How to get xp instead of vista on a Satellite U400-10W?

Hello

Just got a new 10W U400, it came with vista already installed home. I need to use XP as my operating system.

I found a long list of drivers on the Toshiba site. I'm not succeeded uncompressing one of them. Must I open those for XP or Vista?

The setup.exe for the toshiba utilities file, my computer will not allow it. Any ideas?

Thank you very much.

You can use programs 3rd pack part as another even better, which is also free, 7 - Zip or Winrar.
Is - this installer for Vista or XP?

Make sure that you have downloaded the right version for the operating system you are using.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Slow start on Vista Home Premium - Satellite U400-15B
    Hello
    I just bought Satellite U400-15B and am finding it takes very long to start Vista, I went into msconfig and disabled the things I don't use and stuff that I think is not necessary, but it is still having to wait ages before that I can use the laptop. I have enough RAM and processor speed, so I don't think that the specifications of the laptop are a problem
    Is there something that can be done on this slow start, any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Hello
    I think slow start or laptop slow operations depend on good configuration of the OS. I played with this last month and I am now convinced that Vista starts and runs on my laptop.
  • How to get the Installation of Vista from Toshiba disk?
    I work with Microsoft technical support to solve a security problem on my Satellite Pro A210 and were now required to use a Vista installation disc.
    Microsoft says that I am entitled to an installation of the original provider of my kit disc - Toshiba. But we're not happened with my laptop - only a recovery disc has been provided.
    How can I go on the acquisition of an installation of Vista from Toshiba disk?
    Kind regards
    Kevin C.
    With Toshiba laptop, you'll get the Toshiba CD/DVD facilities only.
    This recovery media is designed for your laptop only.
    Installations from Microsoft Vista disc is not given and there is no way to get it from Toshiba.
    Microsoft can offer that you support if you only use Microsoft installations CD. Using this disk, you can install and repair Vista on each portable office/computer option. Unfortunately with the restore disc it will not work.
    Hello world!
    I would like to know what kind of license WINDOWS of this machine.
    Is it possible to know, using the serial number of machine?
    I appreciate the response.
    Kind regards!
    (Sorry for my English, I'm not sure of what I wrote, I'm Spanish)
    When you buy the laptop with OS preinstalled, it is activated and prices for laptop includes a valid license for the Windows operating system. Is this product key that you get with your machine belongs to the preinstalled recovery image, and it is useless for you.
    Maybe you can find a tool that can be read, but you can't do anything with it.
    With other words, it's just a useless number.
    Is it possible to get a new key and replace it myself? I know that some other laptop producers do the same thing,
    I don't get to see the BIOS updated screen other cases other than the time I did the BIOS update.
    Hello
    To be honest I don't understand exactly what your problem is.
    You said:. Now, I noticed that the screen blanks a few times at PC startup.
    Does that mean exactly? Is your black screen until Windows has started?
    To be honest, I put t think the BIOS update would be the reason for which go into the BIOS (press F2) and set the default BIOS settings (F9) and save the changes (F10).
    If you want to recover the BIOS version earlier, then you will need Flash module ROM BIOS using a basic BIOS version BACK. You will find on the European driver Toshiba page only the win versions
  • Re: Qosmio X 300 - how to get 64 bit Vista OS?
    Hello
    I bought this laptop actually yesterday with 4 GB of RAM, and when I installed Vista I expected to be 64-bit to take full advantage of the 4 GB instead of only 3 GB under Vista 32 bit.
    Normally, when you bought the retail Vista 32-bit, you can ask Microsoft to send you also 64 bit DVD as long as you have Vista legal and provide them with enough information they want from you in writing all information to some form of text and send it to them.
    So, how to get the 64-bit version of Home premium without purchase OEM 64-bit version?
    Where did you find this info?
    In my opinion if you want to use the Vista 64 bit OS then you must buy it.
    The Vista which is preinstalled on the Toshiba laptop is an OEM version and I doubt you will get a new OS 64 bit only free only because the 32-bit was preinstalled on your laptop.
