  The .wpd extension is a WordPerfect document. Unless you have
  WordPerfect, or a compatible program installed, you cannot open it.

  Know that sounds strange (and your logic must have worked as it was), but you can not test the variable preset 'attachments' null. Change your logic in this and it should work:
