  I replaced my processor, as described and on startup, I get the "1801 - Microcode Patch error...". "mssg telling me to 'contact' Compaq for a new ROM BIOS to take in charge the new stepping. I have to push 'F1' at startup, then it starts and runs significantly faster than before the upgrade. I found the BIOS upgrades to the HP site but I cannot know which is correct. I've tried a couple and nothing happened after downloading; How will I know which is the right one, how to throw, etc? Can damage my computer if I run that badly?

  I'm sure that a Pentium 4 processor 2.8/533/512 will work fine with your current configuration to 95%.

  Certainly better than celery.  I even think that the P4 2.4/533/512 would be better than celery 2.8.

  But go for the P4 2.8. They should be cheap and abundant.

  Just check you get one with the FSB 533 and 512 KB of L2, FSB 800 or 1 MB L2 cache cache, or it won't work.

  I changed the processor on my HP SFF 4000 (decommissioning the core 2 duo E7500 to a core 2 duo E6300, I need the E7500 in another computer) and I get this nasty 1801 - Microcode Patch error.

  I can't get into the bios, or do anything.

  I can press F1 to jump, then computers goes to windows but switches off the power in an emergency a minute later.

  I guess I can have Flash my bios, but if someone can lead me to detailed instructions and a download link to a bios that supports the E6300 for my SFF 4000, I would be really grateful!

  Get this message while trying to join a 6 ESXi host to a domain.  I see a lot of KB articles, advice, forum entries, etc. on how to solve specific problems, but is there a place recommended to start with the log files on the host computer that will give me the best information to get to one of these "specific problems"?

  Here is what may be the problem.  VMware support asked for newspapers similarly and ESXi, once again, so I went back to the article that explains how to configure logging for the same agent (1026554) to refresh my memory on getting set up.  What I found was that the article had been updated this week (02/06/15).  Under section 6.0 ESXi, it seems that there is now a new step that says "start the lwsmd service by running this command:

  /etc/init.d/lwsmd start

  I can never remember this action before when I went through this process, but, after the start-up of this demon, I could join all the areas he had not previously on.  (Or it seems that the daemon has not been started messages that I got when I ran the command).  If this condition of service could be a known problem that must be corrected in a future update, where the service should be configured to run at startup, or to start and stay on every time that a domain join is requested.

  In addition, there is another article that says that you must set this service starts automatically using

  chkconfig lwsmd on

  who could have the root cause of why it wouldn't start whenever I rebooted the host.  Being that this is a very low level of service, I would have not had any idea whether or not it was executed.

  I recently purchased a DVD - ROM drive to put my optical drive Sat Pro 4290 a CD in DVD - ROM. As suspects, I am the problem if the drive is not recognized and get error IDE #1.

  I can get windows XP to recognize the disk by deleting the secondary IDE channel in the material and then look up the new material again. Then installs the IDE channel and then detects and installs the DVD-ROM and works very well. I restart the computer laptop and back to square one!

  I understand that it is something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.

  I don't want to risk it and I was wondering if anyone finds an easier way to do it?

  Set to true if not 100%. This isn't a matter of adjustment on the motherboard, but the setting of the CD/DVD drive.
  The Player supports different master\slave\c-salt settings and if they are not compatible BIOS does not correctly recognize drive.

  On external hard drives (for desktop) it s possible to change these settings by changing the jumper, but it is not possible for readers portable slim.
  Portable settings are stored in the firmware!

  I found various non-legal tools that can change the master/slave/c-salt settings but I wouldn't recommend using it.
  The risks are too high so that the reader will have some damage.
