How to install Age Of Empires III on a Windows Vista or 7?
I bought Age of Empires III (without extensions, only the original) a few years ago and it worked well on my Windows XP operating system. I now have a Windows Vista computer and another that runs on Windows 7, and AOEIII installs correctly on either. On the Vista computer, I get an error message saying the game has known compatibility issues, but there is no solutions when I click on the button "find solutions online. I choose to install the program even when and installation runs without any problems, but after a few minutes, an error message appears saying that there is an error in opening a specific file and I need to check that the file exists. I click try again, but the message continues to appear every few minutes. I tried many solutions online, including the execution of the program in different modes of compatibility and running it as an administrator. I downloaded a patch for the game, but when I double click on the patch to fix the game, another error message appears saying that there is a problem with my installation. I checked many sources who say the game is fully compatiable on Windows Vista and 7, but of course, it does not work for me.
Hi blakesk8dgk,
· What is the exact error message you get?
Check first if Age of Empire III is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 in Windows 7 or Windows Vista Compatibility Center:
Windows 7 Compatibility Center
Windows Vista Compatibility Center
Step 1:
Take a look at the link to the following article:
Step 2:
If the game is not compatible, then try to install in compatibility mode and check if it helps:
Windows Vista - Make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows
Run Windows 7 - make older programs in this version of Windows
I hope this helps.

Difficulties to install Age of Empires III, help please?
I try to install Age of Empires III on my laptop HP G62 under Windows 7 Home Premium, but it keeps stuck a blob in to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\art\art3.bar
Does anyone else have this problem? How can I solve this problem? I really don't want to have to buy another copy of the game.Thank youTristanThere should be no problem install AOE3 without using the compatibility settings.
Worked for me on Win7 64 bit.If she remains stuck at the same point is could be a disk failure. You can try to copy the contents of the disc to a folder on your desktop and install from there. If the files do not complete the copy on the desktop of the disc is probably wrong.
I do not install all the games in the default location - Program Files (x 86), for several reasons.
I used separate partition or HARD drive, but a new folder in the c: / drive is good enough. Name it what you like. You can install all your games in subfolders within that.Do you have other games that are installed with the specifications of the similar system of the same vintage (2005)? It is possible that the game ends to install if it does not recognize the Intel HD integrated graphics card.

Whenever I try to install Age of Empires III I get error 1305... help!
Whenever I try to install Age of Empires III, I get error 1305 says "error 1305 reading the file. What I'm doing. This game was not cheap I just installed a new game if it's not my drive. I have 400 GB free, so I have all the space in the world. Finally, he worked on my old pc. I need help, and I'm very crazy. Help, please.
Hey AnthonyMac,
Consider the weather there is no scratches on the disc, clean the program CD-ROM or DVD. To do this, use a CD-ROM cleaning kit, or gently wipe the silver part of the CD-ROM with a cotton cloth soft and lint from the center of the round trip of the CD-ROM.
If you still have the difficluties installing this, try to copy from the landfill, which is all the files which are there on the CD and see if you get any errors during the copy. If you have errors to copy from the CD, then the CD is wrong. You can download the installer from the Microsoft Web site:
Use this download for the trail version and use the product key that is on the CD to convert it into a full version.
I hope that it works and would like to hear from you.
Thank you

Hello
I had problems to install this game as well. The error occurred to me was that the program was not installed for all users.I found a solution to:1. go to computer > C: and the option to display hidden items.2. after a hidden folder named ProgramData will appear.3. then you should go ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > StartupMenu > programs.4. When you are in that folder you just create another folder named Microsoft Games.5. inside of this new folder, you create another one named Age of Empires III6. now just try to reinstall. It worked for me on Windows 8, I hope it helps someone. -

I try to install on my computer, but every time I try to hit install it stops. He says while it cannot install the element and it gives me an error code 80070003. I tried following the steps of troubleshooting, but they do not seem to help.
Hello
always check the compatibility of vista programs on the link below
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx
If a program is compatible with vista you can try right click on the setup.exe, and then selecting run as administrator
It is not compatible with vista, you can try running it in a previous operating system mode
This does not work for all programs
read the information below
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-compatibility-mode/
If a program is particularly important to you, there is this way of trying
but it's expensive, because you must have a previous operating system license to install
This method also works in vista Home premium, BUT is not supported by microsoft

