  I am totally unable to download acrobat reader. I bought a new laptop HP running windows 64 bits 10 and I am unable to get acrobat to load in any version or on any browser. All I get is the "Application initialization error" message and then my browser opens the page to download the same and the cycle starts again. I looked at the help pages, but this "application initialization error" does not seem to exist on the help page search index so I am subject to the forum for help.

  If anyone can help me? I am based in the United Kingdom, and not a geek, so complicated is out of the question. On my HP netbook windows 7 I never had the problem, then why was it this block - it took me seven days to get help to get flash player to work and reboot, restart, and swearing is not the thing for acrobat. Any ideas anyone?

  1. reboot the computer
  2 start typing the F8 key

  The first time I followed your suggestion to select 'Troubleshoot compatibility' I must have done

  something wrong because it did not work.

  I have since tried once more and under "settings - compatible mode" I choose Windows 7.
