How to reconfigure the boot.wim file

Hey people, I'm trying to update my Win7 Ultimate from Vista Home Premium laptop.  However, when the beginning of the installation I get an error this boot.wim file must be reconfigured to mark 9 settings, whatever.  I did a lot of research on the web and found a file called WAIK and installed it on my laptop.  What I don't know how to use it properly.  It seems to be the solution above my head for such a beginner like me.  I guess that what I need is for someone to give me detailed instructions on what to do and once it is done where to put the file.  Just to let you know I have already copied the boot.wim from my win7 disc and the file install.wim.  I read that this file must also be reconfigured as well.  BTW, this is an original not a pirate windows disk.  Also, if anyone knows where I can just get the files already configured that would be great.  I would also like to thank the volunteers for answering my previous question.  Your solution worked great!  I don't seem to be able to get an answer here.  I clicked on the reply button, but nothing happens.  Anyway, thanks in advance for any help. I really want to do a clean install, because I'd lose data so well that I have backups I would have to reinstall to new programs too.  If you need more info, I'll be happy to offer what I can.

You don't need WAIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit), so you can uninstall it. Run the Windows Upgrade Advisor - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/upgrade-advisor and follow the recommendations. Uninstall your program antimalware (except Windows Defender) and run an uninstall/cleanup tool for every anti-malware program that may have been installed. List of anti-malware removal tools - http://experts.windows.com/w/experts_wiki/156.aspx and then try to upgrade.

    Hello:

    Darren is correct, that you need to update the boot via TFTP code. His instructions are correct for when you get the TFTP server defined and loaded file in it. There are many free TFTP server applications on the net that you can download. One of my favorites for Windows is TFTPD32 (or TFTPD64 for 64-bit machines). There are both free applications Mac but I don't have that I use.

    Once you have a TFTP server installed on your machine, place the file with 'BOOT' in the name of the TFPT Server directory. Directed by Darren: go/file management and select backup/upgrade the Firmware, go to "via TFTP' and select 'Boot Code.' Put the IP address of the server or computer that runs the TFTP software and the name of the file and apply the update.

    Reboot the switch and the bootloader is now updated!

    Then follow the normal procedure for the upgrade of the firmware: go to the file management /-> Firmware Upgrade / Backup-> "via the HTTP protocol' and find your firmware file and apply.

  • XP pro do not start after changing the Boot.ini file

    The problem is that my C: partition Windows 7
    D: has XP Pro

    These should be considered right resp. partitions 1 and 2?

    I wanted to first XP pro to start the default partition.

    A few days ago, I made a change to the boot.ini file. But since XP Pro was not starting at all.

    I tried XP Pro to start first that the default partition.

    Given that XP Pro and my D: drive have not been starting, I consulted the boot.ini file in C:, Windows 7 partition and I changed the order (i.e. partition No.) in the boot.ini file and saved it to the required location, i.e. D:/WINDOWS/pss.
    through my drive C: of work, i.e. the partition of Windows 7, but it still does not work because apparently even though I save here, the actual values and the paths of the partition are not actually be changed on the system. I confirmed this by going into the CMD shell switching to D: and by running the command D: > bootcfg.
    Apparently any values I save in the boot.ini file that I save as a text file or "All files" in D:/WINDOWS/pss/it does not actually change in the system because whenever I run the command bootfg values are remaining still and not able to be changed, because apparently it is not saved in XP Pro and the D : partition. No matter what I do and what I put in the boot.ini file to access the values through the windows 7 partition, the values that bootcfg returns me are always the same and he refuses to change the name of path or anything else. No matter what orders, I also put in bootcfg himself.

    These are the values that bootcfg gives me:
    default: multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS

    Boot entries:
    Boot entry ID: 1
    Friendly name of operating system: MS Windows XP Professional
    Path: multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS
    The operating system load options: / noexecute = OPTIN/FASTDETECT/usepmtimer

    My XP Pro partition is simply not booting, and it of my main partition and has all my work. It is imperative that it starts.

    My Windows CD is also not start because apparently my DVD drive does not work properly, I had the anti malware threatfire (ThreatFire) installed on my XP D:Windows program disk but have uninstalled just in case it was blocking my changes to the system.

    On C:Win7, I put the default operating system option in the Advanced tab for Win7 and the D:XP Pro to XP Pro, when he was the starter and work. Now I can only access my files D:XP Pro Player C:Win7. But XP is not just start. What shd - I do? Thks.

    I don't have a very practical windows CD but my CD/DVD drive is not read and does not properly.

    Looks like your original post stated that your cd/dvd does not work.

    Respectfully, you will continue these hap hazard patches and your computer will not start at all. I'll try to help you once again. Please follow closely.

    Start your computer by loading Windows 7. Click HERE and download EasyBCD. Install the software in trial version. Once installation is complete open EasyBCD. You will see an interface like the image below. Click Add a new entry.

    A new screen appears as in the image below. Use the drop down menu to select Windows NT / 2 k/XP / 2 k 3 as described below. Type the name of the operating system in the box below. Of course, it will be Windows Xp (you can add the home or Pro to the name if you want). Make sure now that there is a check mark in the box "automatically detect the correct player. Once you have completed these steps click on 'add an entry '. That's all! You are finished. If all goes well, and if you have followed these steps carefully, there, now you have a system dual boot.

    You can now start working on your cd/dvd problem.

