How to replace the hard drive on the Satellite A100-301?

How to remove the old hard drive (deceased) and replace it with a new hard drive on the Satellite A100?

I don't see that there is a harddiskbay that is easily accessible.
Do I have to take off the whole backcover?

Hello!

On the bottom side of the laptop's HARD drive cover is fixed with a screw.
Remove the screw and cover, then you can exchange the HARD drive.

Good bye

I recently bought a HP Pavilion 17 model t M7H89AV with i7 processor. Oem hard drive is very slow and I want to upgrade to an SSD samsumg evo 850 500 GB. I'm looking at the bottom of the case and I don't see a special slot or the area to remove to replace the drive. There are no manuals for your model. Here is a youtube video showing access hard drive on a very similar model. It's in German but it moves slowly enough so that you can follow:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=uDAKRL86IjU

You can see the hard drive at about 07:45 in.

Take you top down, not the bottom. Technically, the hard drive is not extensible part of the user and security is at risk if you open it. But HP said it's OK to upgrade to an SSD as long as you don't damage in the process. If you do, you're on your own.

  • Can I replace the hard drive of my Satellite A100?

I have a Satellite A100 - 033 PSAANE, running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. The hard drive is 60 g. I save almost all of my data to an external hard drive, but nevertheless hard drive eventually won't have enough space for the growing number of programs that I have installed various temporary files, etc.. For example, I would like to install VirtualBox and run XP (Ido have a copy), and Linux and perhaps a few other systems operating within it, but that is likely to consume more of hard drive space I have available.

Anyone know if it is possible to get out of my existing hard drive and replace it with another of higher capacity? Is this possible?

I need to reinstall Vista on the new disc, from the emergency disk that came with the PC. I don't mind this, but will be Windows Vista "recognized" when I try to install the new hard disk?

Sorry if these questions seem naïve, but I don't know how to put a new hard drive in a laptop computer, or even if it is possible. I bought the Toshiba in February 2007, which was just after Vista had been released. I had not given the choice of XP: Vista was the only Toshiba operating system provide at this time. I was assured that a 60G hard drive would be perfect for Vista, but I have to tell you that, in my opinion, that I was wrongly advised, and that Toshiba should never have released a 60G machine for use with Vista. Where my wish to have a hard drive with a larger capacity.

Yes, you can install a larger capacity HARD drive. In my view, the A100 can take any size SATA 2.5 "HDD, so you should be able to successfully install a 250 GB or 320 GB.

In terms of Windows, you can reinstall using the Toshiba Recovery disk came with the laptop.

    Directions for use:

Remove the screws from the cover of the HARD drive based on the laptop to access the HARD disk.
    Pull the HARD drive out
Transfer media cradle of HARD drive to the new HARD disk
Slide in the new HARD drive and screw the cover of the HARD drive.
Turn on the laptop and press F12 to access the start menu.
Insert your recovery disk and choose CD icon to boot from it.
Follow the prompts to install Windows.
Connect your original HDD to the A100 using a USB adapter to restore your files/documents.

PS. Don't forget to back up your important files regularly. HARD drives can fail at any time, since they have delicate moving parts, even when new.

My hard drive in my Envy 17-j013cl is dead, so I found a good portable HDD replace - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236561 & cm_re = wd_laptop_hard_drive-_-22-236-...

I need to know if it is compatible with my computer. Also, how can I keep my copy of Windows 10 that was on the computer before he died?

This hard drive should work fine. If you previously updated and activated Windows 10, you can use the tool offered by Microsoft to create a dvd Win 10. Just be sure to choose ignore when he asks for a license key. Your hardware must be saved on the servers of MS and will activate automatically.

Download the tool here and make your dvd. Read also the instructions at the bottom of the page on operation of a new facility.

Since the disk HARD in the computer is connected to a special connector, Don t you need not worry. Simply, enter it gently and swap the drives, nothing great will happen.

Just trust yourself and shoot the thing, it will go with just a little resistance, but he died.

