How to restore my factory settings keyboard? (some keys not working only not on the new unit)

I bought a HP dv6 - 6167cl last night the Club of Sam and I like the laptop, but for some reason, the right shift - (shift more long 'Break' and 'Shift' written on the key) does not work. I am trying to determine if it is a problem of driver or system configuration, or if I need to exchange the computer to another. It may even be a user error - is there some kind of thing to use the shift key? (function toggle or something)

Try to back up your personal files and perform a recovery that would put the laptop to a factory State. Instructions can be found below

  • How to restore partition factory settings after installing Win 7 Professional and after having lost everything as a result.

I have a netbook with a partition that has win7 starter installed.  I unfortunately poorly installed windows 7 Professional and now have nothing available which was originally on the computer.  Everything was wiped clean including my ability to use / access my wireless, ethernet controller, pci, etc..  I tried repeatedly to recover the partition back to factory settings, but it won't give me the option to select the partition.  I guess that's because they are all two Windows 7.  Can you help me get it back to windows 7 edition starter of the partition so I can restore all the factory settings and programs.  I haven't lost any information or files that I loaded win7professtional as soon as I turned it on.  I have restore points, images, etc.

When I installed Win 7 Professional, not old Info windows.old file but I don't know how to access that is.

    Help, please?  Thank you

The Windows.old folder has two objectives:
    (1) can be used to uninstall Windows 7 and return your PC to the previous version of Windows.
    (2) contains a backup of all your files of data, documents, photos, Etc. from the previous version of Windows.

If you don't need either of these two options can delete the Windows.old folder. In your case if you can access the "recovery Partition" to restore the windows and then back the Windows.old folder before you begin.

Note: Option to change Windows Explorer to see the Windows.old folder:
Click on start and enter in the box "Search": "hidden" (without the quotes)
Click on the "Show the hidden files and folders" option at the top of the list.
    In the "Folder Options" window
Click the 'view' if it is not already selected.
In the list "Advanced settings" locate "hidden files and folders".
Now click 'show files and folders '.
    Then, disable the following:
"Hide empty drives in the computer folder.
"Hide the extensions of the file types that you want to know."
    "Hide protected operating system files"

Click on the "Apply" button and the OK"" button.

  • How to restore to factory settings?

    Hello

I need to restore the phone to factory settings which is Windows Vista, but all I have is the disk that came with the laptop that says recovery product for windows xp.
The backup system is disabled and the system restore did not resolve the issue.

Can someone tell me how to go back to the default settings with vista?

Can you please tell us which model of laptop you have exactly? I presume that the Vista recovery image is saved on the HARD drive. Usually, it is saved on the second partition in folder HDDRecovery.

    Please check this box.

  • Pavilion 15-b142dx keyboard some keys not working not

A friend gave me their 15-b142dx sleekbook Pavilion, apparently AFTER they spill some type of liquid inside. I was able to start the computer, however, there is still a problem with the keyboard.  When the keyboard is installed in the laptop, several of the keys do not work. However, when I go out (and hang with some plastics) it works fine.  I disconnected the ribbon cable and took little alcohol to clean the area. I was also able to run HP diagnostics on the startup, short and long versions and they come back ok.  In addition, I connected an external keyboard and it worked fine. I searched the forum for this type of question and do not see. If someone has had this problem, or I'm looking to replace the keyboard?

I am currently running windows 8.1. I don't get any error messages, but I noticed that HP does not have a litmus test of keyboard in his diagnoses.

    Hi there @MrKen99

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that some of your keys do not work, after that little liquid has decided to make an unwanted visit to the Board of Directors. I'm happy to help you with this.

In my sordid past that I've seen some really messed up keyboards, due to things like, coffee, cola, water, whatever. My most memorable was someone who gave me a computer that has been used in a kitchen and was close to a deep Fryer, and the keyboard was not only covered with oil and fat, but a generation of fuzzy dust throughout the keyboard upwards. In this case, I have recommended a replacement as the cost to clean it was more expensive than a new one.

In any case, it sounds as if you have already tried to clean it up, but if you do not jump off the keys to delinquency / inactive, the contacts could be "sticky". Make a note of the keys that are the problem and treat them individually. This document shows how to remove and replace the keys on a standard notebook keyboard.

Computer keyboard laptop troubleshooting (Windows 8)

If you don't have any success doing this then I would look at the keyboard, or by using an external keyboard replacement. If you choose a replacement you can check the service manual for it, and it will give a list the items supported.

  • Equium A210-17I - how to restore to factory settings?

I want to restore my system to the factory systems but I don't have a disc. So how do we do it without having a?

If you didn t get recovery disk your laptop probably shipped with HDD recovery option and all the info on this you will find in the document s user manuals. To be honest I m wondering you didn t pick up some info on cell phone you have.

In any case, try to run the recovery procedure of HARD drive following the instructions in http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

If this does not work, you have a big problem. Please inform us if HDD recovery works or not.

    Hello

305 X seems to be equipped with HARD drive recovery option and so it was not shipped with the recovery DVD.
But I have an opportunity to create this disc. If you had read the user manual (Chapter 1 HDD recovery Utilities) you will find the info how to create this diskette.

    _It said: _
    1) click Start, all programs, Toshiba, recovery, then Recovery Disc Creator.
    (2) select DVD (to create a recovery on DVD media).
    (3) select the items to copy by clicking on the check box beside files recovery point s name, applications (applications and drivers delivered original), or the recovery of files and applications.
    (4) click on create.
    (5) Insert the first blank DVD into your writable optical drive when you are prompted.
    (6) follow the prompts on the screen to complete the copy process.

