How to reformat a computer that was previously connected to the network?

original title: change the network to stand alone

We acquire some computers that were on a network: the network no longer exists and we want to use in the State current alones. We have we anything apart from Windows and Office CD that we have, that is all the drivers because they were thought to be on the server.  Any help would be appreciated

Simply reinstall Windows and Office from the CD you have.  The fact that they used to be on a network does not come into play.  Once installed, you can go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com to install updates that are necessary for your computer or see the website of the manufacturer for updated drivers.

  • "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure you typed the name correctly and that you are connected to the network. »

I have a Windows Vista laptop. I usually have no problem printing over the network to my University Library. Then I bought a new Kodak printer to my apartment which I also configured to print wireless. For about a day, I could print from these two networks, depends on the location. Now, I can't print at the library. I am able to see all printers but when I try to 'Connect', it says "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Make sure you typed the name correctly and that you are connected to the network. "Word, printers of the University Library no longer appear in the list you choose to print. What should I do?

    Hello Lauren,

Please take a look at this Microsoft article on "networked printer troubleshooting:
I suggest to disable all security software, including firewalls, you have probably enabled or installed and then try to print again to see if that makes a difference:
  • Problem of password of account, without that we can connect to the network on this computer. The error indicates, "the trust relationship between this device and the network is no longer valid.

Hi, I hope you can help with this problem. A friend has 6 computers networked to a Tower Server and have a problem. A worker student put computers into hibernation, and since then, nobody can connect to the network on this computer. The error indicates, "the trust relationship between this device and the network is no longer valid. I tried to get into the pc to try removing network and replace it, but I can't get on the Administrators account because it has been disabled. I'm at a loss on how to proceed. My friend cannot afford a service call, so I'll try to help him.  Thank you

If the computer is on a domain then there are at least two accounts that can be used to remove the computer from the domain:

    • A domain administrator account.
    • A local administrator account.

When your friend has launched Windows for the first time after buying the machine, he was prompted to enter the name of an account. This account is created automatically with administrator privileges. He should use it now.

  • weird: Vista's view of the content of the flash player that was previously connected

Today, after I clicked on 'file X' in my external hard drive, rather than see content "feature X", I see the content of my flash drive (the last time it was connected)... that is NOT currently connected to my computer. The files from my flash drive show for a few seconds before I have to drive hard 'file X' in my outside, that was the record that I wanted to go to such as mentioned at the beginning of this post.

  • How can I fix computer that does not start after the fan turns phase?

I have a Compaq Presario SR5510F PC, Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Athlon x 2. Lately, my computer is even worse at the start. When my computer starts, the fan should run for a few seconds, then it should stop and lead at the start with Compaq logo screen. But lately, the startup was completely terrible for my computer. Today, most of the time when I press the button in the box of the computer, the fan turns on and it continues to turn, and nothing comes on the screen. It isn't that rarely when the fan stops running, but then the monitor displays always upwards in white and VERY rarely when the startup screen appears, then it freezes on this screen. At this rate, my computer is totally useless when it does nothing but run his fan. This means that I can not go to boot options at all and go to the "last good configuration". What can I do to fix the computer when I can't have anything with her while she is empty?

It sounds like a hardware problem, not a software problem.  If the computer rarely gets past the BIOS (material audit) stage of the startup sequence, then Windows is is not yet involved in the boot process again.  Request assistance from someone trained in the skills of troubleshooting hardware since this can become very expensive very quickly.

  • How can I download the trial AfterEffects 6 I want to use it on a computer that is not connected to the net?

I use a Mac for video editing, but due to the rules of society, he can't go on the Internet with this computer. I have 5 AfterEffects but I need AfterEffects 6 for a project. I wanted to download the trial on Adobe.com, but it wants to install on the 'internet' designated computer which is of course a Win computer and not one that is put in place for video editing.

So how / where can I get the AE6 full test downloaded on my computer Win and transfer it to my Mac, then activate of course on the Mac for the 30-day trial period without having to put this computer online?

I'm sorry Juditka but I don't know of all downloads for After Effects 6.0.

If you are looking to download after effects Creative Suite 6, then the installation files are Download produced CS6.

  • Can I download FF on a USB and then install it on another computer that is NOT connected to the Internet?

I want to download FF at home where I have an internet connection broadband, then take the required data on a USB key to a friend who uses an old computer (w2k OS) and only a 56 k modem and install FF on his computer. Is this possible?

    Hi Litreb,

It's quite possible. Your friend will obviously have a navigation different experience on a modem 56 k, but it should still work as you have indicated.

I hope that answers your question!

  • I'm trying to install Acrobat 8 Std on a laptop computer that was in need of a restoration.  He asks the file AdobePDF.dll since my Vista CD - I do not have.  How can I get this file or another which will allow my Acrobat 8 work on this laptop with Win 8

I'm trying to install Acrobat 8 Std on a laptop computer that was in need of a restoration.  He asks the file AdobePDF.dll since my Vista CD - I do not have.  How can I get this file or another which will allow my Acrobat 8 work on this laptop with Win 8.1, which she did before restoring?

    John,

AdobePDF.dll is in the file Data1.cab. Mine is located in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Acrobat8\Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional\ You need to extract the file "AdobePDF.dll_64" from the .cab file. You can do this with WinZip or 7-Zip. Everything you need to extract is this file, nothing else... Once you have extracted it, remove the _64, so the name of the file is AdobePDF.dll. Then place the file in any location you want and run the program it when asked. For a file location, I suggest to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Acrobat8\

    Hope that helps.
