How to reverse change how open .dll files?
How to reverse change how open .dll files? I changed accidentally, trying to open only ONE file, most of them to open with Microsoft Picture It! software and now some things do not load, and my USB ports are completely useless! Help. How to reverse this mess? OR should I simply delete all these and download replacements? A lot of new files that I downloaded automatically changes in Pic! icons, once that they finish downloading... - and I cannot restore, because he says that nothing has changed.
Thank you!

How open.vhd files?
I backed up my computer in the form of image on the file extension .vhd if I want to open it and my computer does not have the software to support this extension. is download for free if I can open the files. Help, please
The failure occurs while the. Disk file hard virtual created by Windows backup utility is mounted during the backup.
Reason: The. VHD file is created as a sparse file and it is not supported by the native VHD driver and editing where the .vhd file failed.
Solution: Add "strict allocate = yes" the smb.conf and restart samba.
For all those who are not sure if the created file is a "sparse file" or not, and the solution above does not solve the problem then
Run the netmon tool and send me the SBM traffic between two nodes when the failure occurred. The tool is available

Added items to randomly change after opening other files in a subfolder.
I have a file that is pinned on my Start menu that is attached to excel 2007. Now I can quickly open this file in excel when I want.
The location of this file is \\server\sharedarea\inout.xls
I have another file I want to pin to pin of excel area. This file is located in a subfolder of the original file.
The location of this new file is \\server\sharedarea\subfolder\anotherfile.xls
However when I opened the "anotherfile.xls" my pinned original file "inout.xls" has been replaced by "anotherfile.xls" and anotherfile.xls does not appear in my list of files recently viewed and or not "inout.xls".
In order to get the "inout.xls" file that is pinned in my pinned items I open it in excel and the pinned "anotherfile.xls" link is automatically crushed and changed in the pinned file 'inout.xls'. For this reason, I am not able to get both "inout.xls" and "anotherfile.xls", pinned to the excel menu area start due to this bug. Not appear in my list of recent files either.
I also have the same problem with task bar pinned items. If I open a folder or a file that is located in a subfolder of the original pinned item, windows, in his infinite wisdom, will replace my original pinned object, change to the new folder / file I open even if I don't want it (and 99% of the time I don't want it).
Someone from microsoft can fix pinned bugs points because it is certainly not just me that sees a massive amount of bugs in the added items. It's something I could code and get it right the first time. It would take probably more effort to get Windows to the elements of pinned randomly change he would to leave him alone.
I'm starting to think that the code of favorite items in Windows 7 needs a serious rewrite. So many bugs for something that really should not have problems, there!
Thank you for the lack of support on this issue.

What open DLL files in Windows 7
I have the DLL files that I can not open,
DLL is not personal (such as pictures, documents, music) data files that you can open. They are shared libraries/files that are used by programs and the Windows operating system without direct intervention of the user.
We recommend not to manually move or delete the DLL files as it may cause serious problems with Windows or your programs.

Here is an example of the properties of one of my .dll files: c:\windows\system32\microsoft.ManagementConsole.dll - file Type: unknown Application - opens with: unknown Application - (if I try to open it, it asks me to choose in my list, or search the Web for an application)
My problem is, I don't know what the hell I do! Laughing out loud. I don't even know now why I even noticed it. Anyway, I guess my question is 1) should I I even try to choose an application to open .dll files, or is it a security setting, so I won't be able to open the files that I have no business opening? (2) my properties should apply real knon, instead of saying we don't know? How do I find a list of file names that tell you what you should choose to open different applications or extensions?
I appreciate all help. I fear I can screw up my laptop and I'm on League when it comes to such things.
Thanks again for any useful information. :)
Michelle
What you see, it's normal. It is not possible for a user to directly open a .dll (Dynamic Link Library) file. The file contains functions that can use other programs, but it cannot open or run by itself.

I have an ica file of work I use to be able to open it on my computer, but now it will not open this file. Also when I put a dvd in the drive it will not work.
Hello SandraJones,
The .ica (independent computer architecture) file contains information about connections to the server. They can be opened by simply using Notepad.
Take a look at this tutorial: http://faster-pc.net/related/english/tutorial-how-open-ica-file/
Regarding your problem of DVD, what exactly is happenning when you insert the DVD. More information is really need for someone to help him with this problem. You are, for example, get error messages? If so, the message says.

How can I change the default program to open ZIP files?
original title: open .zip filesI changed the default mode of opening zip files somehow. My laptop now wants to use something other than the Windows Explorer to navigate to the zip files. I tried to "Browse" to Windows Explorer, but it will not find...
Zip files still show with compressed folder icon?
Try re-registering the DLL that controls how the Zip files are open. Click Start and in the search for field type
Regsvr32.exe /u zipfldr.dll
Press ENTER. Click Start, then in the type field search
Regsvr32.exe zipfldr.dll
Press ENTER. See if that fixes things.

How to change the view options when opening a file?
For some reason any in CS5 when I choose open default file to view "list" in Windows XP. I put my windows, so they all have the same point of view (detailed view) in the control panel. CS3 opens in view Details, but all programs in all of the default CS5 platform to the list view. Any thoughts on how to change this? Anyone else noticed this? Thank you!
Near as I can tell, after doing a bunch of research on the Internet, always default list view dialog box in Windows XP. Apparently the changes have been made to Vista to remember the last setting, but which does not apply to XP.
I couldn't find all the config settings or anywhere registry tweaks that would change the behavior of file open dialog to set up view details by default.
I, however, ran through a downloadable freeware utility called 'FileOpenPatcher' who patched the commdlg32.dll file in Windows XP ONLY , so you will see more columns of information by default in the Windows File-Open dialog boxes. I tested it with Photoshop Elements, I had installed on a Windows XP virtual machine. Apparently he sticks some values in the DLL to change values by default, and it seems to work on XP SP3.
http://www.NETCULT.ch/elmue/ElmueSoft-en.htm
It requires a reboot after installation.
Now, that's what I see after execution of FileOpenPatcher, when I choose file - open:

How to change or open a pdf file. Ext file using Photo Gallary
Hello
My download files are save in pdf. ext files. I'm unable to open these files using Windows Photo Gallery. I tried to modify the PDF. file to a jpeg file and it would allow me to change the file. So, how can I change all my download files that I can't open a file with a file position I can't open?
Thank you
I do not know if you are aware that the pdf files are normally open with Adobe Reader and intentionally try to use another application? If this isn't the case, if you download the free Adobe Reader application, you should be able to open PDFs just by double-clicking it. The following link has the free download (note - suggest you uncheck the "Yes - install McAfee Security Plan more - optional" before download): http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Windows opens the files by a simple click rather than double, how can I change this?
Window 7 file selection clicks
Windows 7 opens a file with a single click when I don't want to do, I want to just select the file for possible copy or other activity. How can I force to require a double-click to open the file as good old XP
If your on simple click to open, what you have to do is (dot) in the file.
Click to open, tap Select.
If you want to change this setting go to your libraries you are interested in, click on organize in the upper left corner, and select the folders and search options, general tab, change to double click, save.
