  Choose the flash drive, and then click RESTORE.

  Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

  If you contact HP Business support, they may be able to file a custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

  I assume you are using the Vista operating system.
  In order to reset the password, you will need a password reset disk

  Here's a nice description of how to create a password reset disk:

  But note; the password reset disk can be created if you would be able to connect to Windows Vista.
