  You could try to copy on your desktop using the command line.  If it appears (as it should display with the settings you have selected in your original), you can then use the folder of fonts installation command.   If you hover the mouse over one by one, you will get a popup providing details of what they are.  You can also use the loupe tool located under all programs-> Accessories-> ease of access.  I don't know how just enlarge that part of the taskbar without affecting the entire screen.

  Thank you, Matthew, but I fear that we have still not solved the problem of Thunderbird.
  Mistral is a TrueType font and was readily available in all editions of Thunderbird before the current version: 38.0.1.
  Of course the technicians who designed this update have changed something in the program so that TrueType fonts are no longer available. I need to use the Mistral. Parameters of the italics and the other options available in Thunderbird 38.0.1 are not acceptable.
