  Go to control panel > view large icon > system > Advanced System settings > Advanced tab > performance > settings.

  You should see the Windows 7 of this version (mine is Windows 8 but only the border is different).

  Uncheck the fade and slide first the features and see what difference it makes. If this isn't enough, uncheck the others. There is a relatively subtle balance between looks and snappiness of the screen.
