How to recover administrator privileges?

Original title: lost Admin rights!

Minimator started programming & has tinkered with 'ways', now that I've lost admin rights cannot download anything or delete files! A way to get administrator rights?

Who is minimator?

You can probably fix your problem by using the system restore. Here's how it works:
1. keep tapping F8 during the first phase of startup.
2. select Repair from the menu.
3. Select an administrator account, and then enter its password.
4. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
5. set Windows to a point before the "fiddling" was held.
6. Once completed, plan in advance and create, test and document a spare, even admin account that you have a spare House key. Give the one and the only key to House a child seems a bit light.

    1. What is the name of the program you have running with administrator privileges?

    2. what version of Windows are you using?

Example Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    3. What is the problem you are having with the program?

Note: Some basic features of programs manage and perform tasks that may affect the important system files, where the prompt to run as an administrator is displayed to confirm the action. However if you do not want to run the program in administrator mode, you will not be able to use the full functionality of the program.

  • How to reset administrator privileges

My husband left me his laptop, but not his password admin is it possible to reset the administrator account?

If the account is not the built-in account named 'Administrator', then connect to this built-in account and go to control panel > user accounts change or remove the password.

To access the built-in Administrator account:

In XP Pro, at the Welcome screen (while it is disconnected from all user accounts) press CTRL + ALT + DELETE twice.  Enter administrator as the user name and leave the password empty.

Restart the computer using safe mode in XP Home, and the built-in Administrator account appears on the Welcome screen.  If requested a password, leave blank.  This method also works for XP Pro.  To restart in Mode safe mode, press F8 several times just after the power on sequence begins.  If you arrive at the Windows logo, you type soon enough and need to try again.

If your husband had been using the built-in Administrator account, or empty a password for this account does not work, political forum Microsoft prevent us unfortunately to advise you on methods to remove the password.

  • How to get back to the user account administrator privileges?

Original title: lost the privileges on the computer at home. How ca I get it back?

I am the only user on my home computer, using Windows 7 Professional. When you turn on the computer, always offered welcome my administrator screen and waited for a response and normal user accounts before continuing. Rarely need to log on as an administrator and have to go back to the computer just to press a button before it continued its long initialization has been frustrating. Want to remove the log on option user I did it via the Control Panel [don't know how, now!] so now I can turn it on and let it start in his own good time without further interaction from me, which is great.

What is not big, is that I lost all administrator privileges, then any time the area UAC appears asking if I want to continue with the program and I need to answer YES, it won't let me as the Yes box is grayed out.

The management of the computer control panel, I can get local users where I can see that my backup Administrator account is disabled. If I click on the box to reactivate the account, access is denied, so I can not turn on the account.

Help, please!  I would really think my administrator account to return once again, without having to turn off every time.

Thank you for your expertise in advance.

    Here you go:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Configure Windows to a point before you made the change.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

  • How can I disable administrative privileges on all files in windows 7

Every time I change laptops, do a reboot of the system or any work on a file, I get locked out my files

    Hi James,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I see from the description of the problem, you want to know how to disable the administrator privileges on all files.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

To resolve the issue with deactivation of administrator privileges, I need more information:
    1. what exactly mean you by "I get locked out of my files?
    2. are you logged in as a standard user or administrator?
    3. are you referring to the administrator user ID and quick Email?

If you are referring to the administrator user ID and quick Email, try the following steps and check if it helps.
    (a) open user account control settings by clicking on Start button.
    (b) then click on Panel.
    (c) in the Search box, type uac, and then click on change User Account Control settings.
    (d) drag the bar of never notify.

Note: You will not be notified until changes are made to your computer. If logged in as an administrator, programs can make changes to your computer you know on the subject.

Note: User Account Control (UAC) can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users. We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.

See the links for more information.

Let us know the status of the issue after you perform the troubleshooting steps. If you need additional help or information on Windows, I'll be happy to help you. We, at tender Microsoft to excellence.
  • Windows 7, I forgot the password of the account with administrator privileges, how can I reset or remove this password

I have two user accounts, now I forgot the password of an account with administrative privileges, how can I reset or remove this password

There are a lot of options built into Windows to help you out of this situation:
    • Restart the computer with your Windows repair CD, then use system restore to set Windows in a few days (only works if you have recently changed the password).
    • Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (the password is usually empty).
    • Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have taken the time to create such a key file).
    • Use the password indicator (works only if you have created a hint and if it's good enough to allow you to guess the password)
    • Check your paper files (works only if you threw down the password somewhere)
After solving this problem, plan in advance and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare House key.
  • How to stop the exploitation of windows 8 pro administrator privileges File Explorer

Security of Norton had a problem activating.  I called Norton.  The tech support agent took control of my computer.  Norton was uninstalled and reinstalled.  The task has been completed as an administrator.  Norton was asked to enter a PIN activate.  Asked me to call Qwest to get the PIN.  Norton comes as a package with CenturyLink DSL.  The tech support agent uninstalled both Qwest and Norton to reinstall both at the same time.  My computer was working fine.  The next morning at startup, I got a message that said: File Explorer is running for administrator privileges.  Restart the Explorer of files normally and try again.  I can't find how to do this.

I had exactly the same problem, and it's super easy.

    1. press Ctrl + SHIFT + ESC. This opens the Task Manager.

    2. scroll and click on Windows Explorer.

    3. click on restart.

That's all there is to it!

  • How do I allow users without administrator privileges install fonts?

I need allow users to install fonts without administrator privileges.  Googling landed a few eccentric tools, but this isn't an option... I can change the entries in registry, file & directory permissions, use Windows commands in batch scripts, etc. but I can not use any third-party downloads.  In addition, just save them to the police for the session cache is not enough... they should be able to install fonts in C:\Windows\Fonts directory.  It's OK, if they can not uninstall a font, allowing that could remove a font that Windows requires.
