Hello

1. If you have Windows 7 Professional or ultimate edition, open the Group Policy Editor and navigate to the following policy.

Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local political / Security Options.

In the right pane, double-click the policy:

Interactive logon: do not display last user name - change to "Enabled".

2. If you have the Home Premium version, you can set this policy using the registry.

* Make sure that you back up the key before making changes

Open Regedit and navigate to the following location.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem\\\

In the right pane, locate the dontdisplaylastusername value. Double-click this value and change the value to 1 data. Click OK.

If this value is not present, right-click and select new/DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the dontdisplaylastusername (respect for case-sensitive) value, and then make the above change.

  • disable the automatic driver install windows 7 Home premium

I have a problem installing my dell AIO 922 printer. It is said that I should avoid windows install the drivers.

Like the windows version family premium is not a policy editor group that I need to know what to change in the registry to prevent the installation of the drivers when I connect my USB printer so I can let the driver installation program with dell windows do its work.

Anyone know how to disable the automatic installation of the driver without the Group Policy Editor?

    Thank you

    Hello, Willem.

Make a test with the steps below:

-Click Start (lower left corner of the desktop)
-Right click on "computer" and select Properties.
-On the left side, just below the tasks, select "Device Manager".
-Locate your device, right click and select Properties.
-Select the tab 'pilot' and click on uninstall.
-Click ok and restart the computer.

If this isn't the case, the only workaround for this problem is to install the latest driver on the manufacturer's Web site to overwrite the current driver.

    Kind regards

  • KB2296011 causes the blank screen in Windows Vista Home Premium?

I'm troubleshooting an issue with an installation of Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop. After Tuesday October 12 updates, the laptop goes to a blue screen after authentication with any account. There is a mobile cursor mouse, but nothing else. C/a. gives the menu, but "Start Task Manager" has no effect, restart will only work.

I am able to login normally mode without failure. Remove the update KB2296011 removes the problem, I narrowed down it to only this update. It is now necessary to restart and use system restore to go back before this particular update to access Windows.

I did the following to troubleshoot:

    (1) I tried to install the system update tool, which had no effect.

    (2) I tried to install the KB2296011 update manually after downloading, the problem returns after installing.

    (3) I tried to install the KB2296011 update manually mode without failure by another post here, but this is not possible, which gives the following error: "Windows Update Standalone Installer: Installer encountered an error: 0x8007043c.»  This service cannot be started in Mode safe. »

It seems up to present have no way to obtain this update to install without the origin of the white screen issue. Please advice, thank you.

OK, it looks like at this will be my last post.

This technician seems to address the issue much differently from the rest. After the things we have done in my previous post, he seems convinced that the problem occurs when this security update is installed, it thinks it's UAC which is damaged, and possibly other files. If its resolution suggested the problem is to run a repair on Vista installation, in order to repair potentially damaged or corrupted files. This would correspond well with hijackware theory posted earlier, too.

It seems door by another symptom not reported to me or noticed until now. With or without UAC enabled, standard users cannot connect. It passes the connection, in the preparation of your office for a disconnection. Administrative users can connect very well. As the primary user of the machine is an administrator (of course!), this was not noticed until I created a Standard user to test and found this problem.

I hope than a repair installation (or even better, an upgrade, as I prefer to simply wipe the HD and start over) will solve the problem. The machine has 2 GB of RAM and a 2 GHz dual core chip, so I think it can handle very well (my wife does mobile) Win7.

I hope that all of this novel, we have written here will help others as well.

  • How can I get an on-screen keyboard appears automatically in the login screen of Windows 7 Home Premium?

I built my computer as a HTPC, so there is no physical keyboard.  The only physical input device is a wireless mouse that I use to click on the password when connecting.  However, to access the on-screen keyboard to enter the password, I have to click on the icon of accessibility at the bottom left, and then check the keyboard and then click OK.  Is it possible to have the onscreen keyboard displayed automatically or at least didn't have only a click of the mouse away as in the following image: http://george.insideiphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Viliv-X70-EX1.jpg.

I found the solution I was looking for, and he generates exactly the keyboard as in the screenshot I provided above.

I downloaded the latest driver for Wacom Bamboo tablet and installed on my computer.  I have no tablet so I was afraid that the driver installation would fail but he completed without incident.  A check of the watch workstation settings entry Pen and Touch is now available.  I then rebooted and when the login screen appeared, I clicked on the my account button that produced not only the expected password entry field, but also an icon at the bottom left to the on screen keyboard.  Clicking on it causes a keyboard integrated in the context in which appear.  It is not as large as the on-screen keyboard in Windows 7 I used initially and certainly not as big as in the screenshot (I'm looking at a 1920 by 1080 screen) but it's good enough.
