  (e) if the service is not already running, under Service status, click Startand then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  Thank you very much for your answers.  If you don't have administrative rights, then you will need to get them.  It may be possible to solve the problem with the drivers that are currently listed, but this problem can be caused by the initial install the disc. I would try the steps below to see if that solves the problem.

  Note: administrative rights must be obtained *.

  1. completely uninstall the device from programs and features

  2. make sure that all instances of the deleted software (programs, Device Manager, etc.).

  3. download and save the correct software

  4 reinstall the unit DOWNLOAD

  It is not possible. You can get an iPad app on the App Store that will allow the iPad to scan documents.

  Running Windows 8 64-bit on a Dell XPS8500.
  I recently bought a MX922 printer and the failure of repeated attempts to install the driver.  It's a multifunction and the drivers for the scanner and FAX install normally.  I use an installer from the website of Canon which is fairly recent, last updated while I was struggling with this problem.  Also, the latest version of the driver install program fails.

  I finally just connected the printer to the PC after unintalling all canon software. (and the always popular re-boot)
  Still no printer, but device manager reported an unknown device.
  I installed "manually" a driver for this device via the Device Manager and it reported two driver options.
  When I tried to install the series MX920 printer driver, it failed but gave me the mysterious following explanation:
  "the printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers.
  I found a few references to this problem with Windows Vista, but nothing for Windows 8.
  Does anyone know if or how I can change my PC on NT 4.0 policy drivers or know another workaround solution?

  Using the "Add a device" option in the "Devices and printers" window with the driver uninstalled Canon and my USB disconnected cable resulted in a supported driver installation wireless connection.

  The printer error showed that it would not print because another sytem is connected to the printer. Not true! but restart the printer and the laptop several times always gave the same error message. Decided to reinstall the driver software forgetting that I had moved from Windows Vista to Windows 10 since last resettling.  Driver disk (C4700 series) shows the Setup screen with the invitation to press the button install... but the only button on the screen is the exit button. Not useful and not take me further. "Go to the file menu and using setup.exe goes up to a pop up saying sreen" HP Solutions Framework Support - 12.0.30.473.exe'... Save the file? or cancel? Save file button causes a coil between "Connection to the local host" / "Looking up local host", which ultimately goes nowhere. The same thing happens if I try to download the software directly from HP Support System. Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong or what is happening. Get a new printer is an accepted solution!
