How to isolate svchost memory problem use which is BOUNCING - Windows 7 SP1,.

I have a seemingly common problem with svchost executing a sub-process that uses too much memory (about 1 GB).

I read some of the tips advice in other places, and MS know using Process Explorer and disabling of processes such as

Windows Update, even if I don't him have yet done.

The problem on my system is intermittent, often at startup, but not always, and the system can operate for several hours without problem.

So I would like to collect some details historically.

The Norton Suite, I will provide a history of alerts performance svchost, but I cannot determine from this one

piece of information which process svchost and sub-process is the culprit.

How can I record the kind of detail found in the Process Explorer so that I can identify the guilty post-hoc?

-Update

Completely disable the Windows Update process has eliminated severe performance problems I was experiencing.  The procedure is described here:

http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-fix-svchostexe-errors-and-problems-with-high-CPU-usage/

I also ordered a memory upgrade for laptop (2 GB to 8 GB) so that I can activate W7 updates.

Currently on Windows Vista Home Premium, trouble with SVCHOST.exe using anywhere from 20% to 30% of my CPU. I know and understand that SVCHOST.exe controls many important functions in Windows, and that some of them may, but should not be cut.

I'm almost certain that this is not a virus, so please try to steer clear of this response.

  • "SVCHOST memory could not be read" preventing Windows startup.

When I turn on the laptop it crosses starts and when the logon Windows page happens I get an error.

SVCHOST. EXE 'Instruction at '0x001c623c' referenced memory "0x0000003c".  The memory could not be "read".  Click OK to finish.

After that, I am unable to connect.  When I try to open a session on the system hangs and must be turned off.  If I try to start in safe mode it crashes as well.  All this came after I installed Norton.  I had just removed a virus ' HDD more "and the computer had no problem starting.  After that I removed the HARD drive and I rebooted with the problems and installed Norton.  He started giving me problems when I rebooted after the installation of the Norton.

The laptop is a Toshiba XP.

We ended by wiping the machine and start from scratch.  It was a pain because we had to re - install all the other programs that was using the computer.

In any case, at the time, that the computer has been infected, there was only the McAfee that came with the computer.  He also had Spybot but it was not configured for continuous operation.    After that I followed the instructions to get rid of the Plus HARD drive, I've removed McAffe and then installed the Norton.   I have never connected to the internet after you remove McAffe or during the installation of Norton.  After installation of Norton I did the reboot and it's then that SVCHost problems appeared.

In any case, consider this problem fixed, thanks to those who offered help.

  • Problem using Bootcamp to install Windows 8.1 MacBook Pro

    Hello

I have a MacBook Pro (retina, mid-2012) running OS X El Capitan v10.11.1. About two years ago, I installed Windows 8.1 using boot camp with no problems. Since then, I upgraded HDD from the laptop of the original 500 GB SSD to a Transcend JetDrive 725 960 GB SATA III. Note, this is the only upgrade material I have made to the computer. Following this hardware upgrade that I decided to only restore my Macintosh HD, or unfortunately I will not restore the Bootcamp partition.

I am now trying to install Windows 8.1 using training camp again, but unfortunately a few problems that prevent quick installation, I've experienced in the past. I have read this problem a lot but have not found a solution that works for me. Here are the steps that I've repeated several times:

-Download an ISO of 64 bit Windows 8.1 since: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows8ISO.

-Connect Force SanDisk Cruzer 8 GB USB 2.0 support

    -run Assistant Boot Camp

-check all the tasks and continue

    -create a 60 GB partition

-computer restarts automatically, and a windows setup screen

-Enter the serial number of the product

-Select installation upgrade, see here: http://s20.postimg.org/t7wy0siod/Photo_07_12_2015_12_16_23.jpg

-PROBLEM: I am told that the installation cannot complete, see here: http://s20.postimg.org/day642qa5/Photo_07_12_2015_12_16_31.jpg

I repeated this a few times with several USB 2.0 flash drives, but with the same results. I also tried selecting ' Custom: install Windows only (Advanced) ", but the next screen does not allow installation on the bootcamp partition, see here: http://s20.postimg.org/3mkq0xvgt/Photo_07_12_2015_12_15_09.jpgand here: http://s20.postimg.org/5pv58lv9p/Photo_07_12_2015_12_15_00.jpg "

I would be grateful if someone could please help with this problem.

    Thank you

    Al

It is the expected behavior. OS X does not have a license for the creation of NTFS. It creates a FAT partition. After the error, select the Format for only the partition named Bootcamp (do not use another partition) and let the installer to format it to NTFS and continue the installation.

Upgrade will not work, because there is no previous installation of Windows to upgrade. You see the error message is correct.

  • How to create a recovery image using the key of Windows 8?

    Confusion of title: original backup

I bought Windows 8 online... downloaded and installed.

When Windows Update 8.1 is available, the Microsoft support team made this update remotely... as I was part of the people having problems.

I would like to make a recovery disk, but I thought the key for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 will be different.

Do I have to re - install Win8 and then perform the update 8.1 in case of failure of the system because of the issue?

Can I make a picture of the current installation to reinstall?

    Hello Terry,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have installed Windows 8 and then upgraded to level to Windows 8.1 through an update.

Windows 8 key can be used for the 8.1 Windows as well.

I just built a new machine a week ago. New drive M/b etc and expense installing Win7 Ultimate x 64, SP-1. Fully patched. The first time I downloaded the installer it would fail after three pilot guests and about 95% of fact. Then she blinks several times, push installs it and fail in the .msi with an error file, she could not rely on the VMWareAuth service. It is a non-area of machine and I am a member of the local administrator group. I had zero problems install any other software that I built this machine. Today, I deleted the EXE file and downloaded again. I also disabled UAC to try again. Now, it fails and no data except that the msi is not installed. Have tried several times.

The Avast protection shields did not help.

VMWare, you guys have a position on this issue at all?

Personally, I had no problem installing the TP (or the current GA version) with the last product installed Avast however while I agree that temporarily disabling an endpoint security product is certainly more pleasant to the taste and not unwarrented sometimes however this questions has developed fairly recently that the common denominator was having to uninstall the product Avast!   In addition, IMO it is a matter of Avast that not a question of VMware and users should complain to Avast that they need to completely uninstall the product Avast to install legitimate software.

  • invokeLater() or synchronize (getEventLock ())? When to use which?

    Hello

I'm a bit confused on invokeLater and synchronize (getEventLock). How do I know when to use which?

    Thank you

For everything that happens in quick succession, you cannot use invokeLater() because it will overflow from the event queue. If you want that it be done immediately, then use the block synchronization (or in some cases invokeAndWait()). invokeLater() can wait until the next iteration of the cycle of the event, which can cause something seems nervous or lag according to what you are doing.

OK, I seem to have bypassed the error.

Although the CIM server on host Service showed the execution, I have restarted using the following

    CIMService = Get-VMHostService - VMHost $item | Where {$_.} Label - match "CIM Server"}

    Restart VMHostService - $CIMService HostService - confirm: $false

After that, the previous code worked
