How to force boot from the CDROM on Satellite M40 183

I have error in the MBR on the drive in my laptop, it doesent from disk, before I had put into hibernation system (Windows XP).

Now, I can't force boot from the CDROM
in the bios, CDROM is selected as first boot-> nothing
on bootking, I am pressing end F12 choose CDROM icons-> notking
on bootking by pressing 'c'-> notking

and I have a problem:
-system does not boot
-recovery disk will not start, and I can't fix it :/

I'm sure that the cd drive is right.

I recognized before, makes this hibernation, it is imposible to boot from the cdrom

but there must be a way to force anyway.

Thanks for any help.

Mateusz

Hello Mateusz

The hibernation mode cannot be responsible for this kind of question. I'm sure that this option is properly put to the test and if there is some sort of suspicion it won't be available more.
If you have any problem with MBR, it can also be damaged by some kind of virus. As far as I know that the easiest way to repair or rebuild MBR is to run the standard Microsoft called FDISK utility with a parameter/MBR, as
A:\ > FDISK. EXE/MBR
FDISK is a standard utility included in MS-DOS, Windows 95, 98, me.

    Hello

You are not able to boot from the CD/DVD drive?
If you are unable to change the boot order in the BIOS, I would advise you by pressing the F12 key immediately after starting the laptop.
A start menu should appear, then you should be able to choose the reader of CD/DVD (ODD).

You can also try clicking on the C instead of the F12 button. The C button the STRANGE start.

    Check this back and forth!

  • How can I boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD so that I can reformat the hard drive before reinstalling Windows 7?

How can I boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD so that I can reformat the hard drive before reinstalling Windows 7?  I have already reinstalled Windows 7 from the CD, but that has not solved my problems.  When I put the factory CD in my CD player, it won't always boot from the CD.  When I put my Windows 7 Ultimate CD in the CD drive, it doesn't always start from the CD.         I realize that the reformatting is not always necessary, but I caught a few viruses (despite anti-virus running) and I need to start with a clean hard drive.

You must go into the BIOS and change the boot on CD order
    first push.

How to get into your BIOS? It is not dependent on Windows, but on what he
motherboard/BIOS card that you have. In fact, you need access to the
BIOS before Windows begins to start. A common method is to press
the key delete when you turn on first, but this is not necessarily true
    for your computer. Watch the display carefully when you start first;
There is often a message here to tell you what to do. If this is not the case, check
your system documentation or check with your provider.

Just got a brand-new 4235 ID device but there 2.2.5.1 on it. I have the

3.0 (1) S4 upgrade CD. But how do you repair the unit to boot from it? I have a pc keyboard and monitor directly connected to the probe. Do I have to change the boot settings in the configuration utility? What keys used to emulate a 'Stop' + 'A' a Sun keyboard?

    Any help would be appreciated.

You are right on 4230 devices. They carried before we changed our method of installation/restoration and are not configured to boot from the default CD-ROM drive. I don't remember when change rolled in the production of 4210, but all * currently * navigation devices are configured with the correct boot order by default.

The instructions for the upgrade/recovery of sensors using the reference of the CD (version 2.5 and later) checking the boot order in the BIOS, but do not go into the details of how change it.

    For SNS and IDS-4220/4230 platforms:

    1. enter in the BIOS by pressing F2 during boot of the system (at the prompt).

    2. go to the "Start" menu and select "Boot Device Priority"

3 select a boot device and use '+' or '-' to move the unit upwards or downwards in the list until the boot order is correct (removable devices > ATAPI CD-ROM > hard).

    4. press to exit the Boot Device Priority menu.

    5. go to the menu "Exit", then select "Exit Saving Changes".

    For the IDS 4210:

    1. enter in the BIOS by pressing F2 during boot of the system (at the prompt).

    2. go in the menu 'Boot.

    3. Select a boot device (1st, 2nd, etc.), then press.

    4. Select the appropriate device in the list (diskette, CDROM ATAPI or IDE-HDD) and press again.

    5. check the changes match the following:

    1st boot Device: [disk]

    Hello

Try to use all possible methods to set ODD as first boot device:
    1. press the key C immediately after switching on the unit, keep it down for a few seconds
    2 put in the BIOS
    3. choose F12 after departure upward and choose the CD/DVD device

Honestly, it's very strange and if nothing helps, maybe you should contact your dealer or authorized Toshiba service partner directly. They check the disc.

BTW: have you noticed any other problems with ODD Windows?

    Hello

Sometimes, as you have discovered, installing Windows 7 from a DVD can be a little difficult for various reasons. If you were able to boot from the Windows 7 DVD, then you did what you had to do.

