  Looks like you want to make a backup during import. If this is the case, you can designate a different location for a second copy when importing.

  How do you try to export and import?

  You can follow these steps, I used Oracle here and module PioneerCycling:

  1. first time you start the solid database, copy the C:\ATG\ATG9.1\DAS\solid\atgdb\solid.db to C:\ATG\ATG9.1\DAS\solid\i486-unknown-win32\solid.db
  2. double-click on the file to launch solid DB: C:\ATG\ATG9.1\DAS\solid\i486-unknown-win32\solfe.exe.
  3. to export solid database test data to Oracle, create the file
  C:\ATG\ATG9.1\home\localconfig\atg\dynamo\service\jdbc\JTDataSource.properties
  $class = atg.service.jdbc.MonitoredDataSource

  When you perform the import, you must select the COPY option, and under the Destination on the side right, you must select a location on one of your hard drives.

  As DJ says, double-click the catalog on the external hard drive.

  Or, in the menu of LR, / file/open/and navigate on the external drive.

  Whatever it is, after the opening of the catalog, you will need to go to the library, Panel folders module and 'find missing' on each top-level to tell LR you folders, move the folders on the external drive.

  HI Neil,

  The only way, your data can be removed is if you copy new data to the same file/folder name to him and then click 'Yes' or 'Yes to all' in the warning box that appears informing you that the file/folder already exists.

  If you use a third party application to do the copy for you (such as bckup/restore utility) then this will also have a similar warning window if such a situation arises, and you also have to confirm that you want to overwrite your existing data.

  Short of a malfunction of the external hard drive, there are no circumstances in which the operating system can 'accidentally' too write your data.
