How to save bookmarks automatically to "menu bookmarks" instead of "unsorted bookmarks" by Firefox?
When I click on the star to bookmark a Web page, it goes to "Unsorted Bookmarks", so I have to manually move in "Menu Boomarks", which is annoying. Is there a way to set a default folder?
No, it isn't, but you can double click on the star to get the dialog box where you can select a folder for the new bookmark.

How to save bookmarks (links, pointers or other) to the sections "Windows Help and Support?
For example, I found a help topic in the 'advanced tips for searching in Windows' help, I use quite often.
I would like to record a "binding" on this issue, instead of going through all the steps
1. open "help and Support" >
2. search for "search" >
3. "Find a file or folder" >
4scroll...... do scroll down... scroll down >
5. find in the 'Advanced Tips for searching in Windows' option text >
6. click on it >
7...... scroll do scroll down... scroll down >
8. find the section "using keywords to refine a search.
Any help that will reduce the list above would be greatly appreciated.
Your first message assumes that you want to save a link to a Web site for the help page that you are viewing locally.
But your second post assumes that you want to display this page locally (on a plane) without an internet connection?
1. If you want to save the help page on site that can be considered in offline mode, perform the following steps.
a. go to Start/Help and Support. Enter your search term (Advanced Tips for searching in Windows).
b. when the page you want to save appears, right-click the page and select View Source. The page opens in Notepad, view HTML content.
c. click on file/save as. Name the file and give it an extension of .htm file. For example: File Search.htm Advanced and save it to the desktop.
This file can be opened locally without an internet connection.
2. If you want to create a bookmark to the same information online, use the Help and Support Online. Go to this site: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features
a. Enter your search term in the box at the top of the page and press enter (example: Search)
b. in the drop down menu to change the filter , select Windows 7 (detected) and click the OK button.
c. in the results, click on the link for the information you want. On the resulting web page, right click and select create shortcut or Add to Favorites.

The new version of firefox does not seem to be the ability to save bookmarks to a file. The instructions provided in support seem to be applicable to older versions. I saved favorites to a file several times before in earlier versions.
Thank you. I did not in the menu, but with the cursor over the bookmark logo, it is said to show your Favorites (Ctrl, shift, O) and which will get me there.
Since this morning my firefox does not start because of a unreadable application.ini (no clue what is the reason for this)
I have no problem with simply deleting and reinstalling firefox, but I want to save my favorites before that.
so, is it possible to extract from my bookmarks on firefox without starting it? they must be in the files in my folder of mozilla, but where?
So, you're saying that following the steps described in this section of the article does not show your profile folder?
Your profile folder is usually in a hidden folder. This could be one of the reasons why you are not able to find it. Please change your windows settings to display the hidden files and folders (see here for instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Show-hidden-files).
After you change this setting, find your profile folder as described in the article I linked at the earliest. If you can still find not, look for places.sqlite all hard drive (C:, D:, etc.). If you find this file, copy it to somewhere safe. This file contains your bookmarks and history items.
Let us know how it works for you.
How to import bookmarks from Win7 to my firefox OSX?
Firefox supports two different Exchange formats:
- 'Backup' - fuller (like canned food tags) - JSON format once restored, replaces all existing bookmarks in the browser
- 'Export' - compatible with other browsers - HTML format when they are imported, is added to any existing bookmarks in the browser
Check out these articles and see if you can get the bookmarks when you need:
- Restore backup bookmarks or move them to another computer
- Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks
- Importing bookmarks from an HTML file
To physically move the bookmarks file, you can use:
- removable media such as a USB Flash drive
- storage cloud, for example, Dropbox, or an attachment to an email to yourself
Finally, you could consider implementation service of Firefox sync if you want to keep the two Firefoxes synchronized. It is not necessary for a one-time transfer.
Synchronized chrome. I'm not everyone. I would like to start over with bookmarks in Firefox.
You can remove bookmarks by pressing long on them in the bookmarks view. https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/get-started-Firefox-Android#w_use-the-awesome-screen-to-quickly-find-what-you-need
If you are ready to reset Firefox completely (reset bookmarks, history, passwords and other data) this can be done simply uninstall Firefox and reinstall Firefox from the game store.
Bookmarks > show all bookmarks-> import and backup - Export HTML... - on the USB
Just install 9.01 and look for the option to display bookmarks in a sidebar. Doesn't seem to be an option in the drop down menus from the top left "Firefox" with arrow.
I have it working on an earlier version on a different system.
Try hitting ctrl + b to bring up the bookmarks bar. Pressing Alt to display the older items in menu bar temporarily. You also learned to Firefox > Options > Menu bar to give Firefox a more familiar feel. Then you can access the sidebar in the bookmarks menu.
Also take a glance section of the Knowledge Base controls, buttons, and Toolbars Customize Firefox to see how you can add the button to the Quick Access toolbar.
Hope this helps!
I was running firefox on your desktop. The hard drive became unusable as the main drive, either because of a software installation which has left the operating system unstable or malicious software or both. The hard drive has been cleaned of malware, but has been replaced by a new hard disk that has a new installation of firefox. Operating has been and is Windows XP. The old hard disk which is now F:\ is still in the computer. There are lots and lots of bookmarks on F; \... Firefox I need to import the Firefox on C:\. In my opinion, these are the .json files. Can I copy and paste or import bookmarks?
I am running Firefox 5 with no further questions, on a 32-bit Windows 7 laptop. I want to copy my favorites on my laptop to work using Chrome, but I can't find the command "export" in the 5!
View all bookmarks replaces organize bookmarks and has same shortcut key ('Ctrl + Shift + B")
then "import and backup" then "export HTML code.
All my old favorites are there, but I'm unable to record new ones.
Please try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- Click the menu button
then select restart with disabled modules.
If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:
- On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
- On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.
In addition, you have several versions of Flash available for Firefox.
Shockwave Flash 19.0 r0
Shockwave Flash 11.3 r300

Please show me how save/backup bookmarks in Firefox 5.01?
(1) on the file menu, there is only the option "Import", but no "Export" option for me to export or save my favorites.
(2) on the Favorites menu, there is no tab 'Manage a bookmark' as online help available.
If you press Ctrl-Shift-B to open the Bookmarks Manager, there is a tab import and backup has a backup and Export HTML option