I highly recommend to use a support USB thumbdrive for fast and reliable Windows 7 installation. You will need a USB thumbdrive, which is 4 GB.

You will need to create it with Microsoft on another PC that is running Windows 7 or 8 utiity. Download and run tool Windows 7 USB DVD Download from the Microsoft store.

The download link and instructions is on the web page in the previous link. You will need your Microsoft Windows 7 DVD and license key (during the installation process of Windows 7).

    Best regards

  • VM starts not directly from the CDROM drive ESXi host

Hello. I was looking for a long time another discussion for people who have had the same problem, I found it but the answers that the candidates are not useful for me. I explain my problem giving you as much information as I can.

I have created a virtual machine in order to intall inside Windows Server 2K 3. The problem is that I can't make the start of the VM from the CD I put in the ESXi host CDROM drive. I installed ESXi 3.5 U4. For the virtual CD/DVD Drive 1 (only in the virtual machine), I chose "Host device" as the device Type.  The only option, it's for me inside this option is ' / vmfs/devices/genide / vmhba0:0:0.» The message I get in the console view is "Not found operating system"

Storage adapters I in the ESXi host are: LSI1068E - & gt; vmhba2 where I see my RAID1 disk1. The other device is ICH10 4 port SATA IDE Controller - & gt; vmhba0 where I see the physical CDROM Drive.  I also have another device that is "USB Storage Controller" - & gt; vmhba32 where I also see the CDROM (but when I create the virtual machine does not allow me to choose this controller, vmhba32:0:0). This controller is a "SCSI" where alumni are "Block SCSI".

I have also checked the box "connect to power on" in the settings of VM window. The CD booteable because unless I restart the ESXi host and I do boot from the CDROM it loads the Windows Setup program. Thus, the CD is OK and the CD-ROM drive is also OK.

I don't know what to do and what to test. If I choose to boot the client machine, the virtual machine option starts ok. The problem is that I need to transfer all the contents of the CD by the network and right now I am using an ADSL connection.

The server I have is IBM System x 3650 M2, which is compatible with ESXi 3.5 U4.

I know I have another option is to boot from and ISO image. Here, I have a few questions. First of all, how to download the ISO to the ESXi host image? Do I have to use the RCLI? Secondly, I want to make sure that only a problem of booting from the CDROM or the problem is maybe the ESXi of CDROM drive is not recognized by ESXi, so I'll never be able to use it.

    Advanced averybody thanks.

The discussion has been moved to the VI: forum ESXi 3.5.  It seems to be the case, but could check you that ESXi is load the IDE driver for the ICH10 controller?  This mode is the controller of the value in the BIOS?

  • How can I get WIndows8 TouchSmart to boot from the recovery disc

How can I get WIndows8 TouchSmart to boot from the recovery disc? With the recovery in the drive disk when I do a reboot or stop and start it does not read anything from the DVD player. My computer is a HP TouchSmart 23-D160QD.

    @AirForce9731,

You may need to change the boot order to boot from the DVD drive first.  The steps to do this are in the document below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00364979

These are recovery disks made by the recovery discs sent by HP?  They will not work in a different system (you will receive an error message), but you are able to get the boot floppies in a different system?  They should be able to start up to a point where the error message will be displayed.

  • XPS 12 / Win 8: how to boot from the recovery partition / reinstall Windows?

Messed up things on a newly purchased 12 XPS in Windows 8, and I want to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall windows.

Support online pages point by pressing F8 during startup, but this does not at all.

How can I access the recovery partition?

To access to the menu of, , press F2.

To enter the boot options menu, press F12.

Because the XPS 12 boots so fast, it is better to repeatedly press F2 or F12 after restarting the machine. During the startup process, texts for options should appear at the bottom right of the screen. If you enter Windows, you will need to restart again and press F2 or F12 until it works. However, I don't think there is an option in the BIOS to restore the computer to its factory condition. The previous post by DELL-VIKRAM M describes how to properly restore the machine to its factory state.

  • How can I configure my computer to boot from the CD Rom drive

I have Windows 7 home version and I have a problem with booting from the cd rom.  I did a cd bootable for a work at home job, but it will not work properly.  It works fine on the desktop of my sister, but not my laptop.  What is happening is the CD loads when I restart my computer, but then it goes to a black screen and just stays there until I have eject the CD.  I can hear the CD running, but I get nothing after the initial splash screen.  I have reset the bios to make sure that the CD-Rom was placed up in the boot parameters.  Any ideas why this CD will not completely loaded?  Thanks for any help you can give.

    Gayle

Please note, in order to install Windows 7, you must have a DVD player, if you have a CD-ROM drive, which will not work.
