  • Is it possible to do full screen Windows Media Center (native) on a monitor while being able to use the other monitors in a multi-screen configuration?

Personally, I have a dual monitor situation, and sometimes I would watch television on an all always doing work on the other. If I maximize the Media Center window it will display full-screen on one monitor but it disables all features on the other. The only way for everyone is stretching as it can on the monitor/display without infringing the workspace of the other monitor, but it is ineffective because it does not display the full screen to a native resolution.

If there is not a current solution for this, then it must be addressed by the engineers of Windows like watch TV on the computer, and multi-monitor configurations are becoming increasingly important in the houses.
I appreciate the help. Thank you!
    Another Windows user

After you start your support, press alt + tab to exit the Media Center window. Media Center will stay full screen play the media, and you can use the main screen as usual.

This works better if Media Center is on the second screen without the taskbar.

    Betty kick

    Hi kicking Betty,

I see that when you play a video in Windows Media Player mode full-screen, the application crashes. I'll help you with this problem.

1 - which requires that you have used to make the video file?

    2. What if this problem occurs with all the video files?

3 security software - which is installed on the computer?

I suggest you try to disable or turn off hardware acceleration in Windows Media Player and check.

    1. Open Media Player.

2 - Click now playing, and then More Options.

3- click on the tab performance.

Uncheck the box 4- Activate DirectX acceleration.

5-click ok and close. Once this is close and re-open Windows Media Player.

  • How can I fix my Windows Media Center

My Windows Media center to disappear from my computer I already looked everywhere in all programs and windows and nothing features on or off. my computer came with this program, but suddenly its gone I have not now how to get it back. I know that I have not uninstalled it.

    Hi Oscarlo2,

Same thing happened to me. It could be as simple as another media player, be affected as your default player. My OS is Windows Vista, so I had to go through the following steps:
Control Panel > programs > by default of the programs > set your default programs
Windows Media Center should always be which are listed there. Once you is like Media Player by default, it should appear immediately.
I know that this has been posted a year ago, but if still you have your Media Center, I hope this helps.
  • How to read subtitles in Windows Media Center?

Hello! I bought a CD of movie and downloaded subtitles ".srt" for this movie. These subtitles ".srt" run in VLC media player by keeping just the video and the '.srt' in the same folder and two identical file names. But when I play the movie in Windows Media Center, the subtitles do not appear. How do I make them work?

    Hey Mary!
I'm sorry but I don't have the subtitles that are already there in the DVD. As I said, there are no subtitles in the DVD. There was just a .avi file. In VLC Media Player (that I currently use as my primary movie player), simply paste. SRT file in the same folder and check the file of the same name. VLC media player automatically detects and manages the subtitles with video. This technique works for all video formats that work with VLC Media player, includin, .mp4, .m4v, .mkv, .wmv, .avi, etc..

Is that we can run these subtitles .srt (sometimes .sub) with Windows Media Center?

You can, but you must tell the codec to load the subtitles.  I am assuming that you are using ffdshow, in video settings, there is a setting to enable and disable the subtitles, it is a function of the video decoder not the player, VLC comes just at a time.

  • Windows 7. How can I remove the Windows media Center programs recommended in the "Open with" section?

I select which application (Word, Excel, etc.), they all open with Windows Media Center. This happened recently and I don't know how to cancel it. I see the Windows Media Center in the 'Open with' box where it asks you to "choose the program you want to use to open this file. How I remove it from the section "recommended programs"? I see that Internet Explorer is also in this section. What should be there as well? What actually belongs to this group?

"I see the Windows Media Center in the 'Open with' box where it asks you to"choose the program you want to use to open this file"." How I remove it from the section "recommended programs"? »

A pretty easy regedit should remove an application from the section "recommended programs". Here is a procedure step by step on how to do it. Unfortunately, I don't think that will solve your problem. What seems actually to have occurred is either your .lnk .exe (or maybe both) have inadvertently been associated with WMC. Out of the list of the programs recommended for the open with dialog box will not change. In fact, the next time that you open the program, it will open in WMC and add automatically return a program recommended in the open with dialog box.

There really should not be whatever it is that you open a .lnk or .exe with because you really don't want to open them... you want to run. To determine if the .lnk or .exe associated with wrong, you can either watch the extension file associations in the control panel > programs, or you can see if it's a shortcut or the actual executable file that does. Need to know who, or if she is at the same time, in order to complete the fix.

Once you know it, this link will show you how to restore the default file type link. Matter of fact, now that I think of it, it wouldn't hurt to just restore default settings for .lnk and .exe.

"I see that Internet Explorer is also in this section. What should be there as well? What actually belongs to this group? " I may be wrong, but I do not believe, you should really see anything in the open with dialog for a .lnk or .exe. Again, you don't want to really not open them... you want to run. The shortcut .lnk file goes to the executable and runs the .exe program.
