    Hi momoftwo_,

When you delete a user account, you can choose if you want to keep the files created under that account; However, the messages and settings on the computer for the account will be removed.

    (a) open user accounts by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking user accounts and family safety, clicking user accounts, and then clicking Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (b) click the account you want to delete and then click delete the account.

    (c) decide whether to keep or delete the files created under the account by clicking keep files or delete files.

    (d) click on remove account.

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use disk cleanup. It removes temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of file system and other items that you no longer need.

  • How to remove the user account from the connection Start Page (therefore restart goes directly to the desktop without the need for any clickthru)?

On my Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit system, all I had to do was to remove all the accounts (other than 'administrator') in addition to my login information main user account and remove the password of the Admin account and I use a main user account, and then whenever I reboot, reboot goes all the way to the Windows desktop (i.e. through it does not stop with a cover page showing the user account).

-It does not seem that this approach works for my Vista SP2 Business Edition 32 bit.  In fact - I get TWO accounts of user with the exact name even appear (my account "DougL12"), as well as the "Administrator" account  None of these accounts have passwords (I can just click on one of them, which brings up a screen to enter a password, then click again without entering any PW, and then I get thru on my desk).

When I go to 'User accounts' control Panal and select 'Manage another account', windows displays a screen showing three accounts:

    (1) "Guest" (power off);

    (2) "DougL12" (hey I am running, whose B-T-W has privileges admin; also do not have a password); and

    (3) 'administrator' (which, if I choose only, is not an option 'disable', although it has not one)

    (password).

NOTE: page does not display "" versions of the user account "DougL12", although the login screen that is telling.

    so:

    (1) what do I do to eliminate the appearance of user accounts / Login Screen (i.e., default to my main user

Account, "DougL12" and should not click)?

    (2) any thoughts as to why the system could be displaying two Occurrences of the user account Login "DougL12" on the

    login screen?

At this point your best approach would be to reinstall Windows on this machine.  When you start the machine, search for a key, press the first splash screen OEM that could be labelled 'System Recovery' and [quickly] press this button.

  • How to remove a user account remotely in Windows 8 Pro?

    Hey people!

I have a rather embarrassing question here, which is not urgent, but gives me great concern.
I am an administrator as COMPUTER technician (sort of... without... self-taught qualifications only) to a small property management organization.
I am currently looking for another job, and when you want to leave I might have is any more access to the desktop. I have always (it's the PC I am writing this post since).
I am connected with my private microsoft account, even I use it everywhere, including my own laptop computers and the family too. Needless to say that there is information only I have access to, but I didn't want any hack - in a tent in the future. After all, this is my personal account.
Is there a way to not just turn off sync and access to my account on this computer, but force the system to delete my files on this computer using my account from another computer? even if the files cannot be removed remotely (they are encrypted), if there is a way to prevent my account appears in the settings and the user selection screen would be a great help.
Please note that, from now on, I need to have my account on this PC so that I can access information on the server of office on the fly if needed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
PS: Yes, I said I am a technician, but please note that it is not my job. I'm more in the development of a set of security features of Windows. Everything I know about computers come from self-education (experiences and failures in my childhood), and even though I consider myself a very thorough person, beyond the level of the user, I have to admit that I'm not an expert. especially when it comes to advanced safety features. but my mind is open to suggestions and ideas...

There is no one way to do this unless you have the device software and server management suites.  So basically, not unless you are a massive company.  But even in this case, there is no absolute guarantee, because the company could just disconnect the network and then you'd never a way to send a command to this computer anyway to clear it.  So any local administrator on the computer can still watch all the files, regardless of what protection/security configure you (administrators are like God: they can always see everything without any restrictions at all).

    Hi CED,.

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to know that you are facing a problem of unknown account. It would be useful that you can answer these questions to help you further.

    1. How do you know that it is an unknown account? You receive messages or error codes?

    2. where are the documents and multimedia files stored?

    3. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

If you are referring to an unknown account with a SID string, then try these steps and check if it helps.

    a. go to the folderwhere you saw this string SID.

    b. right-click and select Properties. Click the Security tab.

    c. If it is there, then click on the Edit button, then click the Remove button.

If you are told that you cannot delete this account because it is to be inherited, and then close the dialog boxes and set up a folder in the tree and repeat the procedure. Keep this up until you can remove the ""unknown account " SID in the permissions dialog box."

You can also check the suggestions provided by Marilyn O, moderator of the Forum on July 9, 2012 and check if it helps.

Important: The above link contains steps to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
