  Hi, I read the other posts on this topic, but my problem seems a little different.

  I am running Windows 7 on a Dell desktop computer and I tried to run chkdsk and also the Dell diagnostics that I have some problems hard drive; However, it gets so far and the pc goes into mode 'sleep' causing me even worse problems that chkdsk/diagnoses are halfway through a volume. The pc has done this on and off tension for awhile, but hopefully not when something critical is running, even if it is a nuisance.  I did all the steps recommended here as ensure my Power Options are set, etc., but he always does.

  In addition, when the pc goes to sleep, I can't wake him up by pressing the power button or any key on the keyboard.

  I've been in contact with Dell and they said that it's a software problem.

  Someone can suggest something else I can do (stop) the computer mode 'sleep' and also how to wake him.

  As you mentioned in your previous post, you wanted to know how to boot from the disc, I've provided the steps how to boot from the disc on my previous post. However, you can try to repair your windows using DVD for Windows 7 backup and check.

  Thank you!  I thought about it.  It is possible.  It's a document that I bought at TeachersPayTeachers.  The creator allowed to edit, but I don't have the original document to change, just the PDF file.  For reference, I clicked on DISPLAY in the main menu.

  Then I clicked on SHOW/HIDE.  Then COMPONENTS toolbar.  Last, I clicked on VIEW the PROPERTIES BAR.  Thank you very much for the help.  I hope this helps others.

  Right-click on the PDF file, select open with-> choose default program, select Acrobat XI & confirm the changes.

  If scan you it in form of picture, just HotSync on Palm Desktop usage and the Media button in the left column.

  If your scanner can do "OCR" (optical character recognition), you can scan it as a Word document, and then use the for Docs2Go transfer.

  Here is a link to 'how to scan' documents on hp.com.

  Choose your operating system, or scan from the printer.  Since the 6520 is not a duplexor, you'll need to turn the page on the scanner to scan the back side.  If you want a copy two sides, then put the printed pages in the paper tray with the face upwards.  If you are scanning in format pdf, then the screen will ask you if you send several pages and will be waiting to deliver the document to scan the back side.

  I see that you wonder if you need to replace the color cartridge when it is low. This printer is a printer AIO, therefore, you need to replace the ink cartridge when it becomes too weak to be able to resume printing. However, if you print mostly in black, you can configure a preset black only to print in black and white. This would help reduce the use of the color cartridges.

  NOTE: Composite black - for black and white images and photos, a mix of colors called 'composite black' can be used to achieve the quality significantly improved picture and soft gray tones that can be achieved with only black toner. For users who want to print images using just black toner, many HP printers color customer offer configurable options allowing the client to print using only black toner. For example, by selecting "print in grayscale" in the printer driver Specifies print using black ink only.   Check and make sure that the Windows service install is running on the computer.

  (a) click on start to reduce this includes this image, click run , type services.msc , and then press enter to open Services.

  (b) right click on the Windows Installer service and then click Properties.

  (c) if the box Startup type is set to Disabled, change it to Manual.

  (d) click on OK to close the Properties window.

  (e) right click on the Windows Installer service and then click Start. The service should start without errors.

  (f) click on the file menu, and then click exit.
