How to create a password for my user account?

Original title: password at startup of Windows 7 Home Premium

Is there a way to create a password to start my computer?  I have Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have not done this when I first bought my computer and I would like to have because my now my 7 YO son is to get up very early and get the computer without our permission.

If this is done, you have any other suggestions other that disconnect all computers in our House and hide the?

Thank you.

You can set a password for your administrator accounts, you can set a password for your own user account to the daily & you can also a password for the user account of your son.  The link shows how you and advises you to create two administrator accounts to ensure you don't get never accidentally locked on the PC.

I put a password on my other account username, but for some reason that I can't put a password on my account. It does not have this option. I can't understand. any ideas?

Your picture tells me that two action points are missing on your computer: change and remove the password. Why is it I don't know. I suggest that you force your way through using the administrator how to do things:

1 log in under an administrator account.
    2. click on the start planet.
    3. type cmd.exe in the search box.
    4. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    5. click on "run as Administrator".
    6. type the following command and press ENTER:
    NET user guest1 123456
(to set the password to 123456)

  • Remove or disable the protection password for the user account

I have two accounts on my computer to my name. One is an administrator account. The other is a local account. I use the local one for all my general purpose computer. The administrator of one I use only to make changes. I created a password for what I believed to be the administrator account. Actually, I created a password for my local account. Now, I have to sign before I can use the computer. I can't find a way to remove or disable the password without deleting my local account. If I delete the account I'll lose everything in the account. We know how if it is possible to delete or disable a password protected account password?

    Hello

Control Panel - Power Options - "require a password on wakeup" - value "need not."
    -Save the changes.

Desktop computer (Windows key + D) - right click on an empty area - customize - lower right Screen Saver.
Uncheck the box - the resume, login screen - APPLY - OK.

  • Password reset disk error - "year error occurred while the wizard attempted to set the password for this user account.

    Hello!

-A bit of background: the desktop PC that I use is Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, with active user accounts total five. I have my own account, and I can access the computer through (or through account from my brother, because I know its password).--

I had this problem recently came where the administrator password (that I know for a long time and never changed) no longer works. So, after some research, I created a reset password on a USB disk, that I found in my house. I managed to create the disc, but when I tried to put the new password, I got the message error "an error occurred while the wizard attempted to set the password for this user account', which I must say is not very clear. I found a few methods of force - reset the password for the account of the admin, as using a sort of Windows Vista DVD or go to Safe Mode to find the hidden administrator account... but I have no idea what this DVD is or where to find, and in Safe Mode, there is no account user administrator to be seen. I believe that my machine is corrupted, but I don't want to buy a new. I want just to reset a password...

Any help is appreciated. If I was not specific enough, I can specify in comments.

    Thank you!

    Hello

You must make a password reset disk before that there are problems with a password, not afterwards.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

  • How to create a shortcut for all users during installation

    Hi people,

We have a desktop application that is distributed with Java Webstart and works on Win7 machines. Initially, users all connected using a connection by default, so creating shortcuts was not a problem. Now, because of new networking strategies, each user has his own connection.

The problem is that the shortcut to the application is created in the user profile (for example "C:\Users\JohnDoe\", so that other users in the same machine can not run the application unless he or she installs the application again.)

Is there a way to create this shortcut for all users using JNLP API or configuration in the xml file?

If anyone has need of the solution: during installation I save the jnlp file in a directory accessible to all the world and then start the application using "javaws path\to\file.jnlp". Hello

Find this in your login page:

    session_register ("MM_Username");

and then you add a session variable in MX called it:

    MM_Username

then on any of your pages that calls the base to make sure that you use the = MM_Username and then you're all set; Make sure that the tables have a field to reference the session MM_Username variable.

  • I can't create a password for my Windows account.

I can't put a password for my administrator account. Whenever I try, I get a message saying that Windows cannot change the password.
I can set passwords on other accounts, just not this one.
    All the answers?

    Hi SilentEngima,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

You can try to create another administrator account and then you can keep the new account and delete the old one (be sure to copy the necessary files in system folders is first!), or you can use the new account to set the password for the old account (e.g. from the control panel-> user accounts).

Let us know if this helps you or if assistance is needed.
