How to run windows 7 on the laptop already installed windows 8 from the same hard drive

Hello

I use a computer dell laptop with windows 8 OS. I want to install Windows 7 as another operating system on the same laptop. I got the image file on the hard disk in a different partition. I have not found any flash drive or dvd close to home. So, is it possible to make from the same laptop?
Thank you
Teja

You will need to put the contents of the ISO image of Windows 7 on a DVD/Flash drive file and start, but after that you can install it on the same hard drive.  You could take little space and divide your hard drive into multiple partitions and install on one of them, or you can create a virtual hard disk (VHD) file and install on that.

I wrote about the VHD method on my site back when Windows 8 came out first, but it works backwards too.

  • How boot Windows Vista from a USB hard drive that has a good backup Vista already on him.

Hi, initially, I thought I had a virus (blue screens that appear often), then I thought I had a corrupted driver or systems file. So, I had a 2 t USB external hard drive and saved ALL my internal hard drive.  After execution of all kinds of tests from my internal hard drive, it does NOT pass the diagnostic test and always stops in the same place on the internal hard drive.  It becomes harder and harder to start on my internal drive of 'C' without getting some kind of blue screen.  I'm sure that now it's my drive "C" which is declining and malfunction and I am convinced now to go forward and every time you start my existing backup Vista SP2 that I backed up on my disk 'K', or if I can, then do a new clean install of Vista 86 x (32 bit) on the disc 'K '.  My boot sequence is as follows: 1. Disc 2 DVD 3. External drive USB 'K' 4. Internal drive C (eventually when I get all fixed, I turn OFF my 'C' drive.)  When I boot my computer without my Vista disk, it bypasses the 'K' reader, because all the "loadup data" is located in a folder and are not exposed, or I don't have the files to "load" just in the right place.  When I look at the file config.sys and autoexec.bat copied, I see nothing in the files that would be "load" my existing Vista, instead he just goes right in front of the reader 'K' and on the 'C' drive and loaded a version own intalled my Vista (if I can avoid a blue screen, sometimes I have to load in "safe mode" and even) It doesn't work sometimes!)  My question is what the loadup files are needed and where on my 'K' drive (in system32?) to be able to restart my old copy of Vista which has all my existing configurations in place?  Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How to install a second operating system on a partition on the same hard drive under xp?

Hello!.. How can I install a second operating system on a partition on the same hard drive under xp?... Thanks in advance!

With the elders the older operating systems, in this case 98, has prior installation.

Is that of Vista as soon as it does not matter what operating system is installed first to do a dual boot.

With Vista, you can then install XP as the second installed the operating system in a dual boot.

But this isn't like you do is 98 or XP...

Could someone please recommend some course HP laptop model that can be used the same hard drive as G62-355DX use?

Even the hard drive can not put it in the bag laptop, but work with the HARD drive interface.

Or is there any external HARD disk enclosure can be used to read the data hard disk, the data does not have compreesed.

    Thank you in advance.

Hello! You need a new PC Yep!
But there are other ways to do

You can buy a SATA USB adapter that will allow you to plug in the HARD drive on another PC and the take-off data

NOW YOU CAN ONLY SAVE DATA FROM THE DISK IF THE HARD DRIVE IS NOT DEAD

    Good luck!

I have a card mother broken dell and I wonder if I change for a card mother Msi or Asus, but I always use the same hard drive that have my bones inside. I'll be able to use the operating system on my new motherboard?

    Original title: Windows 7

No, you will not be able to.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

I have an OEM of Windows 7 version, so when I buy a new motherboard I intend to buy another copy of Windows 7. What will happen if I use the same hard drive?

Depending on the options you choose during installation. If you start from the installation DVD, you can only do an install custom, which means that your applications and hardware drivers will have to be resettled.

  • You can move a project to another location on the same hard drive?

    Hello!

My project files in the htdocs of the Apache Server, however I recently had to install XAMPP and which meant a new copy of Apache placed in a different location on the same hard drive.     I would spend my projects in this same place.   Dreamweaver allows you to do this easily?

It is an ideal location for the test on my Apache server.

I could just move the files, but I don't know how Dreamweaver will react.

    Thanks for all your comments!

    ... John

    Absolutely,.

Just move them to your regular Windows Explorer or anything on a Mac. Then change your site definition to point to the new location.

  • Can I combine several old backups located on a portable hard drive in a backup on the same hard drive?

  • Run Windows 10 from an external SSD drive? Yes, it works!

That's what I did to make it work. The whole process takes about 45 minutes, but I think that it really is worth it if you want to run quick and clean Windows 10 on your iMac.