How to install the drivers of MCi on my Windows Vista
Hello
I'm trying to run a GMAT software and it says run this software, install MCI drivers on your system. Can someone help me please how do I do?
Kind regards
Abdel kaderHi, Maud.
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.
When you are on the site to get the GMAT software is there not a place or a pop up offering you to install to a MCI driver so that you can run this program?
MCI drivers provide the functionality for the MCI commands. The software performs some management tasks database data, but all the multimedia reading, presentation, and recording is reproduced by the individual speakers of MCI.
Drivers vary in their support for the MCI commands and the command flags. Because media devices can have very different capacities, MCI is designed so that individual drivers extend or reduce the command sets to match the capabilities of the device. For example, the record (MCI_RECORD) command is part of the command for the MIDI sequencers, but the MCISEQ driver included with Windows does not support this command. The reference for the record command explains type peripheral devices sequencer recognize the command. This does not mean that all devices of this type is supported by the command. Applications should use the ability command (MCI_GETDEVCAPS) to determine the capabilities of a particular device.
You probably want to check on the site in which you use to get the GMAT to see where this MCI driver for you to download.
Please post back and let us know if this information was useful to solve your problem or not, so that we can help you if necessary.

Age of Empire 3 compatibility with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium
This program will not be installed. It installed once, I entered the key code, etc., he got right through to the end and finished but their was no installation, IE no programs found in the program section or all the shortcuts created on my desktop.
When I tried to install it again, the autorun.exe file runs when I insert the CD, but when it comes to the "preparation for installation step" he stops just by closing the dialog box and nothing happens. When you use the uninstall from the CD is the same.
Hello LyndonLoader, welcome.
My recommendation would be to disable the startup items that may be preventing Setup from finishing. Try this.1. click on START2 type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and press enter3. go to the "Startup" tab and uncheck all the entries displayed4. click on 'Apply' at the bottom right5 restart your computerLet us know what happensThank you!Ryan Thieman

I tried to install age of empire III on my computer windows 7, but I got an error until I had to even insert the key (ERROR 1603 consult windows help install (msi.chm) or MSDM for more information). I tried to enter in the files and run the setup.exe as an administrator, but it did not help.
Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?
AoE3 is fully compatible with Win7 and I had no problem at the facility, but it may not be compatible with
your graphics accelerator if it's an older 'integrated' graphics chip.
(This should show a different kind of error message, but sometimes Windows spits a seemingly unrelated error message.)
Try to post on AOE3 forums below. There may be someone who has had the problem with the installation of the game-

Whenever I have try and install Age of Empires III it gives me this "Age of Empires III is not installed. This Setup will now stop. "I have windows 7. Does anyone know why this might happen?
Not sure, but I would try to open the installation program by double-clicking on it and selecting 'Run as administrator' to try to prevent what whatsoever to interrupt the installation.

I installed age of Empire III and he plays very well. I tried to install the extension supplied with the game war of chiefs. He gets 90% download then a # 1305 error "check files exist & I can access." He wanted to go one further in the installation then cancels. I also got a 2nd error 1603 # «Fatal error during installation»
How to solve this problem. I've NEVER played the war of Chiefs before and actually forgot that I still had it in the package. I played age of Empire III several times before.

Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties uninstalling problem
I installed Age of Empires III and two packs of its expansion. But when uninstalling, I left the Asian Dynasties and proceeded with the other two, and now I can not uninstall the package Asian Dynasties. Even when I try to install all the Asian Dynasties installation program once again, try to uninstall and fails to do so, stating the reason in the form of two missing files. Is it possible to remove the traces of the previous installation, as all the files in the installation directory have been removed?
Hey aniket_s,
What are the two missing files?
You may need to rely on software from third parties to remove the traces of the previous installation of the registry.
Please use your favorite search engine, and find one that is used.
Before reinstalling the game, temporarily disable any anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware software running on your system, then try reinstalling.
