How to make my old address book Outlook Express for Windows Vista Business email?

Recently, I installed Vista Business on my computer. I forgot to save the old address book of outlook express. When the installation is complete, a window pop up told me that a windows.old has been created for the old files etc. I can find the program of outlook express, but can't seem to get my address book. IS is simply lost? Just start by asking mutual friends to send me an email addys? Please help if you can.

Thanks in advance, Bob

You have posted in a group of Outlook. Outlook Express has nothing to do with Outlook. I would try a group OUtlook Express:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xpnetwork/threads Russ Valentine

Lately I often can't get into my Outlook email.  I know that I can use Hotmail, but I need my address book. I know that it has to see with the Qwest no longer carring MSN.   Can you tell me how to recover or to carry it?

The address book is a file with an extension of wab file.  Search for *.wab and then you can click on it to open it.  You can then go to file | Export | Address book, then save it as a csv file.  To import into Hotmail, as in this case: www.windowslivehelp.com because it is where are the experts of Hotmail.

  • How to import a saved address book Outlook Express on a memory stick from another PC?

I'm migrating from an old machine to Windows XP on a Windows 7 PC and can not use my original email client, Outlook Express. But I need import OE since the XP PC AddressBook to Thunderbird on PC Win 7. Any ideas?

Click the Start button, type contacts, then open the Contacts program, then click on the button import, then select the address book (.wab) Windows file and select your OE address book. Then, click on the export button and select comma-delimited (csv) format. Once you have the csv file, you must open in a program editor or csv spreadsheet and organize columns to match the layout of the TB address book. Finally, in TB, select Tools/import... Address books... Text file... Select the csv file and verify that the input fields correspond to TB.

  • Computer crashed and has been restored. I can't find my address book Outlook Express or Outlook Express folders. Please help me.

Computer crashed and a computer store restored our operating system. However, I can't find my address book Outlook Express or Outlook Express folders. Please help me.

Kewl! Did you find a folder named Outlook Express which had a number of inside DBX files? And there a file called Folders.dbx? If so, that's fine.

Write on the way and in the new identity of OE: file | Import | Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and then point to the folder that you have found.

My computer crashed and I can't find my address book Outlook Express, any ideas?

    • Define 'crash '.
    • OE else works?
    1. In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
    2. Do a search, then search for *.wab
    3. If you find your address book, open the address book in OE and then file | Import | Address book (wab) and navigate to the location that you found it in.

    Hello

It's actually a bit more complicated to do than of simply by clicking a button. Is there a particular reason you want to uninstall OE? It mgith be easier to leave and have Outlook 2007 works as your main e-mail program.

If you do not want to uninstall, follow the detail what posted here.

Log in your computer. Make sure that your account has administrative rights. Your CD-Rom drive must be empty. Remove any disc which can be inside.

Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Folder Options '. Click on "display".

Go to the section "hide files and folders. Click on 'display the hidden files and folders '. Check the option "Hide extensions of known file types" to clear it. Click on, and then clear the checkbox "Hide protected operating system files." A dialog box with a warning message is displayed. Click on the Yes"" button. Close the "Folder Options" window by clicking "OK".

Click on the button 'start '. Go to "Programs", then "Accessories". Choose "Windows Explorer".

Find the following three files on your computer:
    1 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
    2 C:\Documents and Settings\votrenomutilisateur\Application Data\Identities (or C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities)
    3 C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book (or C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Local Settings\Application Data\Address Book)

Each of the folders that you located just rename. Click a folder, and then press "F2". Rename the files to: "old_stationery', 'old_identities' and"old_address." When you're done, rename each file, click on "Enter".

Click again on 'Start' and select 'run '. In the "Open" box, type "regedit".

Locate the following registry keys. Right click on each registry key and then select 'delete '.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WAB
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Windows\ {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Windows\ {7790769C-0471-11D2-AF11-00C04FA35D02}

Exit the registry editor. Click on "Start" and click on "search". Click on "for files and folders.

Find the following files on your computer:
    Inetcomm.dll

    C:\windows\system32\msoeacct.dll
    Msoert2.dll
    MSOE.dll
    Msoeres.dll
    MSIMN.exe
    Oeimport.dll
    OEMIGLIB.dll
    Oemig50.exe
    Setup50.exe

    Wabmig.exe
    Csapi3t1.dll
    Directdb.dll
    Wab32.dll
    Wab32res.dll

Click on each file and press 'F2 '. Rename each file to "filename. Old"(for example, inetcomm.old). Then press 'enter '. That, for each of the files listed in step 10. When Windows prompts you on the protection of the files, click "Cancel". Do not insert the Windows CD in your CD-Rom drive. When Windows prompts you to not recognize the file, click 'yes '.

  • How can I correct my address book so that it inserts the correct email address in the ' to: ' space?

I can't locate the addresses in my address book because of a separate TBird problem which is apparently solved by technical experts, but I also have this AddressBook problem unrelated. When I start typing an e-mail address in the "to:" slot, Thunderbird end address since we can see it in the address book (but I don't). Then he words the address and insert it into the To: field. But, given that the address is blurred, it does not work. I have no idea that the address is blurred. It looks something like this when Thunderbird is done with it: "[email protected]@gmail.com."

Removal and restoration of the profile makes no difference, as export/import of the contents of the address book as an .ldif file makes no difference. I asked this question before, but didn't get any help, so I try again.

This means that a new type of auto-complete was introduced in the last version, but it has been insufficiently tested, and if several other previously hidden bugs have emerged. You can read the discussion (and add your vote for its importance) here:

  • After removing Office 2010 Trial, I lost my address book Outlook Express and cannot open emails.

I installed a free trial of office 2010, but he did not understand the editor which was what I wanted.   I uninstalled it now I lost my address book in outlook express and can't open saved emails.

I can't find my software or backup and think that I lost when I moved.

    Lynn

Yes, you will need to reinstall Office 2000. When you installed Office 2010 trial, he removed Office 2000. Once you get the cd, reinstall Office and should be back up and running.

I can't offer any assistance with address number address Outlook Express however.

    Thank you...
