How to limit connections wireless just mine?

I have a laptop on my home network connected to the Internet via my router wireless.

I want to stop the connections to other areas except mine - how can I do this?

In my short tests any wireless network SSID, I put in the blocked list and hide thereafter, was persistent after a reboot of my laptop, IE. I didn't yet see the network stuck in the list of available wireless networks. You many need to open network and sharing Center , and then select manage wireless networks (at left) and then delete the unwanted networks your laptop connected earlier from this list.

Have you looked at the netsh wlan add filter enable command string? Who can do what you want insofar as only being allowed to connect to your network. The downside is that if you take the laptop on a remote site you may not be able to connect to the available public wireless networks. I have not tested this.

Commissioning of script is another problem. I have not tried which either, but will if I get the chance.

Ahhhh... Al, your second paragraph (first cited above) seems to address the issue of persistence, I'm assuming that could not be solved by a startup script. Of course, we should do a cleaning of the networks unwanted help to manage wireless networks.

Looking at the netsh commands, may be running following may operate.

netsh wlan add filter permission = denyall networktype = adhoc
netsh wlan add filter permission = denyall networktype = infrastructure
netsh wlan set blockednetworks = display hide
netsh wlan add filter permission = allow ssid = ssid1 networktype = infrastructure

where ssid1 is my SSID. In other words, all deny, hide all, and then grant ssid1 only. The question is now - would undo the last command the other...?   ;-) - Wayne

Yes, it works. I ran chains of command...

netsh wlan add filter permission = denyall networktype = infrastructure
netsh wlan set blockednetworks = display hide
netsh wlan add filter permission = allow ssid = My_SSID networktype = infrastructure
netsh wlan add filter permission = allow ssid = My_SSID_G networktype = infrastructure

As you noted all the neighbors of wireless networks have been blocked and hidden while I was able to connect to my two networks, the only ones listed in the list of available networks.

Now, caution is that it is perfect for a desktop wireless PC because it does not move physically.

With a laptop, you'd be only able to connect to your wireless home network. That is obviously not desirable if you travel at all or take your laptop for work, etc. In this case, I recommend blocking and hidding individual networks one compared to ordering of denyall coverage.
