I got a laptop with pre-installed with windows 8, but he later crashed and lost its OS I am using windows 7 now. The product key is not in my email.

Can I recover the same windows 8 because I don't have the product key anywhere?

Yes, you will get your windows 8 recover. You just need to contact the manufacturer of the computer like Dell, HP, Lenovo etc. You must inform your system was crushed and you want to reinstall windows 8.

Furthermore, I would like to inform you, in the pre-installed windows 8 won't get you the key product because due to new technology product in the BIOS keys computer manufacturer.

Please contact them and let us know...

    Hi Carmen,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

I understand that you had not taken any prior backup upgrade to Windows 10 Technical Preview and need product key to retrieve Windows 8.

So, first of all, I suggest you to check the product key in email messages when you purchased the license to the product for Windows 8. Once you get the product key, you can create a Windows 8 ISO and reinstall using this product key. See the following article:

To create installation media Windows 8.1

However, if you had bought the system pre-installed with Windows 8. Then, you may need to contact the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system for Windows 8 discs to restore the older operating system.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know the results for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

  • laptop HP 250 g2: how to recover the product key

I want to recover my product key to activate my windows

    noure

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

You must not be activate Windows on your laptop.

If you have deleted the installation of the OS and replaced by one you what whether you downloaded (for example, a file ISO from Microsoft), that won't work because, most likely, this will be a commercial version and your product key is an OEM from HP version.

That said, you should be able to retrieve the key using this utility: download Windows OEM product key 1.0.0.1 tool

    Good luck

  • How to recover the product key after formatting?

    Original title: ask

Hi, I formatted my hard drive of the PC... and I lost my product key. you will need to recover my product key. What can I do? Help me please!

    Hello

If pre-installed, look for the PK on the COA sticker.

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

If you can't find that, order the recovery media from the manufacturer of the computer that must install without your input of a PK.

    Check with the manufacturer...

    See you soon.

If you reinstall Windows on the computer, there not need product key as it is injected on the motherboard of the factory.

    original title: product key

    Hello

As you have lost the product key of the Tower, it is a preinstalled operating system and you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.

They give you a different product key.

What you can do now is ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for the computer model reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

Also while you are in contact with them, if you never receviced a reinstall to purchase drive, ask them how to make the recovery discs to do the same thing, if you still have access to the recovery partition.

None of these methods of resettlement requires normally allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

    See you soon.
