How to install an older operating system?

I have an old book of mac pro, it s about 7 or 8 years.

Accidentally, I ve installed the new version of the OS and all of a sudden the laptop it s even not connect. In my opinion, is due to the new system and I wonder how to install and old BONES.

Clues?

The OS X installer should not allow that to happen.

With Vista, you can then install XP as the second installed the operating system in a dual boot.

    Hello

I suggest you go through the steps and check if it helps.

    Right click on my computer

    (a) click on properties

    (b) go to the Advanced tab

    (c) click on settings under startup & recovery

    (d) change the seconds to display the operating system to 0

    (e) to the operating system you want to start the default operating system to help the drop drop-down

    (f) click Ok

    (g) click on apply

    (h) click Ok

I would also ask you to contact the manufacturer of the hardware for the recovery media. You can also check if the system has a recovery partition, and if so, try to access, which will reinstall the original operating system.

  • My computer has been infected recently with Sirefef (AB and W variants). How will I know if I do a backup/clean install of the operating system or not?

As says the question: my computer has been infected recently with Sirefef (AB and W variants).  How will I know if I do a backup/clean install of the operating system or not?

I'm running a full system scan in ESM right now, and it has detected multiple instances of sirefef.   I have remove as they pop up, but I'm afraid that when I run another scan they all will always be there.  Is there a way to know if MSE is actually remove them and he cleaning?  If not, should I do a back up and reinstall the OS?

Thank you.  I can choose to try this, however, I would like an answer to my other questions first.

Sirefef is a rootkit and yes he can hide in your system.  This is why it has been suggested that you may need to reformat/reinstall.  In fact, it's the only way to eliminate malware.  Multiple scans with several scanners and no conclusion malware probably indicate he disappeared, but the key word is "probably".  Malwarebytes is good and what he finds now may be traces of the infection, but what he finds perhaps not active more - it is always good to run the scans so.

What spare drive did you run?  What scanners did you use?  See again you and follow the guide "Malwaretips"?

For the firewall problem, you can try the following Microsoft Fixit.

Diagnose and automatically fix problems of Windows Firewall service

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_firewall_diagnostic/en-us

One of the users of the Forum answers maintains that a great guide on information security is important for understanding the removal of malicious software.  See the following compliments of Brian M - for suggestions on how to solve your problem: http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide/#after see: after the removal process and solve the problems of Post disinfection

Uninstall/reinstall of MSE is how?  All the problems?  Have you tested MSE with eicar to be sure it's working?

Assume that you have not had an opportunity to review the MSE Installation Checklist or you would have noted that MSE and Windows Defender cannot be used on the same computer.  So if WD works in fact it means MSE has been disabled/not not work correctly or not installed.

See the next WD re: Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials

  • had to install the new operating system and bookmarks are gone

Hiya. I had problems with the computer and the fix was to install a new operating system (windows 7 it was old, windows 8 is the new). Most of my old files make the switch, but when I downloaded firefox, my favorites have disappeared. I looked in my profile in the menu, but it's the profile that I created today by downloading firefox. Where can I find my old profile? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you, Billy

Was this an upgrade of type "on the spot" where your user folder

    C:\Users\youroldusername\

was intact, or did you end up with a new user folder? In the case of a new user folder, you will find a folder named

    C:\Windows.old\Users\youroldusername\

If so, your Firefox data are probably here - and here's how I suggest to access:

First of all, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

    Then click in:

    Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\

Note: there is a cache under AppData\Local folder, but everything important is under AppData\Roaming.

Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably one you want to restore.

This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect these data in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

    A little luck?

Note that if you really ONLY want to bookmark, copy the last two backups of the old bookmarkbackups folder to a location such as the desktop, see the following article (you will use 'Choose file' in the menu to access these backups): restoring bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer. Note that this process will replace all new bookmarks that you may have saved since installing Firefox again. If you need to preserve those, first use the export feature: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks.

My computer a gateway 815GM Media center PC has become black and start with some gray characters and words back up your data and replace the hard drive is bad. (or similar) My question is how can I move the operating system Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to a new hard drive.  Since the problem is the hard drive and all the computer a new operating system should not be purchased.  If there is no way to move it is it possible Microsoft send a replacement free of charge, or at least OS with only shipping.  My computer came with it pre-installed, and I have not received the drive with the OS on it.  What can I do?  Thank you for your information.

When you received your entry door, it came with a CD or operating system recovery disc. If you no longer have that (or has not made a recovery disc set a utility included), contact Gateway to buy a set of recovery disks. It is normally fairly cheap. Then install the new hard drive and booting with the recovery disk to restore your computer to the factory State. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • When installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system?

Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

Disconnect any other (additional) internal hard drives and external USB devices.
Look for any loose hard drive power or cables SATA, graphics card or other power cables.

    First run Memtest86 +:
It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory

Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

    Hello

I'm not expert Dynadock but one thing is very interesting. According to your assignment, you use Windows XP Home SP1 edition. I wonder what will happen if you have installed SP2 with all latest updates.

I don't know about you, but maybe you really need to install SP2. I don't see any other reason why this software cannot be installed.
