How to open a new window that has a single tab and my home page?

Ago that I had trouble with my internet access so finally deleted Firefox and reloaded it from scratch. Since then, if I open a new window, I get a lot of tabs open. They seem to be the tabs that I had opened the first time I tried to open a new window instead of the tabs, I have now opened. This means that a new window is slow (about 14 tabs open) and does not even include the tabs that I want to use.

Say you that, haven't you. Maybe this thread will help? It refers at the start, but maybe that session restore got so messed up that until he restores to each new window?

Look at the taskbar, the black band at the bottom of the screen. All the windows that you have opened so far are represented by a rectangular box (it's called thumbnail). Click on one of them, and it will appear on the screen.

Other posters have a difficult time distinguishing tabs and Windows, it seems. With a lot of posters here the two terms are used incorrectly and indifferently, as is the desktop and the window of Firefox, but my understanding is that a lot of this "bad language" is taught in schools.

This is the only thing that I could find quickly for you:

Comments on the first link (read carefully). May not work, unless this should be 'current tab's addressare'and it seems he can "take back" the new tabs in the window/new selections (i.e., no new windows/tab blank):

    • Clone the address of the active tab and the story in a new window when the new command window is used (and possibly in a new tab when ordering new tab is used). {It is emphasis added}

I used to be able to open a new window (Ctrl + N) and it would 'only' to open a new window, which is what I wanted.

Now, when I open a new window, it opens a new window, but it does so with a new tab as well.

So if I type "Ctrl + N" for example, a new window AND a new tab when open. I close the tab every time now, because I wanted to only the new window.

Before I updated to firefox 28, I was able to hit cmd + N and it will open a new window with the exact same Web page I was on. Now, he opens a new window with my home page. I guess I got an add-on or extension, but I'm desperate to be able to do it again. Ideas?

  • How to open a new window with a blank page?

More specifically, when I open a new window (CTRL-N), I want a new browser with a blank window and the cursor in the address bar (so I can just start to type the new URL - like Firefox 3.0.3 allowed me to do). In 3.0.3 I was able to set my 'homepage' is empty. I'm more than happy to edit about: config, but impossible to find the right element to change. Notice, if I edit browser.startup.homepage and clear this field, Firefox it set (obnoxiously) back to about: House. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

RESOLVED (found a workaround at least). If I change everything: browser.startup.homepage config and change to about: empty, so I can leave "tools-> options-> general tab - > start-> start Firefox ' value ' show my windows and tabs from last time" and a new window (CTRL-N) will result in a new blank window with my cursor in the field (ready to type a URL) location. Until now, it was my only real concern after the upgrade to 3.03 - very satisfied 10.0.2 so far, thank you Mozilla!

  • How to open a new window when you open a file from a slide on Captivate 9

I am almost at the end of my first e-learning project on Captivate 9 and I have a small question: when I open a PDF file to a slide via a hyperlink or a button (via an ' action'), it's just switching page in the web browser instead of opening a new window.

So I need to press return to return to the project, but it is up to the start screen.

Is it possible to open a second window instead of 'project closing' when opening a file?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Three options.

1: take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

2: any shortcut you use to launch the window, right-click, and select Properties. Under the 'Run' drop-down list, choose "expanded".

    You are welcome.

And certainly let us know how it works.

Here is some other information about the Windows updates for you, I put in place some time and which you may find useful if you are having problems with Windows updates:

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You must only obtain the latest drivers for them to the site of the real hardware manufacturer, like Microsoft normally does not have these latest drivers available as Microsoft invokes the material part 3rd RTOS provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

'Remove an update - Windows 7'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/remove-update#1TC=Windows-7

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • How can I stop Firefox to return to the previous window, as soon as I open a new window?

In recent versions of Firefox, whenever I chaque fois que j' ouvre opens a new window, as soon as the window opens, Firefox goes back to the previous window, the one that was on the screen before I opened the new window. This is very irritating and not happened in older versions of Firefox.

Any suggestions how to solve this problem? Thank you!

FYI, this isn't a forum threaded, so answers are displayed at the bottom...

DOM.disable_window_flip is a true/false preference that determines whether a script in a web page is allowed to change orientation between the windows of Firefox (in general, to be in front, or pop-under by making the window from which it was opened at the front).

By default, this preference is set to true to disable the windows around Web sites to move, but it is possible that the setting has been changed. To view/change this preference, you can use the subject: configuration preferences editor.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the Search box that appears above the listfilter, type or paste the flip and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click dom.disable_window_flip to light it between true and false.

Edit: Corrected by the post below.
