How to remove files and folders

I tried, in vain, to install the Visual Suite and went through the standard uninstall routines as well. Despite this, I find that I have literally thousands of "Visual Suite' files and folders on my"C"drive." How do I go about to remove and can all be removed safely?

Thank you

Dan

  • Cannot add or remove files and folders to my favorites

Since I transferred my favorites from my old computer to my new computer, I can't add new files in the folders I had, or remove files or files that were in the list.  If I use the option "Organize Favorites" to delete a file, I get a dialog box titled "file Access Denied".

However, I have no trouble to add new folders or files to my favorites.  I also found that I can move the files from the old list of my favorites in a new folder, but to do this, I first get a dialog box titled "File Access Denied", saying: "you will need administrative permission to move this file.  In this box, there is an option to 'continue '.  When I click on 'Continue', I get another dialog box titled 'User Account Control' saying ' you want the following program to make changes to this computer?  When I click on 'Yes', the file is moved to the new folder.  This is all very frustrating.  Hope you have a solution for me.

    I have Windows 7.

  • How to remove files and previous sites

I tried to twelve sites since abandoned for various reasons - mostly because I couldn't understand where I'm wrong.

Is it possible that I can delete these and and fasteners of the files from my hard drive also the Dreamweaver welcome window listed under recent files.

I use Dreamweaver to work thanks to the excellent tutorial of David Power sensitive site and I noticed small inconsistencies between the screenshots of David and the behavior of my Dreamweaver.

For example: mounting of the navigation bar. I deleted the three spans of the "hamburger" and inserted the text in the Menu. I followed the coding, but when I get to < span class = "glyphon the code hint don't appear not who let me put-chevron-down text manually." No picture appeared - just a small rectangle.

I also note that the list of numbers do not correspond to those on the list David codes and I am alerted to offend coding where items must close etc.

It is so annoying that whenever I get these inconsistencies I guess naturally I did something wrong and my reaction is to wipe the screen clear and back to start - where my wish to clear all previous failures.

OK, tomorrow is another day and another opportunity to do things.

To remove the site definitions, go in Manage Sites and just delete the definitions.  Site files will always be on your hard drive and will have to be removed manually.  For recent Articles, you can erase it by removing your Dreamweaver preferences, I think, but it's really more trouble than what it's worth.  When you start working on new files oldest will disappear and they should not be a concern.

Regarding the tutorial of David, I'll let him speak to that.  My thought is that with each new version of DW CC there are nuances that might cause slight differences, but his tutorials is very comprehensive and should be more often accurate.

    Hello

    ·         What program Antivirus do you use?

This problem may also come from Virus/Malware infection on the system.

I suggest you to run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if that helps resolve the issue.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    Note:

The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

  • How to set, view, change, or remove special permissions for files and folders in Windows XP

It is a problem with iTunes. About 8 months ago I had to reinstall my operating system. When I reinstalled iTunes, it does not recognize my music already purchased. He tells me that songs should be allowed, I put my username and password and it tells me that they are allowed.

So I finally emailed Apple support recently. They suggested that this is a problem with the permissions on the iTunes Media folder. Apple support gave me the following URL address: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308419/en-us.

I followed the instructions on the Microsoft support site. But when I right click on the iTunes Media folder, and then click Properties, there is no security tab, with the following statement on the Microsoft Support site.

I also tried the instructions for "If you are not joined to a domain and want to view theSecurity tab. "In Control Panel, I don't have the choice of themes & appearances. There is a choice of Folder Options, but once in the view tab, there is no choice ofuse simple file sharing.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

  • Remove the lock on all files and folders...?

There has been a lot of questions on how to remove locks on folders and files on Windows 7. Those I've read on this site worked and the lock can be removed easily.

... However, you cannot do a folder/file at once. I have a lot of items on my desk, and more than half of them have these locks on them. How I removed the locks on all files and folders on my user account. There are only 2 accounts on the computer. Mine and another person. Mine is set to the administrator account, the other is just a standard user. I started by ignoring the locks for months, then I tried to get rid of them by myself, and frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing. Please, I beg you. If you know of a way, share it!

If the locks would not constitute an obstacle to operations, why bother?

And BTW, it; s no need AT ALL to run as an administrator on a daily basis in Windows 7. Forget everything THAT you have learned about XP - Win 7 is much more advanced.

You realize that the built-in Administyrator account is disabled by default, and if it is possible for him, that may be beyond what you're comfortable with?

Create another Admin account, call the Admin or Tech or similar and give it a password. Let this accouynt for the elevation of access and privilege of emergency and activate your account for daily use in a Standard user account. Your computer will be safer that way.

  • files and folders: How can I load all my files and folders to my new account of my external hard drive?

Who can help, I just put a new account on my computer and deleted the old account. I backed up the old files on my external hard drive. I want to know is how can I load all my files and folders to my new account of my external hard drive? I thank you for your time and knowledge have a very nice evening, Shawn

Because it's a new account (even if with the same name), the restore procedure is unable to put files and folders in the same place, they came (because this place technically no longer - if yes, then the process is done and the transfer is complete). It can create a set of separate files (maybe even under a new user name, if it has been stored in this way).  If so, all you need to do is copy the data as you would copy any other files and folders (not the main files of the user profile themselves but the data in them) on the new files in your user account and who will take care of the transfer. Here is more information about the restore procedure which may help you in the process.

Here is an article on the restore procedure:http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.  It also focuses primarily on the full backup process, but he did mention the full backup and restore process as well.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work):http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

I also found the following (but don't know if it of true or not):

    1. after the start of "backup and Restore Center."

    2. I chose "Advanced Restore"

    3. I was did not an administrator password... maybe because my account is an administrator account.

4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

    5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

    6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

    7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

    8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

    9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that thebackup location is not available " ")

    10. and you press "next".

    11 guess what... no error!

    12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

    13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

    14. so that the next time see a mistake, try to continue with him... ;)

I don't know if this will help, but it does not provide much information about the process (when it works).

    I hope this helps.

  • How to display the hidden files and folders even if I've already enabled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" to "Advanced settings"?

How to display the hidden files and folders even if I've already enabled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" to "Advanced settings"?

After I enabled "Show hidden files, folders and drives" in 'Advanced settings', I can't yet see in the folder but I know there is a file in this program of WinRAR folder form as pictured below where I opened the case both at the same time.

Hope you can help in this case...

It would be possible that the file is marked as a system folder (which is just a check box in properties such as the hidden check box). So in your folder options, uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files" and see if it will be visible.

Or another thing to try: remonter back a level, hold down SHIFT while you right-click the complete file and choose "Open command window here", then type DIR to see if the file is listed.
