How to determine my Internet in Mbps speed? I have Windows XP Home Edition, SP3.

The real soon I'll have to buy - against the lease - access a modem cable for television and the Internet.  According to Comcast (provider) to use a modem Motorola SURFboard SB 6121 USB version 3.0, I should have 16 Mbit/s Internet speed.  At that time, the SB6121 is modem of choice.  But they do not have furmish tips on how to determine the speed. Any related help will be appreciated.

I would like to thank all those who have sent information.  This is very helpful! Now I understand the speed of the Internet that some better I did previously.  A big thank you to all!

I need more info on how your network is configured to answer the question on the other.  How is the computer connected to the internet?  It connects wireless or cable to the router or modem or through ICS from another computer or what?  How do you change between the sharing of internet connection currently?  What happens when you try to enable both connections at the same time (or do not have two connections)?

Thank you.  The answers above, I can be able to understand the problem, because right now I really don't know how you setup and I need as much information as you can provide about it.

  • How to save with pre-installed Windows XP Home edition SP3 but no install disc?

I want to save data files on desktop with preinstalled Windows XP Home Edition SP3.  I don't have access to an installation disc.   How can I get a?

You don't need a Windows installation CD in order to backup data files.  What makes you think do you?

[The light bulb turns]: you're probably trying to install NTBackup.  My advice to you is to forget NTBackup and get a disk imaging or cloning application.  I propose the following actions:

    Acronis True Image Home
    Paragon backup and recovery home
    Casper 6.0
Norton Ghost (used to be the standard for imaging applications, but I haven't used recent editions; if you really want to use a Symantec product, read the reviews on Amazon)

If you really want to use NTBackup (worth what you pay for it), see http://www.ihatedroz.com/windows-backup-utility-without-cd

  • How can I determine why my netbook won't start in Windows XP Home Edition?

I have a netbook Acer Aspire One A0751h multiboot, which recently stopped starting in Windows XP Home (SP3).

I have NOT a CD Windows XP Home OEM (because the netbook does not comes with one).  I can boot from an external USB CD/DVD drive, but this does not help me much because I do not have a Windows XP Home OEM CD.

My boot (GRUB) menu allows me to start in:

    • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (which would be defective, even in safe mode - it crashes after loading the driver for agpCPQ.sys)
    • Windows Vista (loader) (Acer recovery Partition)
    • Ubuntu 11.04 (various kernels - currently 2.6.38 - 11-generic (Natty Narwhal))

If I try to start Windows XP, it hangs up the PC (even in safe mode).

If I boot on the Acer Recovery Partition, I have the options to wipe my system back to factory settings, or move my user data to c:\backup and reinstall Windows (or what is desirable from a distance).

If I boot to Ubuntu, I can mount the Windows Partition to/media/ACER in two clicks.

    How do I:

    1. find out why Windows crashes and won't boot (can't connect to the faulty startup? I tried boot logging and impossible to find a newspaper)?
    2. Difficulty of Windows (I've already scanned the drive under Linux to find errors, and he comes clean)?

If I have to, I can back up my content from the boot drive in Ubuntu, but I tell myself that I should be able to fix my Ubuntu system just as easily (SHOULD be the keyword).  Remember, I can access all the files on my computer from Ubuntu.

    Help!

EDIT: Note that I JUST found that I can boot from a Windows XP Professional OEM CD and enter a recovery console.  Not that this helps me a lot, I can handle files of Ubuntu.

  • I have Windows XP Home Edition. How can I find out what model of motherboard, I have installed in my computer?

I have Windows XP Home in my computer, but I want to buy a DVD - RW to burn music. Before buy you, I need to know if it is compatible with my motherboard, but I have no idea how to collect information on the motherboard on my computer. Any help?

    Hello

Assuming that you have a desktop computer, the easiest is to take the side off the pc and read the inscriptions on the motherboard.

If you have a laptop then the way the easiest, if they publish, is to go to the manufacturer's Web site or your manual could tell you.

All this is probably irrelevant because in 10 years of PC building I've never met an internal optical drive which was not compatible. External references could be something else, but as I met usb drives that prevent the start PC, the solution would be to plug in usb after booting.

What you need to consider if you want to burn music is the burning program. Most optical retail drives come with a "light version" of the burning software. For best results you should consider a comprehensive program of recommended.

  • How can I get my number and product key for windows xp home edition 2? ___

my mother-in-law is trying to reinstall windows xp home edition 2, but does not have its product number or key... How can I find out who it is?

    Thank you very much!

What brand is the PC?  Most system builders put the key on the side of the Machine.  If it's a laptop, it should be on the bottom of the laptop.

It is all the information that we will be able to give you.  If you are unable to find the key, then you will need to purchase a new license.

  • How to uninstall Windows XP Home Edition SP3?

    Specifications:

Sony VAIO, XP Home Edition SP3 computer - if any other information is needed, please let me know.

    --------

The main problem is that after the update via Windows Update from SP2 to SP3 has caused the USB ports to stop working. I tried everything that is listed on this Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950249, contacting Sony, System Restore (for some reason, I did not define a restore point before installing SP3!), unplug the computer for a few hours (which works for about 10 seconds after putting a flash drive into a USB port, but then the USB port stops working) , research in the folder where the update is supposed to be in (but he's not here), looking in Add/Remove Programs, remove registry, searched files via Google answers, etc., etc.

Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You do not use / have you used "Registry cleaners" (e.g., Registry Mechanic;) Registry Booster; CCleaner)?

The above, if WinXP SP3 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs, the only way you can remove it would be formatting your HARD drive and do a clean install of Windows XP.