    What you need:

    • An SSD external - data is deleted
    • An iMac 27 "(end of 2013 in my case)

Temporarily, for the installation, you will also need:

    • A computer with Windows 7, 8 or 10 to copy the correct files on the SSD drive and make it bootable
    • A computer running with OS X download BootCamp
    • A USB - data is erased

First, in Windows, you get a file ISO for Windows 10. You can use the media to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 authoring tool and choose to save it as ISO file (do not create a USB bootable media).

    1. Double-click on the. ISO file. This will mount the disk to install on a disk (in my case, the letter E).
    2. Connect the SSD drive to a free USB port
    3. Open an administrator command prompt and type:
      1. DiskPart
      2. list disk (to identify your external SSD drive number)
      3. select disk 2 (or another number to your external SSD drive, make sure you do not erase your internal drive, usually on 0).
      4. clean - be careful, if you have selected the wrong disc, erase all the data on it
      5. create part pri
      6. Quick format
      7. assign letter = O (or another letter if already used)
      8. assets
      9. output
      10. DISM/apply-image /imagefile:"E:\sources\install.esd" / index: 1 /ApplyDir:Y:------(change E to another letter for the ISO file mounted)
      11. BCDBOOT. EXE Y:\WINDOWS/s Y:/f BIOS (so that the boot in the BIOS only drive (not EFI))
      12. output
      13. Eject all disks properly or simply shut down your PC.

Then on your Mac, open the wizard BootCamp (click on Launchpad and type "bootcamp" to find) and check ONLY "download the latest software of Apple's Windows support. Save it on your USB thumb drive. Stop your iMac. Remove the USB key and keep it in your hand.

Turn on your iMac by pressing the option (alt) key. You will see an orange icon with Windows. Select this option and wait until you see 'Getting ready devices', wait a little longer until you hear the startup chime and press the option (alt) key to make sure that start you on the external hard drive. That's all!

Now you have a copy of Windows from your external USB drive. You just need to install the BootCamp drivers on your USB (\Bootcamp\Setup.exe). Reset.

Oh, you have 10 Windows running natively on your beautiful iMac.

    Enjoy!

The answer is in the response. I don't know how to post a tip!

  • G570 - How to reinstall Windows 7 after replacing a hard drive that crashed?

    Hi all

I have a Lenovo G 570 and was very happy with it. Unfortunately, I had a hard drive crash (totally my bad, I dropped the laptop on the floor).

In any case I had to change my drive hard because I got this message: "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key any." I have always this message with the new hard drive which makes sense since I have to reinstall Windows 7, but the problem is that I don't have a sticker with the product key

Does this mean that the Windows product key is in the Bios? How can I get? Contact Lenovo to get a new product key and pay for it?

A big thank you to the person who will be able to help me with this, can not wait to start to use my Lenovo again.

  • Can I still use Windows on a new computer, but the same hard drive?

I tried to throw my old hard drive to a new computer, the hardware change is so great that it does not start, so I'll do a reinstall of windows on the drive hard when I put in, but I would like to know if the product key that I use now, which was supplied with the computer Inspiron 531 still works on the same hard disk, just different components.

    N ° it won't work.

  • How can I backup all my personal stuff to install my system on a new hard drive without losing all my saved information and contacts?

I have a HDD making noise and I would like to back up my files and folders, windows mail / my email and contacts so that I can install my system on a new hard drive without losing all my saved information and contacts

backup what option allows me to record the information of e-mail, my files and folders, settings of the computer basically everything but the system itself.

I have a full factory CD/CD that includes an image of windows vista (hp system recovery discs) but that does not include my email info or the files and folders to restore

or is it better to centre commercial simple backup windows separately and how can I do this?

I don't want to lose my contacts and my email saved during the backup process.

I understand the hardware drivers and additional programs will need to be reinstalled and I have all my disks associated with the addition of software/hardware.

  • How can I install Linux (Ubuntu or Kubuntu) and Windows on the same HARD drive?

    Hello world

I have Toshiba L20-148 and I have the Toshiba product recovery DVD and I have the DVD Ubuntu

I'm only able to install Linux or Windows XP Pro I have with the recovery DVD

and the only way I know to install both together by installing linux and windows... but every time I try to install windows, then factory data recovery, it is just the whole HARD disk and install windows only...

    any help?

    Hello

As mentioned that the Toshiba Recovery CD contains image and files during the installation of the OS on the HARD drive or the partition will be formatted. In this case all data will be deleted.
Therefore, you must create a second partition for the use of Linux. But be careful. Linux uses the special file format. Partition Magic 8 contains and supported the creation of the Linux partitions.

So if the new partition has been created, you can install the Linux
