How to Setup Data Guard with alter tablespace... begin backup approach

Hello!

I am writing this compilation of documents in a guard daata establishing in 10g. I was in charge to present different approaches in implementing on Rhel 5.

I came across 3 procedures (which is to duplicate a database with RMAN, then configure it to a Data Guard feature). I read a process using (let's this is what the article said, but procedure was presented):

alter tablespace... .begin backup;
alter tablespace... .end backup;

then copy the generated files and configure it to the data protection feature.

Someone help it with that? Is there like a blogsite or steps I can take for this scenario?

Hello;

The best I found was: (and its same 10 Oracle! and not RMAN.)

http://sites.Google.com/site/catchdba/physical-standby-database-using-HOTBackup

There, an old link here on this topic:

DataGuard configuration using hot backup files

Hard to find much on this topic as "Hot Backup" almost always comes to RMAN.

This collection of notes can also help:

DataGuard knowledge browser Product Page [ID 267955.1]

And the "Formidable" Powerpoint:

www.dbspecialists.com/files/presentations/standbydb.ppt

Seems that this method is dead somewhere between Oracle 8 and Oracle 9

  • ALTER TABLESPACE BEGIN BACKUP MODE

    Hi all
    When we issue alter tablespace begin backup command then freezes the data file headers and all modified blocks will be written to streams and when we issue end backup command then the database will write the blocks changed to data files by accessing files redo.
    my doubt is suppose archiver process archive redo files and all redo files are overwritten. now how the database will write the changed blocks to restore and database dealing with this task.

    TIA

    "Hot backup" is obsolete with 10g or more recent technology as Rman covers this much better.
    Please switch to RMAN at your early convenience.

    Also, as the database must be in archivelog backup online, it is not a problem, that the online redo log files are overwritten, like recovery will use two online redolog files and archived.
    Your question doesn't make sense to me.
    Redo are written in files LGWR, ARCH Archive files. Changes are written to the database by DBWR. All who are independent processes, and the changes are written to redo front to be written to the database.

  • How to use Data Guard with E-Business Suite

    Hello

    I'm trying to get my head around how would you use Data Guard with E - Business Suite.

    I know that you can use only physical standby with EBS, however I have a few basic questions about specific values < SETTING > and how they are treated by a standby.

    Given that the standby and primary servers will have different host names and that generally there are < FRAME > specific values that include the hostname, where they will have to change on the standby server, both from the point of view of the battery backup Apps and within the standby database itself, I wondered how it would happen.

    Usually, EBS cloning process would change the < FRAME > target settings in the target apps stack and the target database (for example, parameters such as FND_NODES etc.).

    Q1. However I do not know how the process of cloning E - Biz would fit with a database of the day before?

    Q2. As the standby database won't even be in an open State, I don't know yet how you would apply a party any of the cloning process to a database of pending to the target?

    Q3. Even if you were able to change on the eve of the database to reflect the < FRAME > from backup server, it would mean surely it was more a physical copy of the primary database, that's why it would be more a day before.

    All a bit confusing - any clarification appreciated

  • Oracle Data Guard with EBS R12

    Dear gurus,

    I want to know about Oracle Data Guard with Oracle EBS Release 12, claims we separate license with Oracle E-Business Suite R12 of application Data Guard? (i.e. separate premises, same place).

    Please me advice in this regard.

    AFAIK, you don't need to have a separate license for Data Guard. However, I would say that you call your Oracle representative.

  • How to open .dat WP51 with Vista?

    I have Windows Vista, and it should be up to date.

    I need to access two WP51 documents that were sent to me.  We got a .dat extension, and the other has an extension .read.

    I was prompted to "set associations...". "but when I went to the appropriate place to do this, nor read extensions or .dat generated on the long list of extensions on the page"associate a file type... ". ».

    It is essential that I have access to these documents.  I can't find anything when I googled "How to open .dat wp51" (except odd links to pages of pirate...)

    If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.  Please keep your instructions as lay people as possible.

    Hi AnnieElle,

    Looks like there are two parts to your question:

    (1) open a file read:

    Just to clarify, you have tried to open the file read extension in a text file? (Opening the .dat file perfect word would fail to open as a .txt file)

    (2) open a WordPerfect file with .dat extension:

    Basically, the idea would be to open the file in WordPerfect or open it in a word perfect reader. It would be really better to know which version of this file may have been because they have different extensions depending on the version of Word Perfect.

    Reference (for more information on what file extension fit the WP version the .dat file came from):

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/WordPerfect

    How do you get the file to read at this point would be to change to the extension of the WP program it has been generated to go and then open the form in WordPerfect format or Word Perfect player. For example, to change the .dat by .wp extension and open it.

