How to print a web page in PDF format in Windows 7 after Firefox version 8?

Some web pages do not print to PDF after Firefox Version 8. The result is incomplete PDF or progress printing stops at a certain point and Firefox is stuck. For example, the following web page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln prints to PDF with Firefox Version 8, but it does not print with any version newer than 8 Firefox. Note that the latest version of Acrobat Professional produced the same results, but also the other PDF generating tools such as 'FreePDF XP' and 'Bullzip. Also, the same web page on this same machine prints of in Internet Explorer. However using Internet explore is not a solution for our needs.

Thank you for looking into this.

This page print to PDF for me in 17 Firefox on Windows 7 x 64 - I tested pdfFactory Pro and PDF Creator.

You can try to reset all the printing preferences in the case where some corruption has crept in over time. This article that describes more in detail: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages

Could you also try to disable graphics hardware acceleration? I don't know if this affects printing at all, but just in case.

You need to restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

If you restart Firefox, you will notice no difference?

A standard Diagnostics in order to avoid interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Mode without failure of Firefox.

First of all, I recommend you backup your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox. (You can copy your profile folder Firefox together somewhere outside the Mozilla folder).

Then restart Firefox in Mode safe (questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode) of Firefox help

Help > restart with disabled modules

In the dialog box, click "start mode safe."

If you can print PDF files normally, it points to one of your extensions or custom as the problem settings.

To also disable plugins, you can try here:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > Plugins category

Any change?

  • How do I re-sequence pages in pdf format, which is in the booklet format?

I have a pdf file that is an A5 booklet to print double-sided, with two A5 pages printed on an A4 area.  I would like to re - sequence these pages to single page number ascending order, for reading online.  How can I do?

The first page A4 of my pdf file consists of page 1 left A5 and A5 page 48 on the right, followed by the second page A4 including A5 page 47 on A5 page 2 on right and left, and so on.  [I can print this OK in pamphlet form, except as the second page of A4 size, etc. is upside down.]

Should I take the crude approach grunt and cut and paste each page A5, one at a time, in a new document?  I use Acrobat Pro XI

You can reorder pages by dragging them to new positions in the Pages pane on the left.

What I observe is that the first link requires the connection while the second link is a general link that are accessible without login.

Currently Chrome extension does not support the conversion of pages requiring a password.

Please let us know if this happens for pages that don't require a password or login ID too.

  • Printing a Web page to a .pdf or .xps file generates a file but it is empty. How can I fix it? I have Firefox 40.0 on a new computer laptop for Windows 10

When I print a Web page to a .pdf or .xps file, it creates a new file, but file Explorer says it's 0 KB in size. These .pdf files will open, but they are white - the only thing that appears is the outline of a page, without anything in the outline. When I print an .xps file, File Explorer shows that it contains 0 KB. When I try to open it, I get a message saying that the XPS Viewer cannot open the file. These things just started for me a few days after I installed Firefox 40.0 on a new computer laptop of Toshiba Satellite with 10 Home Windows operating system. I have the latest version of Flash Player (in fact, I just tried redownloading and reinstalling the current version; that does not solve the problem). I tried to change the format by default to print to .pdf file, but that has not solved the problem. I contacted the chat Windows support site; They told me that it was not a Windows problem. Is this a Firefox problem? If so, you can tell me how to solve the problem, please?

First of all, try to disable the extensions to see if that helps this, then try safe mode.

  • Print a web page translate several pages when there should only be one page. How to adapt?

When I try to print a web page, the result is several partial pages. I tried to adjust the scale, but nothing seems to work. Where can I get this type of adjustment?

    Three possible causes.

    1. the page is intended for managers and each frame is print separately. If you right click on the page you will see a menu item for this framework , if this page contains frames. You'll see on this test page.
    http://www.draac.com/framestest.html

    2. a page wide margin setting. You might be able to see that in Page layout > margins/header and footer page, but some printers are able to get weird settings which do not arise here. When you look at: config these prefs are far
    Print.printer_-printer name_Printer.print_margin_left
    and
    Print.printer_-printer name_Printer.print_margin_right

    3. a non standard paper size is defined in the properties for this printer as seen through Firefox. Could define Custom or picture size.

#2 and 3, do a reset should solve. Do the 'reset as described here:

Make sure that you reset all the preferences for this printer.

  • Prints Firefox 29 blank web pages... or... print web pages in reduced format: does not match the paper size.

I am currently using Firefox 29.

I try to print a web page, for example, a game of words crossed from a journal (the link is below).

    http://www.freep.com/assets/freep/PDF/C422066148.PDF

The puzzle is displayed full-screen, but when I try to print, I get a blank print: nothing is displayed

In Firefox 27, printing would be reduced in size, although the print setting "Fit to page" has been selected.

I don't have this problem when you use Internet Explorer.

There is a bug in the PDF Viewer in Firefox 29. There should be an update in the near future to fix. For now, the best solution is to use a plugin instead of the built-in Viewer. Since you have the Adobe Acrobat plugin, it is a logical choice for you. This article explains how to make the transition: How to disable the built-in PDF Viewer and use another Viewer.
