  I try to install the newest Flash Player for 64-bit Firefox (it's actually a customized version called BlazingFast built on firefox 12.0).   Problem solved!

  Created a Restore Point system and boldly charged before.  Using the Safari browser, I open the Flash Player download page and installed the version of Safari.

  The Flash Player Plugin for Safari installed correctly with zero negative impact on Flash Player IE8.

  I was too careful... my concerns were unfounded.
