How to fix: media in the CD/DVD drive is not readable (TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS - H493B SCSI CdRom Device)

I am trying to connect a wireless printer, however, my PC does not recognize that there is the CD or installer for drivers etc. in the CD slot! It does not recognize anything in the slot! What to do!

This kind of problem DVD can have several causes.  However, in 99% of cases that I ran into that, the problem is quickly, completely, cheaply and easily treated by simply installing a new drive.

    Hello

Well you have studied the issues pretty well. Could be material.

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

    A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

CD have a tolerance + - and your must read on the edge outside these tolerances of discs.
They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    Hi sergeblache,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing problems to use the DVD drive to read and write disks, we try these steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Given that you've tried the Fixit and relocation of the reader, you can read the article and try manual steps to change the upper and lower filters in the registry settings. Check if this may help:

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Important: The article mentioned above shows you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information, see the article:

    Back up the registry

    Method 2:

If you have installed a third-party DVD burning software, then Uninstall the same and look for the question.

If you need further assistance, please answer and we will be happy to help you.

If you are unable to change the boot order in the BIOS, I would advise you by pressing the F12 key immediately after starting the laptop.
A start menu should appear, then you should be able to choose the reader of CD/DVD (ODD).

You can also try clicking on the C instead of the F12 button. The C button the STRANGE start.