  • How to replace a HARD drive on satellite Pro L350-16 has

    Hi all
I have a satellite pro L350-16 has with a 160 GB drive HARD by running a Vista 32 bit operating system. I would like to change it to 500 GB.
What should I do if I want to keep all the configurations that I have in the 160 GB of HARD drive.
    Thank you.

    Hello

    > What should I do if I want to keep all the configurations that I in the 160 GB HARD drive

If I understand correctly, you want Vista 32 bit with all the configuration to 500 GB hdd? You can use a program called Acronis True image to a hard drive image backup and move it to another hard drive, then. Note that this program is not free, and you must activate it for use.

I was hoping that I could use the recovery disc (USB key) to install 8 Windows on the new drive.

Is it possible to install Windows 8 new hard disk?

You must download the iso file of windows 8.1, burn to disk and boot the disk and do a custom installation. Recovery discs do not work on a new empty hard drive. Instructions and download here-

  • How to set the Satellite A100-596 to factory without Recovery DVD settings

I gave my young niece of my old laptop A100-596 for Christmas.
It worked perfectly on Christmas Eve I packed it upward, in packing of origin, but at the time my niece connected on it has lost 40 GB of data among the drives C and E - everything E drive and the dvd drive had stopped working!

Now, no one has any explanation for what is happening, nor any reason why a laptop that has performed flawlessly for 18 months would suddenly lose 3/4 of the data on it, but whatever!

So now I want to restore it to factory, but without a job settings dvd, how? I have all disks involved in perfect condition!
In addition, I want to fool proof so it can be retrieved in case the person or nothing damaged, this time he cannot repeat the action.

So I think that if I partition the hard drive so that the recovery of files is accessible by me with a password, which I will NOT share with any of the children, if they bumble once again, then I will be able to recover.

Moreover, even restoring the system files have disappeared, so I can't even it roll back to a working condition!

    Any advice?

    Hello

You wrote so much and I think it's the best we descuss all questions slowly.

I don't know what you mean under non-working DVDs. Is the drive defective optical drive or media DVD is not readable?

Anyway, the fact is that if you want to have the factory again settings you must install operating system using Toshiba DVD recovery. If you don't have it you can do clean OS installation using the Microsoft DVD facilities. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities are available on the Toshiba support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page > support & downloads.

When you use recovery media Toshiba HARD whole disc will be erased. Absolutely everything. All data and partitions.
What you want to do with recovering data unfortunately will not work. You cannot copy the recovery image and start it from the other partitions. Not on Satellite A100.

On new A300, something like this is possible because the recovery image is stored on the second partition in folder HDDRecovery.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

  • How to recover the Satellite A100 without recovery disk

    Hi all

I'm trying to restore my laptop A100 settings * without * a restore CD via pressing a sequence of buttons during startup (which must launch the recovery on the hard drive partition).

It is really unfortunate, I know it can be done as I did before butI for the life of me forgotten what was this key sequence I can't find the article I stumbled initially on!

I've scoured the web looking for this key sequence and all the proposed solutions, I fell on do not seem to work.

    Unsuccessful attempts so far:
    -Press and hold 0 power
    -various suggest 'F' keys: F1, F8, F10
    -now the delete key

Note: I guess it may be worth mentioning that pressing F8 actually take me on-screen "start options advanced windows" but I don't have any recovery options.

Yeh Yes, I'd * extremely * grateful if someone could point me in the right direction here because it makes me crazy... the fact that I've done this before, it that much worse!

As I know the A100 series has not been fitted with the recovery of HARD drive partition!
And so I doubt that any combination of keys will start the partition recovery!

So you only chance to recover the laptop is to take the recovery disk, then boot from it.
You can also try to install the disk Microsoft Windows operating system and then could install the drivers of Toshiba on the pilot site of Toshiba!

    See you soon

Ilay is right; recovery for A100 disk can be more pronounced due to the age of s for laptop.
