How to make Firefox open search results in a new tab instead of on top of the already opened page?
When I do the search via the search engine on the upper right corner, the search results open on the top of the page I see right now, instead of in a new tab, so I keep forgetting to open a new tab before every search. How can I change this, open the results in a new tab?

How can I have the search results in a new tab?
When I search something, regardless of the search engine used, the search results appear in the "active" tab Is there a way to configure Firefox to open a new tab and show the results of the research in this new tab automatically? Yes, I can do it manually by opening a new tab, to do research, but it would be much more "user friendly" it would be automatic.
I use an Apple Mac Pro running Mac OS x 10.7To avoid extra keys or the steps and make the option to open search results in a new tab (or not) easy and convenient, install this add-on:
As long that the checkmark next to "Open in a new tab", a new tab opens to the search results. Click the icon in the search bar, far left and click "Open in a new tab" to check or uncheck this option.

I can't separate Mozilla Firefox from bing at the top of my opening page. Them is only about a quarter of an inch of firefox display. The portion of Bing is covering a section which offers the file, editing, display, tools and Help.I have tried everything I know, but without success. I had to many pages open at the same time opening. Because I have no access to the Tools section, I couldn't remove the additional pages. I was able to erase an add at a time but not the entire page. I can't take them off no matter what I try in the Tools section. I hope I have given you enough information to help.

I do not change my Google settings. I've always had it ready to open search results in a new window. Some time before, he began to open two windows that have the same url/content.
This problem may be caused by an extension that is not working properly.
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

How to make firefox 12 homepage search using google
I've just updated to firefox 12, but in the homepage of firefox(default homepage), he always search using the yahoo search engine, how I can convert for the search using the google search engine?
Hello
You should take a look at article in the Knowledge Base using the search in Firefox bar. Your default search may have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc. have been know to request to become your home page and change your search engine.
If the address bar search has been changed, so you can take a look at Search the Web from the address bar.
If this does not work, you should look the article How to fix preferences that will not save.
If you are specifically talking about the topic: Home page then proceed by the-edmeister:
Firefox button > Web Developer-> Notepad.
Copy and paste this script into Notepad > then click on run > runJavaScript: {localStorage ["search-engine"] = "{\"name\":\"Google\",\"searchUrl\":\ "(_ http://www.google.com/search?q=_searchTerms & ie = utf - 8 & oe = utf-8 & aq = t & rls = org.mozilla: en - org.mozilla & client = firefox-a\"}";void(0) ;}.

How to configure firefox to open outlook e-mail links in a new tab instead of having this "crush" a tab currently open? For example, that I have a tab open and consult the information about this. An email comes in via outlook and I want to read a confined link. When I click on the link, it will open in the tab I have currently open. I would like to open it in a new tab.
You mean Outlook, the standalone version and not the new iteration of Live (live.com) mail to Outlook.
I think that the default is to open in a new tab in the last active window, but you can check it out here and replace the default value:
(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the search above the list box, type or paste link.o and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) double-click the preference browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external and change it to 3 and OK change
The options are:
-1 = apply the setting in Options > general > tabs of external links (default)
3 = open external links in a new tab in the last active window
2 = open external links in a new window
1 = open external links in the last active tab replaces the current page -
How can I get a search result to activate a new tab?
In previous versions of Firefox that I used, whenever I typed a word or phrase in the search box in the upper right corner, the result automatically activated and appeared as a new tab (he could appear as a new window browser FF all together, I don't remember for sure).
In the version I use (6.0.2), whenever I have a search using said search box, the result is automatically displayed on the current page, I'm on. It changes the page I'm on.
How can you change or where is the parameter that has to be changed (I looked in 'tool', then '' options' and have not found a setting/choice for this action)?
I would greatly appreciate help on this, since I have concluded that it is frustrating for some time. This is the first time, I looked for a solution with you' well all. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
David
You can do one of the following:
- After you enter your search term in the search bar, you can middle-click or Ctrl + left - click on go (magnifying glass) button in the search bar (= Middle-click (press the scroll of the mouse wheel).)
- You can change a preference to always open a new tab when searching from the search bar by pressing the Enter key only (not the URL/address bar):
- type of topic: config in the URL/address bar
- If you see a cautionary, accept it (promise to be careful)
- Filter = browser.search.openintab
- Double-click this preference in the lower part of the screen to move to "true" (the default value is 'false')
- See-> http://www.longworth.eu/2011/02/27/mozilla-firefox-open-search-bar-results-in-a-new-tab/
- Using about: config-> http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
- See also: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries (click on "Browser", scroll down to browser.search.openintab)

In windows 7, how to make firefox automatically starts when the computer is turned on
In Windows 7, how to make Firefox starts automatically when I turn on the computer. Note, I ask how to do this with Windows 7, xp, not vista.
You place a shortcut to open Firefox in the start menu > programs > startup folder.
It is essentially the same in all versions of Windows. -
I go to a website and log on to it.
Firefox asks me if I want to save the password.
I say no.
Later, I decide that I don't want Firefox to save the password on this website. How can I make Firefox ask me if I want to save this password again?
The Web site is not listed in the (Options-Security-passwords-Exceptions) list.
I see that you always use the old version of Firefox 29.
In this version autocomplete = off on the form will prevent Firefox to store the name and the password.
In this version, you have the signon.overrideAutocomplete set to true.
In Firefox 29, the default value is false, and in the current version this pref is set to true by default and will bring up the door hanger to remember the password. But you need to update to version Firefox 34 because Firefox 29 known security vulnerabilities.

Hello
Sorry to hear what happens if you run firefox in safe mode?
"If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- Click the menu button
click Help
then select restart with disabled modules.
If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:
- On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
- On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
- Click the menu button

Can I open pop-ups in a new tab instead of a separate window? How?
I'm on the customer's Web site, and whenever I click on a 'link' to move to this file, the link opens in a new window (separate and single w/out of the address bar or whatever it is, IE, files and printing options). Just, I want to open in a new tab but do not see the option to choose which of the pop-ups. The only pop-up windows option I see is to enable or disable.
Hi STRDM, in order to force enter windows pop up opening in a new tab instead on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction. Double-click it and change its value to 0.