    If it does not, the file is of a type, we cannot recognize or likely unreadable or corrupted.

    Hope this helps,

  • Alter tablespace end backup

    Hey guys,.

    Just a small request:

    I have a 9i database hot backup is taken every day, now, when one of the tbspc is in backup mode, my server crashes (Windows)... and when the server is set up once again, my db is at the mount point (like the tbspz is always in backup mode)... now, when I request backup$ v It shows me that the file belonging to this tablespoons is in ACTIVE mode, so ideally what I do is Id o "alter backup end for the tbspz name", that takes my spoons soup out of backup mode and change the status of my file of data not ACTIVE... This is somethng I know and I saw... but I also learned to know when db is in Mount State of the file is ENABLED and I 'recover file data;'... .it retrieves my file and becomes the status of my data file no is NOT ACTIVE... no idea why and how this happens?

    Kind regards
    Aurélie

    Aurélie,

    Oracle claims recovery when it detects that the RCS in the header of the data file is lower than other database files. When you put a tablespace offline backup the header of the data files GET correspondents causing freezed in blocks broken inside the data file. When you exit the oracle of the backup mode thaws the header and retrieves the data files by applying redo data.

    Now if your system crashes, then the next time you start the oracle will ask for recovery of data files associated with the storage space, because header has been previously locked and SNA was not updated in the header. In the oracle recovery process thaws headers and apply redo data (unless the header is unfreezed THAT SCN cannot be updated, so the recovery process must thaw it).

    You can simulate this by putting one of the storage space to backup abort mode and stop (on the test ;)) environment

    Kind regards

  • HOW TO READ DATA SERIES WITH SYNCHRONIZATION

    I have a question about my application for the acquisition of data in series. In my application, I use visa read to acquire data series sent by an inertial measurement unit. When I first put the sensor, it sends data in the following one time format:

    1:0 x 8011 header followed 1 data word for Adler, 1 data word (each 16-bit word data).

    and the sensor then starts sending the data in the following format:

    2:0x7FFF header followed 1 data word for checksum, 9 data word (each 16-bit word data).

    (Note: checksum is defined as a 2s - complement of the sum of 16 bits of the rest of the entire message)

    In my application, to simplify the problem, I use a wait function to ensure that the initial data header 1 tag is sent. Then I start reading using VISA Read 20 bytes (header 2 more words of associated data are 20 bytes), as I'm mainly interested in the data header 2 tag words.

    However, when I do this, the data that I get do not begin by 7FFF character and, accordingly, my 20-byte data cannot be parsed correctly. My question is how can I do the "VISA read" block read the serial port when data are preceded by '7FFF '.  Once I have solve this part, my strategy will be assembled data read 20 bytes (including the header of 4 bytes) and analyzed accordingly.

    Another question, I wonder if you can tell me how to use the given checksum it is defined as "a s 2 - complement of the sum of 16 bits of the rest of the entire message". Note the data that contains the header 1 tag is 1 post.

    I would appreciate if you have responded to my request.

    Thank you!

    Serdar

  • Data Guard archive political deletion log

    Hi all

    I configured the data guard with 2 bases Eve in oracle 11g.

    I want to use rman to delete archives on all servers.

    I have configured no FRA, no recovery catalog.

    My question is:

    If I delete waiting til sequence # 1627 and on primary sequence til = # = 1620 or vice versa this would cause problems for Data Guard.

    I say delete until the different sequences # on primary and standby cause problems for synchronization?

    Thank you

    So if I understand delete archivelog to sysdate - or delete archivelog all completed before sysdate n is not the archivelog deletion policy you put on RMAN?

    She depends on it. The note was made at the base of the MOS document how ensure that RMAN is NOT delete archived logs that have not yet shipped to standby mode (Doc ID 394261.1)

    Delete archivelog to sysdate - depends on all of the deletion policy. If the deletion policy is set on "applied pending all", then it does not delete the archives, if they are not applied on the day before. If the deletion policy is set to none, then it does not check if the archive is applied on the eve and deletes them directly.

    Last Archive generated on primary:

    SYS@oraprim > select max(sequence#) from v$ archived_log;

    MAX(SEQUENCE#)

    --------------

    114

    Last check-in applied in mode ensures:

    SYS@orastb > select max(sequence#) from v$ archived_log in case of application = 'YES ';

    MAX(SEQUENCE#)

    --------------

    109

    Delete policy set to NONE on primary:

    RMAN > show archivelog deletion policy;