To retrieve your hard drive using the utilities stored on your computer s HARD drive:
    (1) make sure that the computer is turned off.
    (2) press on and hold the value 0 (zero) key on your keyboard all turn on/off the computer.

  • Laptop keyboard - some keys not working not

    Hello.

I have an acer aspire 3750z (a few years) works on Windows 7. Unfortunately, some of the keys on the keyboard do not work and - oddly enough - when I connected an external keyboard in the same ones did not either use. The others are fine and I can use the keyboard to the screen when I load it up.

I've got either no update of windows due and none of acer. No other problem as far as I know and otherwise good performance.

    Hello

    1. what happens when you start the computer in safe mode?

    2. are you aware of changes to the computer before the show?

You can check if the device is recognized in Device Manager.

    To check:

    1. go to start and type Device Manager.
    2. Select Device Manager in the control panel list.

You can also check in The DirectX tool of diagnosis and see if the device works properly

    1. go to start > run
    2. type dxdiag in the race field.
    3. navigate to the tab entry.

Run the troubleshooter of material and check.

  • How can I restore to factory settings?

I've done it before, and I vaguely remember having to hit one of the keys "F #" at the start of the computer, but I don't remember when or which key to hit. If there is another, easier way to please me say, but I give this computer to my brother and restore it would be the best way to ensure that nothing of mine is here and no problem with him rest of what I could do about it. I really need this answer in the coming days so faster the the best answer. Thanks in advance to one that helps me to solve this problem (easy I guess) problem I have. Oh I'm not sure if it's important, but I use a Dell computer, computer, if I forgot to include any information you may need (Windows Vista on a Dell laptop) just told me.

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Dell recovery options:
    And that way if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Restoring to factory settings formats the disc, and which erases
everything what he. You probably get something new, but you can
try to do a search on the web for a recovery program that unformats the reader
    like here: http://www.easeus.com/resource/unformat.htm

If you unformat the drive successfully and can recover lost files
back, the first thing you should do copy on an external
(CD, DVD, USB sticks, external hard drives, etc.).
    Two other points/questions:

    1. why restore you to the factory settings? This is usually the worst
approach to solve a problem, there's a lot of extra long hard
work and often leads to problems of its own (as it did here).

    2. I assume you have no backup on external media from your
photos of important files etc. In this case. you played with
the fire. You can read this article on the backup that I wrote:

  • How to restore factory settings when Windows does not load?

I'm recovering from the laptop (Dell Inspiron N5010) friend who has been infected with a malware ransom (ICE Cyber Crime Center Backdoor.Win32.ZAccess.erds). I used the Kapersky rescue disc to remove the virus from the ransom but now Windows will not load and I suspect that the MBR has been affected.  At startup, the Dell logo appears and the window loading appears briefly, but then you have the 'blue screen of death' flashes and the cycle repeats.   The bsod error is:

A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO AVOID DAMAGE

    ON YOUR COMPUTER

IF THIS THE FIRST TIME YOU ' VE SEEN THIS STOP ERROR SCREE.

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. IF THIS SCREEN APPEARS AGAIN, FOLLOW

    THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

CHECK FOR VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER. REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED

HARD DRIVES OR HARD DRIVE CONTROLLERS. CHECK THE HARD DRIVE

TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS CORRECTLY CONFIGURED AND COMPLETED.

RUN CHKDISK /F TO CHECK FOR HARD DRIVE CORRUPTION, AND THEN RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.

    STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

The F2 and F12 keys work, but the F8 key will not open the "Advanced Boot Options", so I can't to the "Restore Dell DataSafe and emergency Backup" or any other advanced option.  System Restore will not work either.

I ran chkdsk and sfc hard disk (via the Kapersky Rescue disk) and neither solved the problem.  Then I copied its data on the hard drive.

I would like to restore the laptop to factory settings (assuming that it would be better to reinstall Windows because the drivers Dell would be included already?).   There is a folder on the hard disk called "emergency" and contains a Backup*.exe file and several Backup*.dsb files.

Is given this scenario, possible to restore to factory settings?  Or am I forced to reinstall Windows from scratch?

    What version of Windows?

7b error message indicates the operation SATA (SATA Mode) setting got changed in the BIOS Setup or possibly the hard drive may be roasted.

Restart, and then press F2 before Windows starts to load to open the BIOS Setup. Look for the option SATA or SATA Mode operation (models name it differently).  I don't see the BIOS screen options in the online manual, but the options for this parameter can be: RAID, AHCI or RAID Autodetect / ATA. Post back and we say exactly what options are available and how she got now.

If you are in the BIOS Setup, also find the Boot Sequence option and make sure that the internal hard drive is ranked first on the list. If it is not first, move it to all first, save the changes and exit the installation program. See if it boots now.

If you reinstall Windows by using a Windows Dell reinstall drive, you should not ask for the product key. It should install automatically by itself. HOWEVER, you will need to have the product keys for all the other apps that you want on this system, for example Microsoft Office, so make sure that you have the product keys and the floppies to install before you clean the hard drive.

  • You can cancel a restore to factory settings?

My wife was having problems with her laptop and decided (for whatever reason, I don't know) to restore it to factory settings. Is it possible to fix myself or should I take Geek Squad or some computer store. She lost all her school papers and photos she had saved on the top of the tower. All the tips? Please answer. Thanks in advance.

You can not cancel a resumption of process to factory settings.

If you have an installation clean back to factory settings, you normally wiped your hard drive clean during the process.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.
