  I do not know why you can not install the printer software and driver on your computer. I now have a ready 7640 Envy (identical to your craving 7645, even software and driver) in front of me. I have ben the test using 3 different routers, more than a dozen of Windows machines, phones Samsung, Samsung tablets, tablets from HP, iPhone, iPad, Windows phones. I can't test one thing: Apple Mac machines because I have not I don't have any plan to buy one.

  Requirements: Windows computer and a printer that supports scanning to E-mail, an E-mail address and a local email client.

  Windows 7 includes Windows Live Mail, and while you can create your own Live account you can also add your own alternative e-mail address. To locate Windows Live Mail, you can just do a search in the start menu as shown below.

  

  To add your Email account go to the tab accounts. Click on the @+ button. Enter your email address and password, and then click OK.

  

  Through the icon of the printer on the desktop select shares of Scanner and then scan a Document or Photo. In the next window select the Document to be sent. You can change your options such as IPR and color scanning right.

  By default, Webscan is disabled on 7640 envy. You must activate it:

  To allow Webscan
  1. open the built-in web server. For more information, see open the built-in Web server
  on page 91.
  2. click on the settings tab.
  3. in the Security section, click on settings of the administrator.
  4. Select Webscan to activate Webscan.
  5. click on apply and then click OK.

  now on page 91:

  To open the embedded using a WiFi Direct Web server
  1. from the home screen, touch (wireless) and then press (settings).
  2. If the display shows that a Wi - Fi Direct connection is off, tap Wi - Fi Direct, and then turn it on.
  3. from your computer wireless turn wireless, to search and connect on behalf of a Wi - Fi Direct connection.

  Thank you for using the HP Forums.

  Scan of the computer means "scan a document and send it to my computer.

  You will need to install the FULL features software and activate it before you can use.

  How to scan to computer

  Once you have installed the software:

  1. click the printer (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP printer Assistant.
  2. in the menu analyze, there is a 'manage Scan to Computer', click on that.
  3 make sure you have "Enable" Scan of the computer. Also, make sure that the tab "automatically start Scan of the computer when I connect Windows" is checked if you want to perpetuate this feature. (the following video will show you how)
