How to increase the maximum size of the disk commissioning

Hello

I wanted to increase the size of the hard drive of one of our virtual machine but the maximum is 256 GB and I can't go any further. Is there a way to increase the maximum, so I can develop?

We use ESXi 5.5 on a single physical server and use vSphare to manage. There are 300 GB of free space in the data store.

can you please help

Hi Caroline and welcome on VMware communities!

It seems that your data store is in the old format VMFS3.  To create virtual disks greater than 256 GB in size, you will need to follow the instructions in upgrading warehouses VMFS3 to VMFS5.  (Further reading: VMware KB: block the size of a VMFS data store limitations.)

See you soon,.
