Here is an article on how to use Indexing Options in Vista that may be useful for you: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/69581-indexing-options.html.

    If the above does not help, your problem seems to relate to the image of the files/folders and their interactions with Media Center (which operate on different other folders).  Please repost your question in images and video Forum at: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistapictures/threads where the people who specialize in issues of the image will be more than happy to help you with your quesitons.

    Good luck!

    How to transfer files from one user to another under Vista?

    A simple way is to move the file to the Public folder.
    Public folder is accessible by all users.

    How...
    Right click on the file > click Move To > navigate to the Public folder > click on move.

    If you do not Move To option in your right click context Menu, here is the tutorial...

  • Copy some files from one user to another

    Hello!

    How can I copy (not share) some files from one user to another?

    The reason for this is because we rename users to other allocation model.

    Thank you!

    You must share the folders you want to transfer the ownership of the new username, or one responsibility that the new user has (I guess that's an Oracle Applications EUL). The user connects to Discoverer more with their new name. They open the workbook (s) and then do a SAVE AS. Who will save the workbook with them as the new owner. You must then sign with the old name of the owner and to delete these old files (after the first backup them) once you are sure that everything works fine. Yes, it is a nasty process. What we do is we use a "dummy" username when we create/modify the workbooks. In this way the fictional user name is the owner of the workbooks. So, it does not matter if a person leaves or if you change the user naming conventions. If you have many users to create cabinets, then a dummy user name doesn't quite work. You could always submit an enhancement request to Oracle for a copy function. I hope that you will get a lot of customers to support such a request.

    I can't move files from one folder to another in windows Vista.
    It is quite frustrating.

    It is said: Destination folder access denied. You need permission to perform this action. Then the buttons 'Try Again' and 'Cancel '.
    Help, please!