    Windows cannot do natively.  A file name is simply a file name and you can not prevent the registration of a file based on its extension.

    You can change file associations, such as a double click on a file with a particular extension will not automatically launch an application given, however, but that's not what you asked.
    You may also schedule a program to run from time to time which will erase all files with a given as well.  but until this program is executed, such a file might exist on your disk.

  • How to upgrade the already encrypted files on the USB HDD with new XP Recovery certificate

    I backed up the files encrypted in My Documents on a USB drive on which these files are also encrypted state. My computer crashed so I reinstalled the operating system. I wanted to send records encrypted USB HD to my computer or tried to copy projecteurDu and paste them into My Documents. I could not do this because I got "an error occurred in the application...". access privilegesDo i., access is denied. "I created a new recovery certificate and put in place a recovery agent. From there how I update the previously encrypted files on th USB HDD with the new recovery certificate? I'd appreciate a step by step procedure. Can I select the USB drive in the command line and run cipher/u on this drive or make the command/u of encryption on the computer without connecting to the USB HDD

    Sorry to say that my bet is that you never gain access to these files again.

    When you created the files encrypted, Windows creates a key for decryption to access these files and stored, encrypted in your certificate store.  When your system crashed, the decryption key has crashed with it.  Without this key, you will never have access to your encrypted files.  If you have recovered from a backup image-style, you should be able to access these files.  If you've recovered by installing Windows from the installation disc, then you have created a new and different installation with different Secure ID (SID) and a certificate store empty.  A recovery agent will only retrieve encrypted files that were created after that recovery agent was in place - as a new certificate.  What you really need to do, it's your old certificate to restore the backup that you created when you started using EFS.  The following article is mandatory for anyone using the EFS file system.  Special attention to the paragraph entitled "why you should back up your certificates.

    "Best Practices for encrypting file system"
     <>http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/223316 >

    If you do not have a return to the top of your certificate, then things look dark.  There is a program called "AEFSDR' whose 'professional' version comes through what has not been overwritten on your hard drive in search of remains of certificates that could be delivered together to recover.

    Good luck

  • the Boot.ini file is missing

    Miss me the boot.ini file, but I don't have a disc of xp files because windows xp is installed.  Should I buy windows xp to resolve this problem?

    First of all, make sure that you have not left a CD/DVD in a drive that is checked for an operating system before the system partition of the hard drive. If there's nothing there, you should be able to repeat your BOOT. INI file.

    XP BOOT. INI file resides in the root directory of the drive system (usually c :)). This is a simple text file, but marked as hidden. If you have another computer, you can create or copy one from a computer with a similar setup to yours (for example boot from C:, Windows XP files in c:\Windows, etc.).

    The following can be copied into Notepad and saved to create a simple BOOT. INI file.
    [boot loader]
    timeout = 30
    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    "multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional "/ fastdetect
    If you have access to another computer, consider mount the hard drive broke as a slave and creation/copy of a BOOT. INI file in the root.

    How to remove the recovery disc files D?

    Hello

    It is not recommended to delete the files in the recovery partition.  Recovery partition contains the Windows information to retrieve the computer crashing. I would ask you to contact the manufacturer of the computer on it.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to clear the Windows.edb file in Windows 8

    DISPLAY TO THE CLIENT ACCOUNT *.

    The customer has a PC under Windows 8, and he wondered how to remove the Windows.edb file. He recorded 60 GB of information. Is it possible to have the option of Windows search and have this file shrunk down to the size? Is it possible to empty this folder? Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this problem?

    Please respond with more information.

    Thank you very much for the help!

    I just had this problem myself, with a clue consuming 107/278 GiB!

    Here's the trick:
    (1) search for "Indexing Options" (under "settings"). Open it.
    (2) search for 'services' (or run "services.msc") and find "Windows Search". Stop the service.
    (3) remove the Windows.edb file
    4) click on "Change" in the Panel "Indexing Options" already open, then click on "Erase and rebuild" for the index. You can also specify another drive to store the index on.
    Hope that helps.
  • How to run the Extendscript .bat file?

    I have a file with some instructions .bat and I want that it runs from Extendscript.

    How to run the Extendscript .bat file?

    I tried execute(); order and it seems that .bat ran but no result, but when I double click on the .bat file all worksout very well.

    How used runtime.exec () extend the script?

    Can I communicate with Java JDK thru ExtendScript and run commands such as runtime.exec ()?

    can someone please?

    You can do it like this:

    var batFile = new File("C:\\path\\to\\my\\batfile.bat");
    batFile.execute();

    Note that this will only work if your system is configured in such a way that by double-clicking the .bat file runs it in reality.

    You can also use

    system.callSystem()

    but note that this is only available in AE.

  • How to restore the menu bar (file-editing-display) PDF?

    How to restore the menu bar (file-editing-display) PDF? I use version Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Kolja

    I had a similar problem with Adobe Acrobat Pro X, where the menu bar would not appear.  I was able to get menu bar to appear if I resized the document by placing the pointer on the right, left, top or bottom of the document (you see a double arrow), and then by clicking and dragging.

    The problem was definitely solved for all documents by opening Adobe Acrobat without having to open a document.  Then click on Edit in the menu bar.  Then click on Preferences.  In the preferences of the box click on full screen at the top left.  Then find the section Navigation screen complete.  Check the box show the Navigation bar.  Finally click on OK at the bottom right.

    I hope this helps someone and saves a lot of frustration.
